Lulu201's Healthy Living Journal--Just trying my best to walk the walk! Come on by!

Thanks, friends, for stopping by. Your visits have already added sunshine to my day!

 Let's hear it for another 6 :) Day yesterday!

Here's where I'm at for the month of June:

1. 7/30 :) Devotions
2. 8/30 :) Vitamins
3. 7/30 :) Water
4. 6/30 :) Exercise
5. 5/30 :) Food
6. 7/30 :) Scale

Here's the plan for Thursday, June 9, 2005:

1. Devotions: :) Jist (gist?) of the devotional: We're all sinners united by our need for Jesus Christ.
2. Vitamins: :) Set them out for next week also.
3. Water: Have had about 8 oz. so far. . .only 56 more oz. to go!
4. Exercise: Took Mickey for his .5; I'm headed to the park for my 2.3 in a minute.
5. Food: 4 points for breakfast. .5 for an extra cup of decaf w/creamer. Snack will be frozen grapes and cheese at 3. Lunch will be Mc.D. salad at 10.
P.M. snack will be veggies and mini-pretzel for 3. Dinner will be soup and crackers at 6. Dessert will be s.f. tastee cake and skim milk at 4. Total for day=30.5-24TP=6.5-2AP=4.5-4.5FP=0 If I'm feeling good while I'm out walking, I might do a bit more so I can earn my AP and use less flex. We'll see how I'm doing in the heat.
6. Scale: Moved to 178. :)

I'm loving how I'm feeling being back on plan. Why do I ALWAYS resist it so initially????? I keep looking Upward for the desire to be on this plan and to WANT to pursue healthy living goals; I can do all things through Christ who strenthens me. :goodvibes I think it helps that I've got an outfit in mind for the end of June--it's a little tight now, but by then I hope to be looking fine!

OK, I'm headed to a couple of journals and then I'm going to straighten up the house and head out to work. I have a full teaching day ahead; it's going to be fun.

Til later,
Erin

Edit: 11:15. 3. :) Had all my water already! What can I say--it was hot out! 4. Exercise: :) Total of 40 minutes. 5. Had my grapes and cheese (3). They WERE yummy, Amanda!

Edit: 7:40 p.m. Snacks: 2 mini-pretzels at 3 each=6. Veggies=0. McDonald's salad=10 Total so far: 23.5. I'm going to skip my soup and have my cake and milk, calling it a day at 27.5. 1.5 from flex instead of 4.5. I'm happier with that. Heck, it's almost my bed-time. . I don't need more to eat!

YOU KNOW WHAT? I'M CALLING THIS A 6 :) AND SIGNING OFF FOR THURSDAY!

Good Morning Erin!!!! Have a totally awesome weight losin' Thursday! :goodvibes

Good thoughts are coming your way!

Sounds like your day is off to a great start! And your attitude is so great! Have a healthy and happy day today!

Erin your day sounds fantastic! Especially the frozen grapes - I love frozen grapes! Glad to see the 2 lbs are gone! - WHOO HOOO!

~Amanda

 Today is Friday! Today is Friday!

As of yesterday:
:) Count
1. 8/30
2. 9/30
3. 8/30
4. 7/30
5. 6/30
6. 8/30

:sunny: Today's a new day and all I have to handle. :sunny:

1. Devotions :) "Dear God, Help us to see life from your perspective."
2. Vitamins :)
3. Water--12 oz/64 oz.
4. Exercise--walk the dog, go for a two miler
5. Food-breakfast was 4. I'll plan more later
6. Scale :)

OK, got the day outlined here. Have to take DD to school and will be back later.

E.

Edit: 4. walked the dog, but haven't made it our for my walk yet. I'll do it. . .I'm just not too enthused today. Maybe after I get a few things done on my "to do" list. 3. 30 oz. done.

5. Snack will be yogurt and grapes (3). Lunch and dinner have yet to be determined.

Today DH and I have to get things together for our studio recitals this weekend, plus we have to figure out all the logistics of DDs social life. I'm telling you, Doreen, I don't know how you do it with TWO teens!

DMIL is meeting with the heart surgeon later this month to discuss open heart valve replacement for the beginning of July. She hopes to have it done and out of the way before our vacation together towards the end of August. I get weary just thinking about it; I can't imagine how she feels!

Edit #2: snack was grapes, no yogurt (1). Lunch was a sandwich (4) and a banana (2). Instead of exercising this morning, I took a nap in my gym clothes. :cloud9: I'm going to try to take a leisurely stroll tonight after the sun goes down. Water is almost done for today!

Edit #3: 5. had dessert early today  since dinner will be kind of late. I had one caramel candy (1) and my s.f. cake (1) with a latte (2) made with skim milk. I haven't been drinking coffee w/caffeine in the p.m., so this was a big ole treat for me today! 3. :) for water today; but still haven't had my walk. . .

Morning Erin! Just in case you didn't notice --- IT'S FRIDAY! Doesn't that just put a big ole :teeth: on your face? I know it does for me. You journal has been so positive and inspiring lately. Keep you chin up today princess: Erin and I'm sure you'll seee 6 :) at the end of the day.

~Amanda

Just a quick update here. . .

I had a busy weekend with all kinds of recitals and church services and running DD around to her friends' houses. Somewhere in there I threw my back out and am now kinda. . .well. . .let's just say "uncomfortable." I've had my ibu and I'm headed to go lie down on a nice flat surface. My healthy living has been in the toilet the last few days, but tomorrow's Monday and I feel a fresh re-focus coming on. :goodvibes

Love to all,
Erin

OK, it's a brand new week!

Here's the plan:

1. Devotions :) "The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise grows it under his feet"~J. Oppenheim
2. Vitamins
3. Water
4. Exercise--not today; too much back pain. I'll take Mickey out for a sllooww stroll, though.
5. Food--back on track today, counting those points.
6. Scale--I just couldn't look :sad2: . Tomorrow will be soon enough.

On my way to school. . .
Erin

Edit#1: 2. :) , 3. 24 oz. so far, 5. Breakfast: toast w/pb+coffee=4. Snack: small slice of leftover Sicilian pizza=8 :confused3 Lunch will be fruit and yogurt at 3 points.

I went back and updated my :) stats for June:

1. Devotions--10/30
2. Vitamins--11/30
3. Water--9/30
4. Exercise--7/30
5. Food--6/30
6. Scale--10/30

I'm not overly proud of these stats, but they're not too bad. I realized once again this week that if I choose not to stay on plan for even a day, I won't have a loss for the week. It's a sad, but true, fact for me at this time of my life.

I'm tired today, but :sunny: . This morning I got the house straightened up and ran out for some fruits and veggies. I've got some paper work to do and lots of lessons this afternoon and evening; I won't be home until around 9. DD and I are looking ahead to next Monday morning--no alarm clock! :Pinkbounc Last day of school is this Friday! :Pinkbounc

I'm going to try to pop by some journals and will then hit the paperwork.

June 14, 2005

Here's where I am:

1. Devotions 11/30
2. Vitamins 12/30
3. Water 10/30
4. Exercise 7/30
5. Food 6/10
6. Scale 10/30

Yesterday I earned :) for devotions, vitamins, and water. I was totally off plan again for food. Facing the scale this morning has scared me to the straight and narrow again.

Here's how the day is looking

1. Devotions :)
2. Vitamins :)
3. Water--two oz. glasses so far
4. Exercise--will walk 1.25 with Mickey. My back is not right yet; I just can't walk my usual 2 miler.
5. Food--lite english muffin w/peach jelly=2
6. Scale :) Weighing in at 183. :earseek:

I'm very unhappy with my weight, but there's no one else to blame now, is there? Today's plan: a.m. snack--8 oz. of skim milk (2), lunch--yogurt and fruit (3), coffee w/cream (1), p.m. snack--veggies. Dinner--chicken caesar salad at saladworks (15). Dessert: skim milk and s.f. tastycake=4. Total for day=27/24TP, 3 FP.

I'm not going to spend any time moaning about how losing control of my weight makes me feel. Instead, I'm just going to do something about it. I know what I have to do and what I haven't done.

Off into the day--
Erin

Edit: OK, I'm reading around and I see that my WISH princess: pals are struggling, just like me. Amanda, Beth, Doreen--I'm feeling your pain. Still we've proven we're in this for the long haul, and I know that we are not going to be taken down!

I'm going to stay on plan today. That's it.

Edit #2: I've gotten a lot done this morning. . .paperwork and housework. I've had a lot of water--about 40 oz. so far. I had my a.m. snack and soon will begin my lunch.

Edit #3: water almost done. Had lunch. Went to Saladworks website and found out how many points the salad I like is--they must've updated it recently. Anyway, I'm going to have the chicken mandarin salad at 14 pts. :)

 coming your way, dear Erin. I can empathize with your feelings about your weight - am going through the same thing myself. I know the process is not helped by the meds I'm on. All we can do is eat healthy nutritious foods that fuel our bodies with vitamins and minerals, move our bodies with healthy exercise to keep us limber and strong, drink refreshing water to help our bodies stay hydrated, and do the best we can do. The weight is what it is. We just need to focus on treating ourselves the best we can and let the weight take care of itself - easier said than done when the clothes in the closet are not fitting the way we'd like, I know.

Today is a new day, full of hope and promise. With God's help, we'll make the most of it.

Thanks so much for being such a wonderful friend, Erin. I appreciate all the many ways you've touched my life. I am truly blessed to call you friend.

 Thanks, Doreen, for being a part of my life. Where would I be if I hadn't found you on the WISH???? :confused3 Your message here has given me added strength for the day ahead.

Erin

Dear Erin, you may have sf chocolate if you'd like. :p Right now the flavor of chocolate is a trigger for me and will lead me to "the Dark Side" :teeth: so I'm going to stay away from it altogether for today.

Thanks for walking with me :cool1: :cool1: down this healthy living road.

Today, we'll do the best we can and it will be good enough.

Well, you know what I think, Doreen? I think that you shouldn't deprive yourself of chocolate. I think that you should reward yourself at the end of the day with some of those Dove darks that you like so much--just a couple that you can savor and adore. If your body's screaming for it, give in--but on YOUR terms. Think about you when you've been the most successful at healthy living. . .you didn't totally deny yourself chocolate; you incorporated it into your lifestyle. That said, though, I realize that you know yourself, and if you can't have any chocolate now without eating the whole darn bag, then you're wise (and strong) to stay away. Ya do what 'cha gotta do.

So, I'll have my s.free tastycake, but I WON'T have any Hershey's kisses. :p

Good morning Erin,

You are not alone. :grouphug: I am struggling with my weight right now too. I've been on my weight loss journey for over a year and a half now and at one point, I had lost 25 pounds. I gained a few back and I seem to be stuck in the 202-208 pound range. It is so frustrating! Especially since, I have been working out and trying to watch what I eat.

It's hard when so many of us are struggling, but we need to keep on keeping on, realizing that this is a journey and that there will be bumps, bruises, and weight loss plateaus along the way. If we all stick together, we can do this! :grouphug: (And maybe celebrate at WDW as a reward! :teeth: )

Hang in there , Erin! You CAN do this!!! :cheer2:

Have a blessed day, my friend. :grouphug:

What is in the water around here ;)
Sounds like we are all having issues today. I like your plan today and I hope your back starts to feel better soon. Thank you for the note in my journal it made me :) this morning.
I hope the scale is kinder to you tomorrow!

~Amanda

Hi Erin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITA. Is it in the OH water too? Feel better, Miss Erin!

 Erin,

Yes, we are all struggling. I think part of it how busy we are right now. There is only so much we can focus on at once. Here's the good news. We are in this together. We can support each other on the good days and the bad. Lets work for more good days than bad. One thing I do know is that you are a determined woman, and you can do anything you set your mind to.

How's the back? You need to take good care of it and yourself. Keep the ibu going for a couple of days beyond it feeling better just to be safe.

,
Beth

:sunny: Good morning! :sunny: I've got to get the ole healthy living plan into action. Yesterday I earned 5 :) --everything except the exercise. I only made it .5 of a mile with Mickey before the heat got the best of him.

Stats so far this month:

1. Devotions 12/30
2. Vitamins 13/30
3. Water 11/30
4. Exercise 7/30
5. Food 7/30
6. 11/30

I'm going to watch my points again today: I'm on Weight Watchers in a serious way. (If I say that enough I'll actually DO it, right?)

1. Devotions :)
2. Vitamins--will take after breakfast
3. Water--have started
4. Exercise--2.5 miles planned
5. Food: Breakfast will be a donut and coffee (DD and I are going to Dunkin Donuts this morning). One thing I love about WW is its flexibility. I looked up the point value of different donuts so I can stay on plan. A "vanilla frosted" is only 5. :Pinkbounc Late a.m. snack will be fresh fruit salad (1) and yogurt (2). I've still got to think about the rest.
6. Scale: back down to 180, but I'm not going to change my siggie until next Tuesday. :)

I've got to leave early today, so I'm going to close for now. More later.
Erin

Edit: I'm back :wave2: and have had my vitamins :) , my exercise :) , and some more water. Boy, that donut was good! Lunch will be chicken salad w/black olives, light mayo, and crackers for about 8. Afternoon snack will be celery and cream cheese (2). Dinner will be soup and crackers at 6. Snack/dessert will be frozen grapes at 1. total number of points for the day is 25 (24T plus 1 F). I have an Activity Point if I want to spend it, but I may not. I took a slow walk this a.m., so I can only count it as Low intensity, but it felt good to be out moving around. I've got my pedometer on today for the fun of it.

I really enjoyed my walk today--I even sat down on a park bench and just vegged. The morning was so beautiful and I felt very blessed.

On to get some chores done--
Erin

You sound so confident! I hope the :sunny: shines all day for you today and helps you feel cheery as you do your chores. I'm back to counting carbs like you are counting points - nice to know we are doing it together! Have a great day princess: Erin!
~Amanda

Hi Erin!

It sounds like a terrific start to your day! I hope you have a wonderful day, filled with God's blessings! :flower:
