Have anyone of you experienced lunch with an Imagineer? My DD16 is planning on becoming an engineer and I thought this might be interesting for her. If you have, is it just your group eating with the castmember? Are they there for the whole meal or just Q&A? Any information you have would be useful.

Thanks

We do this fairly frequently an it is always a highlight of a trip, but please be aware that the discussions tend to be more about theming, storyline, guest experience, scenery/set design, park atmosphere than about the actual physics and technical stuff.

It is a multi-course lunch from a set menu, and your imagineer is there for the entire meal. There are eight spaces available at each lunch, and unless your party is eight then you will be sharing the table with others. We have had anything from four to eight total people at lunch with us.

There is plenty of time for conversation and photographs, and you will each receive a commemorative glass plate which the imagineer will autograph for you. We usually just ask the man at the podium in the brown derby to hold it for us so we don't break it in the park during the afternoon.

Thanks - it sounds like it would be worth it.

A few years ago we were have to have lunch with a space shuttle astronaut at the Cape Canaveral. It was a group lunch with about 50-60 people and more of a presentation/video and then Q&A so it wasn't really a private lunch. Even with four other people, it seems like it would be more intimate.

My daughter could find out what the Imagineer studied and how s/he became an employee. I think it would be a really good surprise.

Yep it's a really great experience- take it from a teenager!
I very much so enjoyed talking with the imagineer, even if his focus was more in art (art school, etc). It was a very personal experience and informative, as well.
We chatted about the parks, little details everyone loves, rides we thought were amazing, etc.
Your daughter will have a blast!

Yes, and I thought it was very interesting.

You don't get to choose your Imagineer; there are about twelve or fourteen of them who rotate on a not necessarily regular schedule - so your Imagineer may have nothing to do with (and not a lot of knowledge about) your particular field of interest.

I did this a few years ago and it was an awesome experience! The imagineer is there for the entire meal, and with my experience, he was in no hurry to leave. My imagineer with that experience was in charge of imagining several of the attractions that had been recently or in progress of being designed, so it was very interesting.

There are around 8 allowed at each lunch per previous reservation, so it's not only your part unless you have one that large or unless no one else reserves the experience as well. It's nice having other people there since you get a variety of questions that you may not have thought of.

I am also planning to do this next week, so I will post a review when I return.

I'm sure you will enjoy this if you book it.!

I can't wait to read your review, but I think we'll book this I think both of my DDs would enjoy the experience and it has always been DHs dream to be an Imagineer.
