Magic Band Dilemma

We are getting Magic Bands sent to us by Disney for our upcoming trip. I "customized" them by going to MDE and selecting a color for each person. However, WDW sells such cute Magic Banda and I would like Steamboat Willie or Orange Bird.

Why is there no way to pay an upgrade to get the MB I want?

They have the cute ones on the Disney Parks Shopping app, you could buy them and have them shipped to you then you can link them before you go. I just saw the orange bird one on there and it's free shipping until Jan. 2nd. It sucks they don't give you the option to upgrade to a character band. We just got annual passes and I was thinking the same thing!

Some of the cool ones are also available at Disney Store.com, then you just link it. An upgrade charge would be nice, but it's not what they are doing now.

The cost to "upgrade" is simply the cost to buy the band you want. If you buy it and link it to your MDE account in advance you can decline a colored MB with your reservation if you want, otherwise you can have two (or many more) at once. Then just select the one that matches your mood or clothing each day and you are all set.

Because Disney can make more money by selling the fancy ones as full price.
