Maclaren or Peg Perego?

I am looking to buy a more compact, light weight stroller for our up coming trip. There are features that I like on both the peg perego strollers and the maclaren but just can't decide which would be better.

Right now I have one of those huge Graco strollers that has seen its better days and want something that is light weight and compact but still comfy. We attempted to do Disney with a light weight cheapy stroller a few years ago when my DS was about 1 and that did not work out well at all. The stroller was light weight and compact but my DS was uncomfortable and therefore miserable the whole time, as soon as we got home that stroller went into the garage sale pile. Now DD#2 is 1 1/2 and I want to get a comfy stroller for her that is much less bulky that the Graco we have. I have decided after much research that I want either a Maclaren or Peg Perego but can't decide which is the best for us.

I guess it depends on the features that are important to you. I really wanted a snack tray for DS (17 mos), so I got a Peg Aria. We'll be using it for the first time when we go to WDW next week.

The Macs are more lightweight and foldable. The Pegs tend to be a little heavier and have extra features. They're very different. If you don't need the recline usually and don't care about stuff like cupholders/snack trays- go Maclaren.

I was in the same place. Each had features I liked and each had features I disliked. My other stroller was going, almost gone, and I needed to decide. I had pretty much decided on the Mac because of the higher weight limits, but then Albee baby had the Peg Aria on sale for $89. The lowest price I could find for the Mac was $60 more. I decided the Peg would do just fine. I don't regret it.

Thanks for your input. I have been reading reveiws all morning and I think my eyes are going to bug out at any moment . Anyhow I have found the Aria for $99 and the Pliko lite for $129. The pliko looks really nice and comfy but the aria has a snack tray. Hmmmm, how important is a snack tray to me. Good greif this shouldn't be such a difficult decision.

Pegs only hold 40-45lbs. Maclaren holds 55-65lbs.

I have owned a Mac stroller, Peg Aria and also a Peg Pliko and out of those three, I would recommend the Pliko. The Mac was very tippy, and the Aria was very difficult to steer, especially one handed. The Pliko that I owned isn't the lite version, so it did have the snack tray but I found it still to be pretty compact and light. It steers great even one handed.

The Mac Quest Sport is a good one and all Macs go to 55 lbs which you can continue to use as the child gets bigger. I say the Quest over the Triumph or Volo because it has a better recline where the others either don't or do very little. The Mac folds up easier and smaller than the PP which when it comes to traveling is definately something to consider. If it weren't for the flying or traveling via Disney transportation I would go with the PP because it has more features. To me the convenience of folding the stroller up quick and getting it out of the way outweights the features (which we have on our regular "everyday use" stroller anyway).

I had an Aria - very hard to steer. It was very lightweight and the way it folded was cool though. But it does have a lower weight limit. I prefer the Mac Volo by far - yes it is tippy because it's an umbrella stroller, they all are if you hang stuff from them. I haven't seen the Pliko lite in person but the regular Pliko is pretty big compared to the Macs and the Aria.

As far as the snack tray. For a 1 yo yeah I can see the need. But honestly if you are pushing it 8 hrs a day, and baby is snacking 1 hr a day - I'd go for the one with the strength in steering They do have no-spill snack cups that you could tether to the stroller somehow in case she pitches it.

I really like the PP Pliko-- I don't have a "lite" just the regular one. It has THE BEST canopy and it really beats the Florida rays. It's a bit pricier, but I have seen it on clearance at Babies R Us stores-- they've been clearancing last year's colors.

The Pliko has a little standing area, so your older son can catch a ride if necessary. I wouldn't say it's like a buggy board, but if you're trying to traverse a crowd at closing, you can have your son step on and you don't have to worry about losing him. When I'm out with my daughter and niece, they always want to stand on the little platform.

The Pliko has an umbrella fold, while the Aria kinda folds in half. The Aria is very lightweight and has a better basket than the Pliko. The recline on the Pliko is near flat and uses a handle for positioning, the Aria isn't as flat and different models have used a different method for recline (i've seen zippers on either side of the seat, drawstring with a little toggle stop, and a strap). I'm not very coordinated, so I never liked how they recline.

I never felt like the Macs had enough features to justify the price. Sure they're lightweight, have a higher weight capacity, and fold up small. But the sunshade is wimpy, the seats aren't very plush, and the basket is small.

Yes, I'm biased towards my Pliko. I've had 4 other strollers and have always gone back to the Pliko. I've brought them all to Disney, and vote for the Pliko as the best one.

My Aria has been sitting in the garage for soooo long... It is so hard to steer once your little one puts on some weight and IMO, it isn't made well.

I have two Macs(for Disney trips)and would not go back to the Aria if you paid me. Dont get a volvo mac, it doesn't recline. The others do. Go to the store and try them out. It truly is the only way to tell. I love the maclarens high handle bars, easy steering, weight and it is easy to fold and carry. If your looking for light weight, compact and comfy for a 2 yr old.....go Maclaren.

IMO, I think the basket is a good size. It hold all out stuff just fine when we go to Disney.

Hi! I bought the Aria- it didn't last more than 18 mos- through heavy daily use in a variety of places (mall, school, soccer field, vacation, winter conditions, etc.) It fell apart & I was disappointed since I had the Perego Double for my twins yrs. ago & was happy w/it at the time. We bought the Maclaren & DD is now 5 & has lasted enough to be passed on in very good condition..from personal exp I think the quality of Perego has gone down recently compared to it's quality 12+ yrs. ago.

I just brought my Pliko to a consignment shop but I really LOVED that stroller. When my youngest was that age she didn't really like the Mac's-she wanted to sit straight up so she could see everything. I really liked the harness on the Pliko-it isn't attached to the seat back so the child can move around freely but is still very safe. I also liked that the Pliko stands when folded. I also really liked the running board on the Pliko.

I did however just buy a Mac Volo for my DD(5).

For strollers, we have a Maclaren Quest (just sold the 2nd), 2 Peg Perego P3's, a Quinny Zapp, Chicco 6WD, a 3rd mystery Peg Perego LOL, a Fisher Price Infant to Toddler, and a Zooper Zydeco. Oh, and a cheapy umbrella for my parents to use. LOL

We used a P3 for each of 2006 and 2007 trips. The stroller was great because the shade really protects from the sun and it wasn't too bulky. Youngest DD was 3 months and 15 months for those trips.

We had originally bought the Quest for the trip when she was 3 months old but even now at 22 months she still slips around in it and we just never use it. The sun coverage isn't as nice as the P3 and it is tippy. It just looks pretty sitting in her room! LOL Didn't help that I bought a 2nd Quest last Summer just because it was cheap and it sat in a box until I decided to find it a new home. I just think I am not a Mac person! So probably this one should be headed out too! LOL

But now I am bored with the Peg P3's so I am planning on selling those and instead just bought a Baby Jogger Mini last night. It has a super easy one hand fold which will be handy when it is just me and youngest DD late at night on the busses while DH and older DD go off on their own. And I got luck by getting at 25% off so only $149!!

The other stroller I almost bought (and just might still LOL) is the Peg Pliko Lite! It is a really great stroller. I know of many Moms who like this better than the P3. It has a roomier and plusher seat and is great to push. The price at Albee Baby is great too at as low as $109.

We have both the Peg Perego Pliko (not the lite) and a Mac Volo. The Pliko is more plush and the seat reclines. It does fold up into an umbrella style but it is a lot bigger than the Volo folded up. We brought 2 Pliko's with us last year to Disney and had no problems. I recently bought the Volo and I like it too. It steers very easily and is lightweight. However, it's a basic stroller with no frills which works great for my 5 year old. We will be bringing both the Pliko and the Volo with us this year when we go to Disney.

We have a Mac triumph & a Peg P3. For Disney I would definitely go with the P3. I actually bought ours last Fall for that exact purpose. The sunshade is amazing (Macs don't compare), the snack tray is great for keeping water at reach, or to clip a fan onto, and it's got an almost flat recline so my DD naps while we're at the park. It is definitely heavier & bulkier to fold than a Mac but that's a trade off I'm willing to take for the extra features. Oh & you can usually find great deals on previous years models at albeebaby.com or babydealz.com.

We have three boys and I think my wife in those years has purchased just about every type and style of stroller. Our youngest is now 6, but we still intend to bring the Mac we have had for years to WDW this spring. The thing is indestructible! It has been to WDW three times as well as about 4 or 5 other airline trips as well as every day use. Now we only use it to go to WDW, and this will probably be the last trip with it. Our main reason we like the mac is that it is so versatile and can fold up nicely.

We have 12 strollers, it is an addiction. Of all of them the Mac's are what we use the most. They were great in Disney. The Peg Aria does't turn well when the kids get bigger. You can generally find the Mac's on sale.

Well I finally made my decision and ordered the Peg Perego P3 it is the 2007 model in Free Style Rose (went with the pink since DD#2 is our last I thought I'd get something girlie ). Anyhow, I hope it's great we'll have to see when it gets here. It had everything I wanted and more. I really felt like I would miss having a snack tray so that is why I chose this one and the foot stand on the back for a second passenger is a big plus I think that will be great. I'm really not to concerned with weight but size is a concern and it seems as though this one folds up similar to an umbrella stroller which will be great. I hope it's all it's made out to be.

I thought I was the only one!! I am constantly looking at strollers, and DS 2 (3 in June) doesn't even use them that often (usually only at outdoor fairs and things like that). Right now, I have four.

I just forced myself to get rid of our Jeep double (I don't even have two kids!! ). I bought it for our Disney trip since my niece will be with us, but we decided to take two singles since she has pretty high walking stamina. So, I was down to three, but I found a Pliko yesterday for $15!! I took it to a consignment place to get "appraised," and aside from the "underwire" in the basket poking out a little bit, it's in great condition!!

We used it today at a music festival, and within five minutes, the little one was asleep, and all I had to do was pull the little handle to recline him. He stayed asleep for an hour! Definitely a Pliko convert! Now I want a brand new one in an obnoxious color! Haha!!

I really liked my Jeep double, and I have a Jeep single, for the all-terrain wheels, but this one is definitely fighting for my attention.
