Lunch at France and Norway bakeries

I would like lunch info at these 2 places. We are on the dp and may try them for a quick service. Have never been to either one. Thanks

We had lunch at Chefs to meet Remy.
We were underwhelmed by the food. I had the fixed price menu (which is included on the dining plan). I had the French Onion soup (good), the grilled ham and cheese (not good) and I can't remember what I had for dessert? DH had the roast chicken. It was ok.. a typical roast chicken, nothing terrible, nothing special. The kids had the chicken strips and the burger and they were ok with them.
Remy was super cute and a lot of fun to meet. But he is literally at your table for about 1 minute. Glad we met him, but we won't be hurrying back.

We haven't eaten lunch at France for a while, but have friends who love it. Check out the menu and see if it works for your family.
We did eat lunch at the bakery in France on our last trip. Small quiches, French Bread with sauce & mozzarella(for the pizza lover) lol, ham & cheese croissant, and of course all the yummy baked goods.
We always stop at the Norway bakery. They have a variety of sandwiches & wonderful pastries. try allears.net for menu info, or the disney site. Good luck!

We like both of the bakeries at France and Norway.
They are both delicious, but don't expect a well balanced meal, they are pretty carb heavy to do a meal out of.

Norway's CS meals tend to be large, so we usually share. The sandwiches are good and their soup is really good!

Norway is ok..you would get a sandwich and pastry and drink. I haven't tried the sandwiches here but I've heard they aren't so good. Might want to just try a pastry for a snack credit.

France is lovely though.....choice of ham and cheese sandwich, or ham and cheese croissant or quiche or a small cheese plate with a baguette of fresh bread, plus a pastry and a drink.

I do HIGHLY recommend Morocco for a QS meal..large, fresh, very nice.
Easily shared so that you can get a meal at each place and share them all.
The only dessert you can have with the DP is baklava..but hey, it's good!

DH has his "fix" at the bakery in France. The cheese plate is a nice snack, the ham and cheese sandwich is decent but, oh my---just try to pick one pastry. I love having a glass of wine from the wine bar and just sitting and watching the world go by......oh, and scarfing down an eclair or napolean, or two.

Norway has the ever famous school bread, which I think is OK....I did have the world's worst coffee there

I myself like France I can get lunch ( quiche) and have dessert (neopolitian SP) and be satisfied, I can't wait for December.

I do not know for sure, but I'd almost guarantee it is not.

I think you get a slice of a cheddar kinda thing, a swiss kinda thing and a brie kinda thing. Typical grocery store stuff served on a paper plate with a couple grapes or berries.
This is not going to be anything like a cheese plate you get at Chefs de France or any other dine-in restaurant for that matter.

Still tasty though.

I like both Norway's and France's bakeries (plus Tangierine at Morocco) for a light lunch. The cheese plate (Boulangerie) isn't anything special; I'd suggest the other selections instead, plus a delicious pastry (of course), and if the weather is nice, the park benches behind the shops make a lovely setting for "le picnique".
These three, plus Seasons, are probably my favorite CS places in Epcot!

IMO the black forest ham on nutty wheat bread was actually quite good here last Ocotober.
It is toasted in one of those subway type machines, but it was good.

The pastry was also very good and they have real coffee.
They have a super automatic coffee maker for the espresso and cappuchino.
So the coffee is ground when you order it.

I did not get the soup, but they gave me the cappuchino in place of it. (YMMV)

Kringla Bakeri in Norway is our one "must do" lunch at Epcot. For one QS credit you get a sandwich, soup and one of their amazing pastries.

We had lunch at Kringla in 2007, and it was pretty good. Here is part of my trip report describing it:

We all shared a Daily Chef's Selection, which included a cup of seafood chowder, a HUGE roast beef and jarlsberg cheese sandwich, and a choice of dessert. We also ordered lefse, and 2 pieces of cappucino cheesecake. The sandwich was fantastic, and more than enough even when we all split it; this thing was gigantic. Only complaint we had was that the bread is SO chewy, tough even, you were more RIPPING off bites then you were biting it. I was very disappointed in the soup, as I had been hoping to try the jarlsberg cheese soup, but seafood chowder was the soup of the day, so that's what we ended up with. I didn't much like it, but the little girls did. For the dessert, I chose Rice Cream, which I LOVE. The little girls had the lefse, and James and Ari had cheesecake. I stole a bite of the cheesecake, and it was AWESOME.

Note please that this was 3 years ago, the menu may have, indeed probably HAS changed since then.

ETA: One other thing I remember... the sandwich was made with butter, not mayo. This was the default option. As we don't eat butter on our sandwiches at home, everyone thought that part tasted very odd. Not bad, just....weird.

Wow, I cannot agree. The sandwiches and pastries at Norway, in my opinion, are the BEST QS meal in World Showcase. Everything there is unusual, not your typical fare. One of the sandwiches, for instance, has sliced apple on it; how often do you see that on an American menu? And the pastries are brilliant!

Plus if you're on the dining plan, your meal (sandwich and dessert) also comes with a salad, and if you're anything like me, you're really craving your vegetables a few days into your carb-heavy trip.

Like another poster, Norway QS is one of my must-do's on every trip.

We usually do 'drive by snacking' at both of these bakeries, but they have great food- enjoy!
