So, we have 3 reservations for our trip coming in August. 2 for 2 studios for Aug 14, and 1 for a grand villa for the 15-22. This means we have 2 sets of magic bands for each person. If I inactivate the magic bands for one of the sets will it work in the room for the first night since it is a separate reservation? Have they figured that out yet, or will we need both sets?

Appreciate the help...

I have found that it works... sometimes. I was told if you have too many active bands, the system starts to get confused. There are numbers on the back of the band. When my daughter bought a special band (with a pictiure of the castle on it), they entered that number under her MDE profile. The band then worked at 2 of 3 of the resorts we had reservations at. The third worked after we went to the front desk and they made sure the number was linked to that particular reservation (the one it had to be added to was SSR - our middle reservation. it worked at Wilderness Lodge and Polynesian without going to the front desk)

Bands aren't linked to the room or the reservation; they're linked to the person. You can use whichever band you want at any time. If you deactivate a band, it won't work. Period.

The reason I ask is because in our last reservation I had trouble with having multiple bands. I really wish they would just let you decline new bands... just a huge expense on bands going out when we still have our old ones.

Just don't confirm the address or customize the bands, and they won't ship them to you. You can decline the bands they offer at the front desk.

Ok, so too late for that, so if I just inactivate one in each group, it should work on both reservations?

There's no need to deactivate anything. Everything should just work. I'm not sure what you meant by "it" in your question, but deactivated bands won't work, and any active bands will work interchangably.

There is now an option to decline MagicBands in MDE.

I deactivated most of our bands, if I didn't there would be around 20 listed for each person!

I wanted to deactivate one so that we do not have to worry about which ones we are bringing. But the last time I did that, they ended up not being able to work on both our reservations and I ended up with a grey one for the first half and the normal band for the second half.

MS can stop the MBs from being placed on your reservation. When you make a reservation either tell the agent, chat with MS, or e-mail MS from the website and request that the MB be suppressed. I just did this yesterday.

You can now decline yourself in your MDE account.

You don't have to deactivate it just to leave it at home. Deactivating is really more for it you lose it or trash it.

If you book through Orbitz does Disney still send you magic bands for your room? Or do they give them to you at the hotel?

I had about 10 magic bands and resort cards so I deactivated most of them. I will bring the others with us just in case we lose one as I did in the water parks one day.

You can also recycle the old MBs by returning them to the front desk.

My only concern is if I decline MBs for a trip, then take a MB or two from home and both batteries die, I can get one free replacement MB (gray). I am assuming that is per guest. Hopefully it is not a lifetime limit but one replacement per reservation. I would think that it would a similar policy as they have for lost MBs.

In the event that you lose your MagicBand or card while staying at Walt Disney World Resort, please visit Guest Relations or your Disney Resort hotel Lobby Concierge and we will deactivate it for you.

Please note: On occasion, we may be able to provide you with a replacement MagicBand. However, replacement MagicBands are provided on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to a fee. In addition, limited-edition and specialty MagicBands cannot be replaced.

We have a split stay - four nights at All Star Sports and then two nights at SSR. If they send two sets of magic bands, can we just switch to the second set when moving over to SSR? I don't want to mess with anything and end up deactivating them all of something like that. I'll be able to distinguish because I customized the names differently on both sets. Will this work? Also, if we have tickets linked up to MDE will the tickets be linked to both sets of magic bands? i.e. if we only use 2 of our four days while at AA Sports and the last two when at SSR?
