Magic band charging with kids

Our upcoming trip will be our first using magic bands. In the past, we've set up our kids' keys to the world so that they didn't have charging privileges. Is this possible with magic bands, too? If not, is there a way to limit the amount they can charge? Also, is there some way to check how much were charged each day?

You have to type in a 4 digit pin everytime you use your band to pay for something. You can just make it a hard pin and not tell them it.

just like the KTTWC you can only charge something on your magic band if you have authorized it at check in.
only the magic bands that are authorized will have charging privileges.
so if you only want the adult's magic bands to have charging privileges then those are the only ones you will authorize at check in.

and as PP stated you have to put in a 4 digit pin code for every transaction that you want to charge to your magic band.
although that's the same pin code that you will have to type in if you are on the dining plan every time you want to use a credit so if your child will be walking up to buy a snack by themselves you'll need to provide the child with the pin code.

Just remember to tell them you don't want charging privileges for the kids. If they are a disney adult as in 10 and up they automatically get that privilege and you tell them to change it upon check in

If you do online check in it will make you put in a credit card and will automatically add charging to your bands however it will ask you to put in a pin number. I put in a pin for mine and my husbands is all but the option remained for the kids bands. My kids are 9 and 4 and it gave the option to add a pin for both of them. I just double checked at check in that their bands would not have charging. I could have removed charging from ours at that time as well. Also be aware that if they do not have a pin assigned they can not use their bands for meals or snacks if you are on the dining plan either as they require a pin to checkout for that as well.

I did online check in for our stay a few weeks ago and just left the credit card section blank. I thought it might give me an error message and make me enter one, but it didn't.

They did ask again at check-in if we wanted to add a credit card for charging and I said no.
