Magic 11/20/04 Thanksgiving Cruisers?

Thanks. We're actually coming up with a Plan B Vacation while we wait until 1pm for DCL's announcement.

I am so frazzled!!!

Hey Mel, looks like your getting a 5 nighter 40% of your $$$ back and 25% off a future........I WAS on that cancelled Nov. 2002 sailing here's what I would do........1) Go on the 5 nighter and get my 40% back.....call DCL cancell my 11/20/04 sailing and the rebook with my 25% off.......2 sailing for 135% of the price........Put me in coach!!!!!!!!!

We really still wanted to make the 5-day cruise they rescheduled for Monday (and the $$$ incentives were awesome) BUT, after speaking with Delta and trying to get a Sunday evening or Monday morning flight, they could not do it. They said Delta does not expect MCO to be operational until Monday afternoon. So we cancelled our cruise and got our 100% refund for fear our flight would not make it in time.

We are really disappointed that we will not be able to make it down there. We thought about driving, but were afraid of what we'd run into when we reached Florida on Sunday or Monday.

We really tried, though. :(

What's delta doing about your airfare???? Just wondering........

They only gave us until September 21st to use our tickets on the same route. And the guy really tried to get us into MCO for Monday, but couldn't do so until after 3pm. We'd never make the ship. To say that this is a letdown is an understatement. BUT, to keep realistic here, there are much worse things in the world to go through than an unmet vacation.

We ended up getting an AP rate at WL for Sept. 8-12th and will use our Delta tickets then.

Please tell me again why I ever switched from this Thanksgiving Cruise???!!!!
:sad2:

Hi everyone

I haven't posted here in awhile (I don't know where the summer went but it sure went FAST) and it looks like I have a lot of catching up to do! DD is back in school as of Wed. so maybe that will give me a little more time to get here on my days off of work except I have now been putting in more time walking as my training for the WDW 1/2 marathon in Jan. I'll just have to make the time to get here more often though!

Mel I am soooooo sorry that you had to cancel your cruise! Frances sure is making a mess of things for alot of people. I hope and pray that somehow it ends up not being as bad as they are thinking it will be but that doesn't look very likely. Have a wonderful time at WDW and WL! Stay safe!

Well, Cheryl...don't be too sorry yet. EB and I decided this morning that we are going to start our drive from PA south tomorrow afternoon. We're going to see how far south we can get into S. Carolina by tomorrow evening. I'm not sure what this hurricane is going to do, but we're definitely going to try to make that cruise on Monday.

Wish us luck!

OMG Mel, you and EB be careful! Keep us updated, ok? What about the airfare? Another trip on the horizon?

Mel and EB safe travels! I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Have you talked to DCL about still trying to get down there for Mon?

Good luck!

Yes, it looks like we'll use our Delta tickets at another time. We'll have to pay $100 to activate them plus the fare difference. We actually looked into a 1-way rental but it was very costly. So we'll begin our drive tomorrow morning/afternoon. :yo-yo: I'm quite nervous about this, but I think we may have regretted it if we didn't try. We really do want to start a family and see this fall as our last chance to cruise before pregnancy or babies.

We have friends who live in Myrtle Beach, so if it looks like the cruise will not happen or if the roads are too difficult to drive through, we'll have a Myrtle Beach vacation for a few days, I suppose.

Thank you all for your well-wishes. I will have my laptop with me to check in with family and friends (that would be you all! ;) ), so you will definitely hear from me during our travels.

:grouphug:

All I have to say is: THANK YOU DELTA AIRLINES!

I just got off the phone with one of the nicest Delta ticket agents! EB and I have been agonizing and dreading the 19+ hour drive ahead of us, so I thought I'd give Delta a call again to see if there is anything they could do for us as far as possibly getting us into another airport. She was able to get us a flight into Fort Myers on Sunday morning. We will rent a car from Fort Myers airport and drive to the Sheraton in Orlando on Sunday evening. Then we'll drop our rental off at Cape Canaveral and BOARD THE MAGIC on Monday! :teeth:

After the cruise, we'll head to Disney for one night and fly home on Sunday afternoon.

I am a very happy person right now...can you tell??? :sunny:

YAHOO Mel, I am so happy that Delta was able to get yoau a flight into FL and you and EB will be able to cruise!!!! Have a great time!!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Just wondering if anyone heard if Mel and EB's plans got changed again because of Frances and airport closures? I wonder if the Magic and Wonder will really be able to get into PC tomorrow.

Hi Cheryl and gang! Thank you for thinking of me! I'll copy and paste what I posted on another thread regarding our decision since that would be the easiest way to explain to you all:

We are 9/4 cruisers who just cancelled this morning. We've had 3 flights for this cruise cancelled on us already and couldn't really consider driving 19 hours from NE Pennsylvania for a few reasons. There were three main considerations affecting our cancellation decision this morning:

(1) Afraid that after driving so many hours and finally reaching FL, that we would have too many hurricane-aftermath obstacles preventing us from reaching Port Canaveral with any ounce of sanity left between the two of us.

(2) We were afraid that after finally being able to reach Orlando, that we'd find out our 7-night turned 5-night cruise would suddenly turn into a 4-night cruise because the Magic was having trouble docking on Monday and couldn't dock until Tuesday. I wouldn't drive 19+ hours in difficult traffic and weather for a 4-night cruise.

(3) After the three flights cancelled in the past three days we decided not to tempt fate and take DCL up on their generous full refund.

We're just glad we were able to get our money back and are taking the sign of 3 cancelled flights as a 'sign' that we should just try a cruise another time.

THANK YOU DCL for even giving us these couple of days to try and make it to FL and then STILL giving us our money back. We are very thankful and can't wait to cruise with you again! :sunny:

So we are now officially booked at the WL for Wednesday to Sunday of next week. I'm hoping all will be safe for travels by then!

:sunny:

I am so sorry this cruise did not work out for you. . . but if you get a great deal on airfare, we still have room on ours!

Hi Mel  I too am sorry this cruise didn't work for you. It sure seems like it wasn't meantto be with all those flights being cancelled on you. Have a great time at WDW! Sending you PD

:wizard: for good weather :sunny:
