Hey all,

Our family (wife and I, plus our two daughters 7 and 9) will be spending a few days at WDW (Magic Kingdom) next July - The week of July 1st - BUSY!!!)

A few notable facts;

We have only 2 days at WDW (Magic Kingdom specifically).
  • It'll be HOT
  • It'll be BUSY
  • We will not be getting the Park Hopper pass
  • We've been before and did Ohana, CRT, Contemporary, Hoop De Due, Boma (and a bunch of other restaurants at other Disney parks)

I'm looking for lunch and/or dinner places where we might be able to escape the heat a bit and that the kids will enjoy. Good food is always a plus too!

I'm thinking BOG primarily only because we haven't been there before (wasn't built) but I hear reservations are tough. I'm also thinking Liberty Tavern for lunch only because it sounds like a nice lunch place where we can beat the heat at MK.

BOMA and Ohana are also good picks I think. We loved both. Particularly Ohana.

Anyways, thoughts? We'd love to try something new and unique, but some of the ones we've listed seem to be favourites for a lot of people too (We can do tried and true too!):)

Thanks!

Jay

Day 1- If you can't get a BOG dinner reservation then you can stand in line for lunch since it is a quick service. We did this the beginning of August and it was very hot but they do hand out umbrellas and water. We waited about 25 minutes to get in. For dinner that night you could eat a at Ohana since it is a favorite and you would be trying something new for lunch.

Day 2- Liberty Tree Tavern gets really good reviews for lunch and it will also be something new. For dinner you could try California Grill since it just re-opened and you would be able to experience the new menu.

I would just try and pick your restaurants around the MK area since you only have 2 days there. Hope this helps!

I like it!! What are the chances I'd get the rezzies I'm hoping for 180 days out (for July).

I can't even reserve for another 4 months or so. :\

If you are at Magic Kingdom and looking to escape the heat, Columbia Harbor House is a CS restaurant but the seating is indoors. DH and I really enjoyed it. Liberty Tree is another great suggestion. MK also has The Plaza, Tony's Town Square, and Crystal Palace which is a character buffet. We went this past May and it was already very, very hot in the afternoon hours and we were so thankful we made ADR's for an indoor restaurant! Hope you have a nice trip! :)

There are several indoor CS at MK:

Columbia Harbor House
Be Our Guest (although you do have to wait outside to get in)
Pecos Bill
Cosmic Ray's
Pinnochios Village Haus

If you want to get seated in any MK sit-down restaurant in a busy time, you ought to have a reservation. You probably won't get into Be Our Guest without one, but you may want to have one even if you pick a different restaurant.

I really like The Plaza restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. It is mostly sandwiches, but they also have a very good meatloaf and garlic mashed potatoes.

I will add to that having 2 ADRs a day when it is so hot is a great thing! Nothing like an air-conditioned break to make you feel tons better! Just don't eat too much or you won't feel so great. A stuffed full tummy and heat do not go together well.
