Luna and Louie were two black cats, sister and brother, that came to live with us in August 2003 aged 14 mths from an animal rescue centre. Sadly not long after Christmas Luna started acting strangely and in April we found her after she had been missing for a whole day and night in an old dog's kennel in the back of the garden and she had passed away
....after a post mortem the vet decided she had probably died of cat leukaemia. We felt so sad.
A couple of weeks ago I told some of you about Louie who had had an accident and had ripped his tummy on what the vet thought was probably barbed wire. He had to have a general anaesetic and lots of stitches to sew him back together plus antibiotics to ward off infection. Whilst taking the antibiotics he started regurgitating every mouthful of his food. The vet said it may be irritated stomach from the tablets and we kept him on wet food. He seemed to improve for a few days, but then over the weekend he couldn't eat, sudden weight loss showed and wanted constant cuddles! Yesterday evening he became alot worse - difficulty breathing and laid about, refused all food and drink. Today I took him to the vet and he was so sick, probably wouldn't have survived an anaesetic to see what damage had occured inside his tummy from his accident, which was now contracting in and out. I felt so sad and with my two kids we had to allow the vet to do the kindest thing and give him the injection to put him to sleep. Have been crying all afternoon and all night. I know he was just a cat - but he was so lovely - liked lots of cuddles and I miss him so much having grown so attached to him.
Lots of you don't know me - so just move on to happier threads!! Anyone that does know me, just wanted to share my sadness - I feel so low tonight.
