Madagascar

We saw it and thought it was pretty good. My 12 year old laughed quite a bit and I was pleasantly amused. The animation (which is what usually bugs me about these movies) was well done .

Kids really liked it. DS 4 was not scared a t all and he usually is at some of the kid movies.

I just thought it was OK - not much of a story. I was surprised some of you picked up on some of the stuff- like the starfish & crab comment. I never even noticed.

Shrek and the Toy Stories I thought were much better. This is one I probably would not buy.

Agree... good, but not great....

All in all an okay movie but I can honestly say that the lemurs got pretty annoying fast (Pete thought so too). :confused3

We saw it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially my 4 year old. The ending wasn't as dramatic as many of the Disney/Pixar movies but the whole thing was entertaining. My 4 year old is afraid of most of the Disney/Pixar movies, and Madagascar wasn't scary at all. I loved those little lemurs.

That might be because it is NOT a Disney/Pixar movie.

I thought it was pretty amusing, but it wasn't a Disney/Pixar movie, that's for sure. Some of the jokes were funny and were things that only an adult would pick up on. My wife and I commented on how dark the storyline was. I mean we all know Lions are meat eaters and Alex got hungry, etc., but it was just kind of depressing. And then if they were going to carry this 'reality of wild life' thing out, why did they ruin it in the end when Alex discovered he could live on Sushi. Just weird. Overall, it was OK, my 8 year old liked it, my 3 year old got bored.

My son and I went to see it this last weekend and loved it - I think I did more than him :earboy2: But all the way thru the movie I kept seeing hidden Mickeys - like in the bushes on the beach when they first were swept ashore and on one of the wooden crates and on the zebra, etc. I think I'm going "Mickey crazy" - I couldn't concentrate on the movie for thinking I was seeing them! This isn't a Disney film so was it just me???

We saw it last weekend with my 4yr old and 11 yr old twins. Everyone liked it!

It does have quite a bit of adult (and pre-teen ;) ) humor though. It does say "butt" a lot, not really that big of a deal for my kids. However, It DOES say "SUCKS" at one point (Penguins reaching destination). My four year old was like, "what? what's so funny?". Also, the part with the duck. We were all laughing at that part and my 4 yr old turns to me with a glare in her eyes and says, "That's not funny, that's SAD". Oops! I felt awful.

Other than that, it was a great movie and all in all, everyone liked it.

Can someone tell me if there are any dark scenes in this movie? Does anyone get killed, any blood, knives, fire etc. The reason I'm asking is that we have not been able to take our DD to any movie because of the loudness and darkness issues. I think she might be getting past this but I'm concerned because every Disney movie has some element of violence in it that really effects my very sensitive child. I'd like to try going to a movie with her but need one that's very light and fun. Thanks for your help.

I took DD4 and DD2 to see it and they sat on the floor behind the seats with their eyes covered. DD4 was afraid of the part they show in the previews where the zebra says something like look at the cute little duckie and the alligator comes out of the water and chomps the duck. I left after 10 minutes. I am going to try to take them to the drive in this week. They were fine in the movie theater before we took them to WDW in April and they watched it's tough to be a bug. They have never been the same!! LOL!
