Luna and Louie were two black cats, sister and brother, that came to live with us in August 2003 aged 14 mths from an animal rescue centre. Sadly not long after Christmas Luna started acting strangely and in April we found her after she had been missing for a whole day and night in an old dog's kennel in the back of the garden and she had passed away :sad1:....after a post mortem the vet decided she had probably died of cat leukaemia. We felt so sad.

A couple of weeks ago I told some of you about Louie who had had an accident and had ripped his tummy on what the vet thought was probably barbed wire. He had to have a general anaesetic and lots of stitches to sew him back together plus antibiotics to ward off infection. Whilst taking the antibiotics he started regurgitating every mouthful of his food. The vet said it may be irritated stomach from the tablets and we kept him on wet food. He seemed to improve for a few days, but then over the weekend he couldn't eat, sudden weight loss showed and wanted constant cuddles! Yesterday evening he became alot worse - difficulty breathing and laid about, refused all food and drink. Today I took him to the vet and he was so sick, probably wouldn't have survived an anaesetic to see what damage had occured inside his tummy from his accident, which was now contracting in and out. I felt so sad and with my two kids we had to allow the vet to do the kindest thing and give him the injection to put him to sleep. Have been crying all afternoon and all night. I know he was just a cat - but he was so lovely - liked lots of cuddles and I miss him so much having grown so attached to him.

Lots of you don't know me - so just move on to happier threads!! Anyone that does know me, just wanted to share my sadness - I feel so low tonight.

So sorry Selina know how u feel like losing a member of the family

Sorry to hear about that Selina. I know if my dogs die I'll be crushed. Definately go out and get another when you feel up to it though, as the sadness is nothing compared to the lifetime of happiness they bring you.

Thankyou merryweather's twin and highlander...hope you had a nice holiday. I've been soaking in the bath with a bottle of Spanish Sherry....eyes like red footballs........going to bed now.

Posted the same time PrinceEric.....it's just so hard, starting my self off again, so better go, goodnight

***edit*** Dark Marauder......thanks, missed yours too, we're all posting the same time.

Selina,
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. My 16 year old dog (who'd been with us since she was a tiny puppy) died a few months ago and DH and I miss her so much. Even though your cats lives were short, I think it's wonderful that you rescued them and they were able to have the love and companionship that so many animals don't get.

Really, really sorry Selina. I know how much it hurts. Hang in there.

I'm so sorry to hear this news. :sad1:
Nothing is as horrible as the loss of a loving pet.

Oh Selina! So very sorry for your loss.

Hugs from Jodie, Alex, & Vanessa

I understand the closeness of a pet. I think only those people with a pet as wonderful as ours can comprehend the loss we feel when one passes away.
I am very sorry for the loss of your kitties. Lots of :grouphug: coming your way!

Thanks for the kind words....does help to share it. Feel a bit better today - I can talk about it more - whereas yesterday couldn't without the floods of tears. Hardest thing today is going out and coming in and he's not here waiting, and even the chair I'm sitting on now - it's a sort of executive swivel with comfy cushioning - it used to be his favourite chair too and I'm so used to sitting forward on the end whilst typing on the computer because he was always behind me and sometimes would come and sit on my lap.

By the way..Tigerlilly's mom - so nice to see you on the boards again.....we've missed you!

Hugs for Selina.....I'm so sorry for your loss..........

Sel,

I am so sorry for your loss. I hope that you get to feeling better really soon. I will keep you in my thoughts, my friend.

Thanks. It still feels ever so strange at home - especially in the evenings. I'm alot better today. You don't know how just reading the posts helped - once again just want to thank you....

Thanks Princess Michelle....
Today I took the kids to an outdoor pools complex complete with grass and picnic area and three curly water slides!! At the same time (not far away) was an airshow - all the old war planes and some modern stuff doing their stuff in the sky. Although we couldn't always see it - every few minutes could hear it and if you closed your eyes in the warm sun and listened to the splashing of the kids in the water etc it sounded like "the Hulk" ride ....you know that sound!!! I could have been sunbathing at the RPR!

P.s. Feel better and have made up a little photo album of Luna and Louie.

P.s.s. think probably this thread should wander down the bottom now.....thanks everyone for helping me through.
