We are taking our Grandnephew in December to celebrate his birthday. His heart's desire is to have a meal where the Mad Hatter is there. I know he's on the list at the Grand Floridian Character meal, and I know there's no guarantee he'll be there, but I'm wondering if he's usually one of the characters there. If you've been to the character dinner at 1900 Park Fare, was Mad Hatter there?

Correction - it looks like he's a character at breakfast at the GF, not dinner. But same question - if you've eaten here, was the Mad Hatter there?

Like Windsor Princess, we've also eaten there for breakfast 3 times and he's been there each time. While there's no guarantee that he'll be there, I do think it's a pretty safe bet that he will be.

Yes he has been there every time I have have eaten there and I have seem him walking around 1900 Park Fair when we have eaten at the Grand Floridian Cafe. I think its safe to assume he is usually there. I will tell you this don't hang around the doors waiting to be seated. One morning I was just standing waiting for the waitress to seat us and he opened the door and screamed in my face Good Morning it scared the heck out of me but it was funny. :rotfl2: Have a great time!

You can assume he will be there. Disney always posts the characters are subject to change, just in case something happens. Generally, you will see the Mad Hatter, Alice, Mary Poppins, Pooh, and Tigger at breakfast.

There is also a Wonderland Tea Party at the Grand Floridian. I have been to the breakfast, but not the tea party. This is from the WDW website:
"From 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m every weekday, children ages 4 to 12 can join Alice and her curious friends at 1900 Park Fare for some "tea" (apple juice) and Crumpets (cupcake). A "mad" time is had by all as kids decorate their own cupcakes, have fun making a craft and delight in the silly antics of familiar characters from Wonderland. Space is limited, so make your reservations well in advance by calling (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463)."

Also, I just wanted to note that it is the original Disney cartoon Mad Hatter, not the new Jonny Depp version.

Thanks everyone! I got an ADR for the breakfast. I did see the tea party, but I'm not sure if he would like the idea of doing that by himself, and I wasn't sure if it's too girly. I think he'll be thrilled to see Mad Hatter at breakfast (and I'll be excited to see Mary Poppins!)
