I am thinking to get the kids perhaps the Made with Magic paint brushes - any reviews from anyone on these yet?

I remember reading the Made with Magic Mickey Ears hat, the original one, was not comfortable and heavy. Are the new ones much better or do the kids get annoyed with wearing them?

How long do the batteries last? We have a 10 day pass for our trip, should I bring any back up batteries?

And finally, do you need to have the ears to have fun with the paintbrushes. I read you can change the color of the ears with the paint brush. Is the paint brush still fun by itself for the kids?

The hats are still not the most comfortable, but the 60th anniversary version is much better than earlier models.
The current "regular" Made with Magic hat has 2 AAA batteries at the top center of the hat (early models used 3 AAA), but the 60th version has 2 separated battery compartments (one under each ear).

The paint brush is fun and also emits a little sound effect. The brush would likely be more fun used to change the colors on ear hats within your own family.

Extra batteries are a good idea. A small Philips screwdriver is needed to open the battery compartments. Both hat and brush use 2 AAA each.

Thanks for the info - can the brushes interact with each other also as well as the hats? If my 2 children each had a brush could they change each others paint brush colors?

I don't know if the paint brushes can change each other, but my daughter had a lot of fun changing the ears of the people as they passed by us while we waited for the parade.

Yes, one brush can change the color of another brush.
The brush has 2 buttons: the first cycles through the available colors, and the second transmits the color to other devices and plays a short sound effect.
You might want to try the brush before buying, since the sound might become annoying. The wand functions the same as the brush, without the sound.

The hats also transmit, allowing a group of hats "magically" flash the same colors.

Other Made with Magic items (headband, glove, sipper cups) will respond to the brush/wand, but do not transmit.

The kids next to me at Paint the Night had the paintbrushes. They were maybe 8-9 and 12-14. They were having a BLAST with them. Battles with one another, changing hats of people nearby, trying to figure out how far away they worked, etc. It definitely appeared that it was helping the time pass quickly. ;-)

I couldn't hear a sound, but I was 5-10 feet away. I can imagine that it would be far more annoying at home (or in the car) than in the parks with lots of ambient noise.
