Lunch with Disney artist is worthy it! :)

The room they do the luncheon in is very small, it's called the Bamboo room, and is actually part of the original Brown Derby from Hollywood. Keith was explaining to me that it was brought to MGM studios, and added to the restaurent there. Our table would only have seated 6 at best. But saying that, I imagine they could have brought in an extention to it, to seat a couple more people, but due to the size of the room, I doubt they could get many more in there.

They had personalized menus for each of us with our names in them, which was a kewl touch. Mr. Ewing signed all of them at the end. The meal was fantastic, we had lobster bisque, cobb salad, and a choice of entree's. Banana Foster for dessert was the perfect ending to an incredible lunch :)

If you get to meet Mr. Sam Ewing, you will have a great time. He was extremely charming, and I think could hold a conversation about nearly anything. I forgot to mention that we did take pics, but we only got home yesterday, so I havn't taken the film in yet. Fingers crossed that they came out ok. I don't have the best luck with cameras and film :lol.

how many people do they allow at one time to have lunch with the artist. I imagine if there are a few families it would be more difficult to have a great conversation, but fun anyway.

Laura, I had heard/read that 8 guests was the limit, but perhaps it is 9 as someone else said. They do not combine families, though. This is an individual -- very personal -- thing . . . one party (of 1 to 8 people) with 1 or 2 disney artists. And, only one lunch is scheduled per day. For example, if the party is you and your husband, then it's just the two of you and the artist(s). That's all for that day. If I make a reservation for myself and three others in my party, then it's the four of us and the artist(s), and that's all for that day. See how that is? Sounds like fun, doesn't it?

Thanks for sharing your experience, Teris! I'll bet it's something you'll remember forever. I hope to do the lunch in December if I it's still available. From what they told you, it may be.

Pat

118 days and counting . . . again!

This sounds awesome! I'm going to call & see if its available in Oct!!!

I had called when the 90-day PS policy went into effect, and the CM didn't know anything about the meal. He checked and told me it had to be booked 30 days out and was only offered on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I'm trying to get a booking for my daughter who is majoring in art in college. It's an early Christmas present for her.

I just booked this for next week - we're set for Aug 20th. I can't wait! I had wanted to do this, but we have such a short time in WDW that I was a little afraid to make too many plans. We're leaving the night of Aug 20th, so I figured that this would be a great way to end our first-time stay at WDW!

For those of you who have gone to the lunch, is it a fixed menu or do you get to chose from the regular lunch menu?

TIA :p

We were given personalized menu's with our names in them, and the menu went like this:

Introduction

Lobster Bisque with Peppered Creme Fraiche and Sorrel

individual cobb salad with chopped greens, turkey breast, bacon, egg, tomatoes, crumbled bleu cheese, avocado, and cobb salad dressing.

Center Stage
Choice of one:

Grilled Filet Mignon with Boniato Mash, Crisp Peppered Onions, and 'Chimichurri" Aiioli and Rich Cabernet Reduction.

Thai Noodle Bowl with Seared Breast of Duck, Sugar Peas, Bok Choy, and ****ake Mushrooms, in a Red Curry Broth.

Pan-fired Grouper over Roasted Asparagus, Citrus Plugra Butter Sauce topped with a sweet Onion Marmalade

Finale

Bananas Foster Mascarpone Cheesecake with Cherry Compote and Port Wine Reduction

Coffee, Tea, and Non-alcoholic beverage

My younger daughter had the Thai Noodle bowl with the duck and loved it,, when Sam Ewing, the Artist who hosted our lunch, asked her how it was,, she replied, "It's just ducky" :lol,, she cracked him up, I think he really enjoyed interacting with the girls because unlike us adults, they werent' nervous :lol.

Thanks Teris! That menu sounds yummy! I'm hoping to get a PS for this December :)
