Lynx 50 Bus from POP to Seaworld

Someone here had suggested taking the Lynx to get to Seaworld because it's cheaper than the Mears shuttle, quite a bit of difference in price actually.

I was told to go to DTD and take the Lynx from there to Seaworld. I checked out their website and am utterly confused. Is this a valid route? If so, will I have to actually enter DTD? I dont want to waste a day from our hopper passes just to get to Seaworld.

Also, can we buy passes right there at DTD?

And no you can't buy Seaworld tickets at DTD. Well maybe if you go into one of the non Disney owned properties on hotel plaza blvd.

Though if you are talking about Bus passes I poked around the site and didn't really find info on what the fare is. I think for just a one two trip day its probably just cheaper to us cash in the fare box. You need exact change. I think around $2 a trip.

Also you do know this is public transportation. It looks like a nice short ride though.

yes, it's valid. My family has taken the bus to Seaworld several times.

You don't need admission to DTD. You can't buy Seaworld tickets at Disney. You can order them online in advance, or buy them at the gate. I'd suggest ordering in advance. We are a military family so we get 4 free passes and standing in line for tickets, which we have to do because we get them free with ID, is the longest line of our day!

To catch the #50 take the bus from your resort and get off at the Market Place stop. Enter DTD and exit next to the toy store. Go up to the main street Hotel Plaza Blvd and cross. There is a bus stop right there. There is a stop right in front of the Seaworld. Tell the driver and he/she will let you know your stop is coming up. You do have to walk across the parking lot to the gates. It's ~20 minutes to get to Seaworld.

Yes DTD is just a big shopping/eating place and doesn't require admission.

I think you just get on the bus and put your $2 per person in the fare box. The only reason for buying a pass is it you plan on riding for multiple days. Like if you use the bus to get to work or some who may use it to get to WDW from their off site hotel.

You pay when you get on the bus. BUT....if you're planning on getting to SW early in the morning, getting to the DTD stop is going to be hard. You may be better off heading to the Lynx stop at the TTC...that's what we did. Take an early morning MK bus and then boat or monorail over to the TTC...get on the bus. Be sure to have exact change...the driver doesn't make change. And also be sure to tell the driver you are getting off at SW....otherwise, he won't stop.

Oh, got it. As answered, no passes needed. Cash, pay when you board. Adults were $2 each and kids under 18 were $1. This was in May. You can check the lynx website before you go and print out a schedule and check the fare for any changes.

The DTD bus from the resort shares with Typhoon Lagoon. They opened at 9am during our visit so we had no problem catching a bus early. Early is relative to us, we aren't rope drop kinda people.. But I guess if TL isn't opening until later and you want to be at SW early or at opening, TTC would be a better option.

Yes we want to go early. We'll do the sealife and then hit Aquatica, assuming its on the property. Is the TTC something that is a regular stop via monorail or do you get off somewhere else and walk? About how long should we allow to get from A to B?

The TTC is a stop on the Monorail. No need to walk.

From POR to DTD to the Lynx stop to SeaWorld took us roughly 1 hour. Mostly waiting for buses, the driving part is not that long. I would say from POP to MK to Monorail to TCC to SeaWorld expect 90 minutes or longer as you are walking to and waiting for 3 different transportation options. At that point your money may be spent better saving your time and renting a car for a day or two.

I don't know how familiar you are with SeaWorld, but it's easy to fill a full day there and still miss things unless you are going at a good pace. The main attractions are the shows which run at specific times. The walk through attractions like Shark Encounter or seeing the dolphins at the pools can take as little or as long as you like. But I can't imagine seeing much in the am then expecting to hit the waterpark for the rest of the day. In mid May the hours will be shorter. We last went on Memorial Day and park was open 10-10 and we did most of the attractions, but missed a few and we skipped all the rides. My kids are to old for the little kid area and were to scared to try the big rides. I believe Aquatica hours are even shorter than the seaworld park? You may want to consider 2 days to do 2 parks.

I've never been to Aquatica, so someone else can probably help you better......but it is across the street from SeaWorld. But more like across the street around the back. Not gate to gate. The walk would appear to be rather a hike. I'd guess the #50 bus would have a stop closer to the entrance to Aquatica, but I can't say. That might be another reason to consider a rental car.

Sigh. I'll have to look into cars but I'm guessing with the need for 3 carseats and seating for 4 adults on top of that, it may not work out. Maybe we'll just do Aquatica. My kids love the water. They'll be 4 by then.

If I had kids that were 4, I might be very tempted to just do SeaWorld and then head to a WDW water park...so much easier to get to and from.
But, that's your choice.

To get to the TTC from Pop, get an early MK bus. When you get on the bus, ask the driver what is faster to the TTC...boat or monorail. He may offer to drop you off there, or at the Polynesian from where you can walk back to the TTC. The monorail starts running by 7am, so that would be a good bet from MK to TTC...take the Express line.

We could also use Meats. Someone had told me it was $10 per person but I don't see anything like that on their website. This is getting frustrating!

you may get 14 days of use, but how many will you actually be using? According to your footer, you'll be in central FL for 6 nights. How much time did you plan on spending at WDW vs other Orlando attractions?

If you're going to go to Aquatica multiple times, I'd think a rental car would be the better choice. FL requires car seats for kids under 4. Your kids....your decision, but legally not required. That just seems to me an awful lot of travel time wasted when your time is limited.

Mears to SW was $18pp when I checked in 2010. That's why we chose Lynx. It's cheap and really easy to do.

We like SeaWorld. I grew up going to SW in OH. But honestly, if we didn't get Here's to the Heroes passes each year we would probably skip it. It's expensive to do multiple Orlando attractions for a few days each vs. picking one and staying there. Tickets are front loaded. It's the reason we haven't done US yet. My kids could care less about Harry Potter....though I know they'd like it once they saw it. We live local to Cedar Point and just this year they are both tall enough and brave enough to have tackled some of the big coasters. Someday soon I'll have to expand our vacation budget to add a visit to US, but it's hard to double ticket prices.......because I don't think any of us could be in Orlando and NOT go to WDW!

WPFM is only ~$55 and gives you as many entries as you have days of parks. We always make a trip to both TL and BB during our stay. I can't comment on Aquatica never having been there, but I'm sure it's fun too. But if I wanted to keep my spending in check, I'd skip the SW parks and just add WPFM and stay on WDW property. Epcot has a nice Sea Pavilion too. Even though our last 2 trips have been 10 days, I realize that I just can't fit everything in one trip. Gives us a reason to go back over and over.

I checked the hours for Aquatica they don't have May 2012 hours up but for 2011 it closed at 5:00 everyday Mid May.

I also agree that in one day you are not going to see much of either Seaworld or Aquatica. I too went to Seaworld in OH pretty much ever summer and just the shows are spread out and there may only be two or three showings of each show.

Also It doesn't look like its an easy walk between the two. Here is a Google map and it shows an over 2 mile walk between the two front gates and I doubt there are sidewalks.

Adding "Waterparks + More" would cost $10 more than buying 1-day passes to Aquatica.

But it looks like if you're planning to do SeaWorld anyway, the upgrade to add Aquatica to a SeaWorld pass is only $28; that's for one visit to SeaWorld + one visit to Aquatica, without the SeaWorld free bounce-back. The 14-day passes would be a $43 upgrade, which would be $12 less than the WP+M option.

But as others have posted, I would not advise trying to do both on the same day.

Also, don't forget that WP+M includes both Disney waterparks, as well as Disney Quest, which is a nice way to spend an evening if the park you're visiting closes early.

It's actually less than a mile, and if you zoom in there are nice wide sidewalks & crosswalks. You would exit the SW parking by the bus drop-off, and walk along Sea Harbor Dr. to I-Drive.

The I-Ride Trolley bus also provides service between the 2 about every 20 minutes. The fare is $1.25 for adults, free for kids. It's a separate system from Lynx, so there are no free transfers.

The only way I would try to do both Aquatica and Sea World in one day would be on a day Sea World is open late,at least until like 9pm.I would get to Aquatica at opening and stay until at least around 1-2pm and then head to Sea World,doing this will still leave you not being able to do everything you might want to do.In my opinion Sea World requires a full day or more and when I go to waterparks I usually spend at least most of the day there.I believe there is a shuttle between Sea World and Aquatica as even though they're next to each other the entrance and parking lot for Sea World are on the opposite side of the entrance for Aquatica,making for a long walk.I would also consider a rental car for two days to do both parks.
