Lulu201's Healthy Living Journal--Just trying my best to walk the walk! Come on by!

:flower: :flower: Happy Monday! :flower: :flower:

I'm on my way to the courthouse--jury duty today. I'm mostly concerned about how I'm going to eat!

Yesterday was a :) :) :) :) :) day--everything except exercise. I ended up taking a long nap, though. It was supposed to be another rest day, anyway. Is it OK to rest on the weekend or should I take only one rest day from exercise a week?

Here's today's plan:

1. Devotions :)
2. Vitamins--will take them before I go
3. Water--will take some with me
4. Exercise--I'm already behind the game here. I didn't get up early enough to do it beforehand; now I'm going to have to try to do it late tonight--after jury duty and work.
5. Food--lite english muffin, pb, and coffee=4. Lunch will be a subway wrap--if I can get one in town somewhere. Snacks will be fruit, cheese. Dinner will be something low point that I grab between the courthouse and work.
6. Scale-- :) Still moving back toward 179; still paying for my "free day" on Friday.

Stats for the month:

1. I've read my devotions 24 out of 26 days.
2. I've taken my vitamins 22 out of 26 days.
3. I've had 6-8 glasses of water 18 out of 26 days.
4. I've exercised 13 out of 26 days.
5. I've eaten in a healthy way 13 out of 26 days.
6. I've faced the scale on 22 out of 26 days.

I've got to stay on schedule this morning. Don't want to be late for the judge!

Erin

edit: it's 4:15 and I haven't had enough water. I've had a chicken salad, 3 crackers w/hummus, 2 hard pretzels and a chocolate chip muffin. I think I'd better stop for the day!

Hi Erin,

So did you get out of jury duty? I've always said Nurse, and they say Next. I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

You are on a roll, woman. Keep p the amazing work. Hummus sounds s good right now.

Take care,
Beth

HI Erin :wave2: wow jury duty - I never have been selected. I hope the eatting plan improved. it is so hard when we are away from our norm. I've finally been able to hit the park so let me know if you want to meet up this way. I'm usually good around 8 maybe 7:30. It's been beautiful and I feel great.

How's the biz? I see you're headin for the shore? I miss the beach :sunny:
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
The rainbows of life follow the storms. -Anonymous
To Act:
Never think of failing. (I liked this a lot!)
To Pray:
Dear God, thank You for giving me a fresh start each and every day. (I liked this even more!)

I love this devotion - thanks for sharing! have a pixie filled day :wizard:

June 28, 2005

I don't have much time. . .I have to head out to work, but :wave2: Hi, Beth and Maryellen. Thanks for stopping by.

I sat at jury duty all day--waiting to be called--but I was never picked to interview for a jury. That's OK; now my commitment is done for another 3 years.

Whenever my workload or schedule increases, so does my appetite! I've got to be careful today. It's the beginning of my new week!

The plan:

1. Devotions: :)

My God will fully satisfy every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

-Philippians 4:19 (NRSV)

2. Vitamins--soon
3. Water--soon
4. Exercise-- Slept in, instead
5. Food--banana, lite english muffin w/pb, coffee=8
6. Scale-- :)

Today was my weigh-in day. No loss this week--maybe because I was eating dinner at 9:15 last night? Maybe I'll weigh in tomorrow and use that weight?

Stats for the month:

1. I've read my devotions 25 out of 27 days.
2. I've taken my vitamins 23 out of 27 days.
3. I've had 6-8 glasses of water 18 out of 27 days.
4. I've exercised 13 out of 27 days.
5. I've eaten in a healthy way 13 out of 27 days.
6. I've faced the scale on 23 out of 27 days.

I've got to get down to the studio. . .more later, I hope.
Erin

I think eating late at night definately causes a skewed weigh in the next morning. I would weigh in again tomorrow.

I know you can do this today Erin! Whatever the stress I know that you will make the best choices available to you!

~Amanda

Good morning Erin! :flower:

I love that verse in your devotion this morning! I probably should write it down on several index cards and tape them to my fridge and each and every cupboard that contains food. ::yes::

I hope today is a wonderful day for you! :flower: Take care, Erin!

June 29, 2005

It's just been a bit chaotic around here. . .DD's friend coming and going, trip to the mall, drs. appointment, etc., but I'm going to grab a minute here before I go to work and update things.

Today's plan:

1. Devotions: :)
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
The most important word in the English language is hope. -Eleanor Roosevelt
To Act:
Pause to admire the world.
To Pray:
Dear God, help me to remember how rich it makes me feel to give freely to others.
2. Vitamins: have to go run and take them
3. Water: haven't even started. Will fill my 32 oz. mug before I go to work
4. Exercise:
5. Food: bagel w/strawberry cream cheese for breakfast, 1/4 of a donut, salad for lunch. I have to get a grip on the points here.
6. Scale: 180. :) Down a pound

Stats for the month:

1. I've read my devotions 26 out of 28 days.
2. I've taken my vitamins 24 out of 28 days.
3. I've had 6-8 glasses of water 18 out of 28 days.
4. I've exercised 13 out of 28 days.
5. I've eaten in a healthy way 13 out of 28 days.
6. I've faced the scale on 24 out of 28 days.

My goal is to get around to a few journals before bed tonight!

Erin

Hi Erin,

I am glad you weren't picked for jury duty. Ugh. You are lucky, we can be called yearly. Somehow, I seem to be one of the lucky ones to waste a day.

I hope you are enjoying your evening after a busy day. When does camp start?

Take care,
Beth

Man, oh, man. I'm so sorry that I haven't been around to journal. I'm out of my usual routine (it's 10 a.m. for Pete's sake!) and I'm just getting to my plan!

So, here's where I am: yesterday I got :) :) :) . Not too good, but today's going to be a better day--I can feel it! :cool1:

The plan:

1. Devotions: :)
2. Vitamins: :)
3. Water: Almost 32 oz. done already! :flower:
4. Exercise: :) 1.25 miles. Not a great distance, but it's something.
5. Food: english muffin, coffee=5. A.m. snack will be yogurt (2). Lunch will be tuna and crackers (7). Afternoon snack will be apple and cheese (4). Dinner will be raisin bran and skim milk. (5)
6. Scale: :)

The stats:

1. I've read my devotions 27 out of 29 days.
2. I've taken my vitamins 25 out of 29 days.
3. I've had 6-8 glasses of water 18 out of 29 days.
4. I've exercised 13 out of 29 days.
5. I've eaten in a healthy way 13 out of 29 days.
6. I've faced the scale on 25 out of 29 days.

Thanks for stopping by yesterday, Beth. Camp starts on July 11th, and I've got TONS to do before then. I've got faith it'll all get done, though--it always does. :)

I'm not going to even try to make a promise to get to everyone's journals today. DD has a friend staying until tomorrow and I've got to chauffer them here and there in between lessons.

Off and into the day--
Erin

Edit: Well, I've almost finished a 2nd mug of water. A.M. snack ended up being a small soft pretzel (3) , and lunch (at 2:45) was a salad and wheat roll from salad works (18). I guess I've had enough for the day! :p
Dinner will be around 8:30 or so and will be a bowl of cereal at 4. I've got to stick to this and BEHAVE!

Good Morning princess: Erin! Thank you so much for your post in my journal. It lifted my spirits this morning. You are such a wonderful person and I feel blessed to have you in my life.

~Amanda

 to you, Amanda. I'm glad to have you as my friend. :goodvibes

YAY! It's a new month! I love new days, new weeks, new months, new years--all signs of a new beginning! Today I'm going to spend a few minutes in my journal recapping June and setting my sights on a successful, healthy July.

First, stats of June:

1. I've read my devotions 28 out of 30 days. 90%
2. I've taken my vitamins 26 out of 30 days. 86%
3. I've had 6-8 glasses of water 19 out of 30 days. 63%
4. I've exercised 14 out of 30 days. 46%
5. I've eaten in a healthy way 14 out of 30 days. 46%
6. I've faced the scale on 26 out of 30 days. 86%

Well, it's not difficult to see where my areas of improvement need to be! I'm eating right and exercising less than half the time! I still lost 3 lbs. in June--just think how much I'd lose if I actually "walked the walk" a little more often!
The other stats--well, I'm fairly pleased with those.

In July I'd like to improve #3, 4, and 5, but I know it's going to take a LOT of conscious effort because there's so much going on this month. There will be traveling, the musical, picnics, etc. Lots of events that typically are my cues to overeat. I'm going to have to have a game plan EVERY DAY if I'm going to treat myself in the most respectful way.

So, here's the plan for TODAY. It's Friday, and Fridays are dangerous for me, but I'm going to be proactive here and get a detailed plan going:

1. Devotions :)
2. Vitamins :)
3. Water--beginning my first glass
4. Exercise--will go for a walk shortly
5. Food--breakfast: lite english muffin w/pb and coffee=4. Snack will be yogurt at 2. Lunch will be tuna salad and crackers=6. PM snack will be some veggies. Dinner will be a salad. Evening dessert will be jello and whipped topping.
6. Scale-- :) holding at 180.

I signed up for the 5 for July challenge and will sign up for the exercise challenge, too. They'll help to keep me focused on a short term goal. When I lose 5 lbs, I'm going to get a manicure or do something fun for myself.

Now I'm off and into the day!
Erin

Edit: had 32 oz. of water, yogurt, decaf w/skim--total for day so far:7

Hi Erin!

I hope you have a safe, relaxing, healthy, and wonderful 4th of July weekend! :cloud9:

Take care!

:sunny: Good morning, dear Erin!! :sunny:

I haven't had time to figure my June stats yet - seeing yours in your journal reminded me. :p Looks like you did a great job with devotions - starting your day in a God-centered way!!

The beach turned out to be much less stressful than I thought it would be. Thanks for your kind words and support in that area. I'll be crossing my fingers that your experience is as good or better.

Now it's a new month and we're ready to "move it and lose it", right? I'm going to focus on my exercise this month. This is a tough month for me because hot & humid weather is usually an excuse to sit on my butt in air-conditioned comfort. :p Are you up for a mini-challenge with me?? I propose a 70% exercise goal for the month, in spite of our busy schedules and the heat. What do you say???? Oh, and the days when you are busy with theater camp COUNT as exercise since you'll be up and moving with the kids on those days!

Let's take on this new month and shine :sunny: , dear Erin!

 &

:sunny: What a :sunny: way to start my day, Doreen! :sunny: Your visit has brought motivation and :goodvibes . Thanks!

OK, I'm up for the challenge (and I especially like the idea of the camp-being-exercise :p )! Today I'm planning on a 3.75 mile walk as soon as I'm done here.

Yesterday was a :) :) :) :) :) :) ! My 1st for July! :Pinkbounc That means my stats are as follows:

1. I've read my devotions 1 out of 1 day.
2. I've taken my vitamins 1 out of 1 day.
3. I've had 6-8 glasses of water 1 out of 1 day.
4. I've exercised 1 out of 1 day.
5. I've eaten in a healthy way 1 out of 1 day.
6. I've faced the scale on 1 out of 1 day.

So now I'm determined to make today ANOTHER 6-er. Here's the plan:

1. Devotions :) Our purpose in life is to worship and enjoy God.
2. Vitamins :)
3. Water--the first of 2 32 oz. mugs has been started!
4. Exercise--3.75 is the plan
5. Food--breakfast is 4. Snack will be my yogurt at 2. Lunch will be tuna (not eaten yesterday) at 6. P.M. snack will be veggies. Dinner will be light, but I don't know what yet.
6. Scale--180 :)

Yesterday I stayed on track, but I've decided to switch my weigh-in day to Friday. Friday will be my free day, like Amanda. I'll endeavor to not binge and make decent choices, but knowing I have a day where I don't worry about it, will help me, I think. And since Friday seems to be my hardest day, this lets some of the pressure off. Also, having 6 days AFTER Friday to recover from any mistakes will help my weigh-ins (I'm hoping :p ).

I'm glad that you had a good trip, Doreen. I think ours will be nice, too. . .I'm looking forward to it, almost as much as OUR TRIP TO WDW 9/29-10/4! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc We just couldn't pass up the free dining promotion, so we're going to take Liz out of school for 2 days and go down to celebrate her birthday. The air fare is purchased, the ressie is set: WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD! :earboy2: Of course, we might get blown away by a hurricane, but hey, what can I say? We're risk-takers! :p
Seriously, though, I think that knowing we're going to WDW will help me to give my in-laws more of the caretaking they'll need from me.

So, enough of the chatter, I've got to get myself out to the park and onto the walking trail. Then it's off to the studio to work ALL DAY on camp. Yesterday was a total bust work-wise--went to the travel agent (waste of time) and then to see "War of the Worlds." DD and I shook through the whole movie and then again last night during a tremendous lightning and thunder storm. (If you've seen the movie, you'll know why!) Anyway, now I've got twice as much work to do, but that's OK, it'll all get done.

Tomorrow I play at church and then leave for the annual camping trip in the mountains. What can I say? It's one night, once a year. . .I'll grin and bear it.

I'm moving forward, into the day, looking Upward for my strength to stay on plan!

Erin

Edit: finished my 3.75 :) and have had my snack. I'm starting mug #2! :cool1:

Edit: Smilie for water, too! As a matter of fact, I've had a lot! I want to eat something (it's 10:30 and I'm tired and hungry), but if I do, I'll fall off plan, I just know it.

Plan for tomorrow: get up EARLY (say 6 a.m.) so that I can walk from 6:30-7:30 at the park. That'll give me shower and "get ready" time before church, and it'll get my 3.75 in. I think I'm going to get the clothes in the dryer and hit the hay!

 A DISNEY TRIP - YAHOO!!!!
:flower: A SIX SMILIE DAY :flower:

You are on a roll, Erin!! You've got so many great things goin' on AND you're walking that healthy living walk! :cool1: BRAVO!!

:moped: Now, motor on through your day and stay on track!!

I'm here to celebrate my :) :) :) :) :) :) day yesterday! :Pinkbounc Oh, I'm also here to plan out today so I can celebrate again tomorrow!

Stats for July:

1. I've read my devotions 2 out of 2 days.
2. I've taken my vitamins 2 out of 2 days.
3. I've had 6-8 glasses of water 2 out of 2 days.
4. I've exercised 2 out of 2 days.
5. I've eaten in a healthy way 2 out of 2 days.
6. I've faced the scale on 2 out of 2 days.

Plan for today:

I'm on my way to the mountains for a camp-out  . I tend to overeat (out of stress) at these things with my in-laws, but today I'm going to try to stay focused. Heck, it's only one night! :teeth:

1. Devotions: :)
2. Vitamins--out on the counter ready to go
3. Water--same as vitamins
4. Exercise--all dressed and ready to hit the park. I'll walk for whatever I have time for; I'll do more walking in the mountains (for my sanity) .
5. Food--breakfast was 4. I'm bringing my WW things with me so I can keep track.
6. Scale--looking better this a.m. at 179. :)

I'll be going to church then leaving for the Poconos; I probably won't get back here 'til tomorrow. I know I haven't been great at journaling lately, but I do what I can. . . :grouphug: to all.

Erin

Edit: Vitamins and exercise :) . Skipped my a.m. snack, will have it in the car on the road. Am 1/2 way through my first mug of water.

Erin's going to Disney! Erin's going to Disney! Erin's going to Disney!!!! :dancer: :jumping1: I am so excited for you! :Pinkbounc

I hope you have a wonderful time today! :flower:

:cloud9: 2 very smilie days!!! :cloud9:

I hope you and your family have a safe and FUN trip to the mountains. Enjoy God's beautiful world!!

Happy day, everyone. :)

I'm home from family camping. We all survived. That's all I want to say about that.

Here are my stats as of 7/3:

1. I've read my devotions 3 out of 3 days.
2. I've taken my vitamins 3 out of 3 days.
3. I've had 6-8 glasses of water 3 out of 3 days.
4. I've exercised 3 out of 3 days.
5. I've eaten in a healthy way 2 out of 3 days.
6. I've faced the scale on 3 out of 3 days.

Yeah, you read that right--I got all of my smilies except for food. :sad2: When I got to the mountains I completely, and I mean COMPLETELY, caved. I ate compulsively from the time I got there until I went to bed last night. Talk about an addict. I did take a walk with Dpup for 30 minutes and also stole away for a 30 minute nap because my head ached so, but all the rest of the time I was eating.

Today I'm trying to let that go, though, and have done OK. I plotted out all my food on fitday and while I'm not sure of the points yet, I know I'm doing OK calorie-wise. I've done my devotions, had my water and vitamins, and after a nap, I'll go for a long, healing walk.

I'm glad to come here and regain my focus.

That's all for now.

Erin

Edit: The day turned out to be really positive. I drank all the water, stayed OP food-wise, and walked 5 miles in the park after dinner. I've regained my perspective on family events: we can only be responsible for ourselves and how we treat others. As long as we try to be as respectful and decent as we can, we've done all that is necessary. We can't always understand everyone, but we can be kind.

So, I've processed the holiday weekend :p and I'm ready to take on a new week. Here's the food plan for tomorrow:

breakfast: raisin bran w/skim milk and coffee=6
a.m. snack: yogurt with strawberries=3
lunch: chicken parm. (5 oz.)=10
p.m. snack: graham crackers (2 squares) and 1 tbsp. pb=3
dinner: tuna and crackers=6
dessert: s.f. jello w/whipped topping=0 or 1

Total for day is 28 or 29. 24 TP, 2 AP, 2 or 3 FP.

I'm going to get up early with DH and get out to walk early; I'm going to have to start getting out at the beginning of the day if I'm going to get exercise in at all the next couple of weeks.

Time for bed--
Erin

:) :) :) :) :) :) for 7/4!

Oh, yeah, here I am, getting ready for another healthy living day. How blessed I am to be moving forward with a strong body, ready to take on the challenges ahead!

Here's the plan:

1. Devotions :)
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
Never let your doubt blind your goals, for your future lies in your ability, not your failure. -Anonymous
To Act:
Recognize that growing and becoming is a life-long process.
To Pray:
Lord, catch me when I slip and fall, and set me safe again on Your sure path.
2. Vitamins--set out and ready to take
3. Water--First 32 oz. ready to start
4. Exercise--going to the park to walk Mickey 1.25, and then will come home and walk another 2 in the development.
5. Food--have modified the plan from yesterday a bit; had my english muffin breakfast instead (4)--fewer points.
6. Scale-- :) it's moving back down in the right direction, but I know I can't lose focus between now and Friday if I'm going to have a good weigh-in.

Lots to do today, so I'm going to hit a couple of journals and then get on it.

Moving forward and looking Upward,
Erin

Edit: had the vitamins, am starting the 2nd 32 ozer, walked Mickey. Haven't done another 2 miles yet. . .if I can get to it, I will. If not, no worries. Food: yogurt and berries (3), lunch will be tuna and crackers (6). Dinner looks like pork chop, broccoli, and baked potato. I feel a 6 :) coming on! :earboy2:

Edit: p.m. snack was 2 graham crackers and 1 tbsp. pb=3 Total so far for today: 16. 8 Target left, 1 AP, and 16 FP in the bank. Have had even more water!
