Lulu201's Healthy Living Journal--Just trying my best to walk the walk! Come on by!

Erin, your slow stroll and time on a park bench sound so relaxing and rejuvenating! What a wonderful way to begin your day!

Thanks for the reminder about my Dove dark chocolates. They really were a very healthy way to include chocolate in my daily life. ::yes:: I think after a brief time of staying away from chocolate to break its potential to set me off into a binge, I'll pick some of those dark chocolates up at the store and allow myself 2 each evening like I used to do. I'm glad you remembered!

How is your back feeling? Are you back to all your normal activities pain-free?

Enjoy this day, dear Erin, for we will only get one chance to find the joy in it.

Love ya, WISH-sis

DH says we can plan a KofP trip for Saturday!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I'm so happy!! :cloud9:

You name the time & we'll meet you at our usual spot. Looks like the mall should expect royalty! princess: princess:

One minute you're sitting on a bench in the park. . .the birds are singing. . .the wind is gently blowing. . .the sun is shining. . .all is right with the world and you know it.

The next minute you find out a new music school in a huge building located a half mile from YOUR music school is having its grand opening "open house" on Saturday. . .oh, and they're charging LESS per lesson than you are.

You never know what a day's gonna bring. :p

Mama said there'd be days like these.

Yesterday was a :) :) :) :) :) :) day!

Stats:

1. Devotions 13/30
2. Vitamins 14/30
3. Water 12/30
4. Exercise 8/30
5. Food 8/30
6. Scale 12/30

Here's the plan:

1. Devotions :)
2. Vitamins
3. Water--1st glass down
4. Exercise--not today, no time. My students have National Piano Guild Auditions and I'll be involved with that ALL day.
5. Food--breakfast: 2pt. a.m. snack will be fruit and yogurt at 3. Lunch will be out with audition team (I'm hoping for a salad). Dinner ? I know not having a plan is dangerous for me. . .I've got to be careful today.
6. Scale--hopefully the 177 I saw this morning will keep me on the straight and narrow. :)

I've got to get going; I won't be back around until later tonight. . .maybe tomorrow? Hang in there, gang! :grouphug:

Erin

I see you are on a roll congrats :Pinkbounc You sound as busy as me :teeth: Hope you have a great thursday and remember 177 - wahoo :cool1:

June 17, 2005

Yesterday was a rough day in more ways than one. . .spent the day with another area music teacher who is unhappy about the new school coming to our area. Kind of a downer.

Today's going to be the same scenario as yesterday, but I'm hoping to do a little better healthy living-wise, and at least get my water in.

Stats of the month:

1. Devotions 14/30
2. Vitamins 15/30
3. Water 12/30
4. Exercise 8/30
5. Food 8/30
6. scale 13/30

Yesterday I earned :) for devotions, vitamins, and the scale.

I'm not particularly worried about the new school coming--it'll make us all step our games a bit--and I feel God is ultimately in control. All we can do is our best and then take it from there. What I'm finding is that I'm tired from the YEAR, from the intensity of the work. I love my work, but I'm tired--and that's an OK place to be, especially at this time of year. I feel a sense of fulfillment and lots of :goodvibes , but it's Friday and I'm glad the weekend is coming!!!!

Gotta do my morning route to school.
Erin

Good morning, dear Erin :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

It's a beautiful morning and I know I'm looking forward to a great lunch chat tomorrow. I have a smile on my face and a spring in my step that only a WISH-sis visit can provide. :p

Hang in there through your day. Find moments to nurture yourself and to notice the beauty around you. Drink in nature and its wonders. God will handle the rest - feel the peace of the Holy Spirit flow through you.

See you tomorrow

:rockband: Party in Erin's Journal! :rockband:

Have a great Friday Erin!

I know it's been "long time no see" from me, but I couldn't resist when I heard about the rockin' party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHOOHOO!

:cool1: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:  :bounce: :thewave: :dancer:

OH MY GOSH! There was a party going on all day yesterday and I didn't even know it! Oh, well, better late than never! :cool1:

Kind of fell apart yesterday, but got smilies for devotions and the scale. I'll have to check my pill holder to see if I took my vitamins.

I'm on my way to work and then will meet a friend for lunch. :) Some shopping for Father's Day is in the plan, too. I'm going to try to eat healthy, but I'm not going to be too tough on myself. Que sera sera.

'Till later,
Erin

Good morning, dear WISH-sis.

Thanks for our chat yesterday. You are a blessing in my life.

I hope you have a relaxing day with your family and that Mike likes what you picked out for him.

Love, peace and joy to you today.

:sad2: No, no, no, it hasn't been a good couple of days, but I can feel myself getting back into the swing of things. I haven't had enough water in the last 3 days; today that's my #1 goal.

Before the day is up I'm going to go back and try to salvage my stats for the month, but for now it's enough to write down what I need to do today:

1. Devotions :) Daily guideposts was all about dads today. :)
2. Vitamins
3. Water
4. Exercise--I've got to get out and do some walking!
5. Food--I've had some coffee this morning, but haven't had any breakfast. . .maybe we'll be taking DH out? We had planned on going to the beach, but the shore we were going to go to is supposed to be overcast all day, according to the weather report. I'll have to come back to this as the day wears on.
6. Scale--I skipped this yesterday (not a good move), but will have to face the music in a couple of minutes.

Yesterday I worked in the early a.m. then headed over to K of P to meet Doreen and Todd. I love those guys! We had a nice healthy lunch of salad and when I ate pound cake from Starbucks, Doreen stayed strong. Why I didn't stay strong, I have no clue, but I know it has to do with the last couple of stressful days I've had. Note to self: cake is not therapy. :p

I've got to get myself organized for church; we're doing an all-music service today. DH and I are both playing except when I sing a solo!

:grouphug: to all,
Erin

Erin,

Sorry I haven't been around. Looks like you hve today well in hand. I happen to love the lemon pound cake at SB. I know how strong that temptation can be. You can cleanse your systemof junk today.

BF out with DH sounds like a wonderful celebration of Father's Day. My DH asked to be let sleep in. I hope you get to go to the beach. A nice walk in the sand sounds like heaven.

Have a great service. I love the all music masses.

Take care,
Beth

:sunny: June 20, 2005 :sunny: It's a new day!

Thanks, Beth and Jen, for stopping by. Yesterday turned out to be a nice day, but I didn't get myself back to where I needed to be. I didn't drink the water, I didn't take my vitamins, I didn't exercise or eat right, BUT I did take a terrific 3.5 hour nap yesterday afternoon, and that, along with God's gentle push, is leading me back on track this morning.

1. Devotions :) "With the arms of the Master around us, and his hands mixing with ours on the keyboard, all of our life's work can truly be beautiful. Our feeble attempts can be turned into true masterpieces." I love music-related devotionals! From the Purpose Driven Life on-line subscription devotional.
2. Vitamins :) Finally I remember to take them!
3. Water--have started my first 12 oz. of 64.
4. Exercise--I'll take Mickey for a walk this a.m. around the neighborhood and then will get out to walk 30 minutes at the park.
5. Food--lite english muffin w/pb, coffee=4 points
6. Scale--UGLY!!! But, I got on it. :)

I'm going exercise 30 min. on 5 different days this week. After weigh-in tomorrow, I'm going to try for a whole solid week of staying on my points (this week I fell apart at the end). Vitamins EVERY day, water EVERY day, scale EVERY day, and of course, devotions EVERY day. I haven't turned upward for strength like I know I need to--I'm going to try to RESIST temptation instead of rationalize myself toward it!

The rest of today's meal plan:

a.m. snack--yogurt (2)
lunch--chicken salad, veggies, and one slice of whole wheat bread (6)
p.m. snack--apple and cheese (4)
dinner--soup and crackers (6) and s.f. cake and milk (4)
Total for the day: 24

I'm just going to take it step by step. Phil. 4:13.

Erin

Edit: Had my yogurt and chicken salad (crackers, not bread). Have had 3 glasses of cool, refreshing water, and walked two miles in the sunshine. :sunny:

Talked with my DMIL this morning about her upcoming heart surgery (she doesn't have a date scheduled yet). She's scared and upset and needs comforting. I want to be the comforter, but honestly, it's wearing and tough on me. I hope to be strong enough to give her the support she needs.

OK, I'm off to pack veggies, cheese, and an apple for my afternoon/evening snacks. I won't be getting to my soup until 9 p.m.

Erin

Edit: Had soft pretzels instead of my soup and crackers. Same point value. I know it's not the same nutrition-wise. I should've packed a sandwich! Still I've stuck to the game plan. I don't have any skim milk at home; I may have to make another substitution for the 4 points for my snack.

I won't get home 'til later, but I'm feeling confident that today will finish successfully--I only have 4 oz. of water left to reach my goal. :bounce:

:goodvibes :goodvibes Sending good thoughts your way today! :goodvibes :goodvibes

Your schedule should be a bit lighter and less stressful now. You may want to give yourself a few extra days to recover your strength - you know how stress takes its toll on us. ::yes:: Your inner strength is still there but maybe it is focused on recharging your batteries. Don't be too hard on yourself if you slip a bit. Work on doing better than yesterday - it will be enough. You'll feel your strength flowing back to you very soon. Definitely try to get your water in though - it feels so cleansing and refreshing!

Love ya,
