Okay, we have been visiting WDW for many years, and have bought our share of Disney trinkets. For many years the stuff seemed to be good quality.
However, in recent years, virtually everything we have purchased at WDW has either broke, or fallen apart.
-- Not kidding when I say everthing... From backpacks to alarm clocks to kitchen magnets and everthing in between.
Since the on slaught of great destruction, I have been reading labels. Everyone says "Made in China".

Is this my imagination, or has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? :drinking:

I doubt if this means that Chinese manufacture is inherently shabby. More likely it means that during the last few years Disney was really tough during the bidding process and demanded that everything be made less expensively. This approach was (maybe) understandable post-9/11, but if it keeps up it will permanently degrade the park experience.

I can't claim that I ever had a problem with any WDW souvenirs. But it is diappointing to see SO MUCH Disney merchandise labeled "Made in China" or somewhere else. That's just business. And it ain't gonna change.

I did see a large storybook in a Main Street USA store that was labeled "Made in USA." I bought it (along with all the other souvenirs).

It's the same here in Britain - nothing is "Made in UK". For a while it was all "Made in Taiwan". I was starting to think it was a new brand name! :rotfl2:
