I'm sending some extra :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: for you today, to help you combat the grey feelings that come with all the grey days we've been having. I hear we'll get to see the sun again this weekend, even if it comes with an Arctic blast of cold air. :teeth:

I hope you're starting to feel better. I see a couple good weeks in your future!

Continuing on with 1/14. . .

I have to tell you how I appreciate all the visits from you guys. I'm feeling much better today. . .I'm climbing out of that pit (think of the smilie Terry sent last month) and am ready to get "back into action."

I think this month's hormonal struggle was a fairly minor one--I only lost 5 days of my healthy lifestyle. Today I'll be back on the treadie and will release my hold on everything chocolate. I think the regular exercise I maintained until Sunday helped minimize the damage done in the DZONE, though I'm not going to post my official weight in the January Challenge until next Friday.

Over the years I've learned a lot about my own particular struggles on the TOM rollercoaster and with encouragement from my healthy living buddies I've learned to anticipate the ride, but I'm getting a little thrown lately with the changes in my 43 yr. old body. Gotta learn to :boat: and ride the wave. I've found that knowledge is power, though, and plan to get to the library to get some good books on perimenopause.

I posted to Doreen's journal, but I just feel like I have to mention here how much her picture of crossing the finish line (while signing the "e" and "b") meant to me. It touched me so,so deeply. I feel so blessed to have you as my friend, Doreen. You know that. While I was in NY, I watched the clock and imagined you there at the line around 9:30. I told my family, "Doreen's all finished now. . ." But really the victory and the sense of accomplishment was just beginning for you!

Today I'm going to strive to not strive! :D I'm going to use this morning before work to recharge some of my batteries. I'm going to sit down with my prayer journal and Bible and read some Psalms, Proverbs, and Philippians. I'm going to practice the piano and read some teaching publications with the puppy by my side. I'm going to walk on the treadie and drink lots of water and set my vitamins out for the upcoming week. I'm NOT going to worry about the Christmas stuff that isn't all away yet or the vacuuming that needs to be done. I'll get to it. . .eventually.

Tomorrow is the weigh in for the National Body Challenge. It should be fun to be part of an "official" event.

Off to visit a couple of more journals--
Erin

Good Morning Erin! I can tell you that you and Beth were in me and Doe's thoughts all through the walk! :)

Sounds like you have a nice and relaxing day planned - can I come join you? :earboy2:

~Amanda

Erin,

What a great plan to strive to not strive. Sounds like you will be recharged with your prayer and reading plan. Good for you! You have such a wonderful positive outlook.

I've had major issues with my cycle ups and downs, too. As you mentioned, I learned to track the cycle and anticipate the ride. It helps! Then, just when you think you've got it, the body goes into "random" mode! Good luck! Let me know if you find any good books on perimetapause.

Sundie

Hi Erin,

I'm glad things are starting to even out for you. You certainly deserve a relaxing weekend. You can and will ride the DZone wave. Enjoy the time cuddling with your puppy.

Have a great weekend,
Beth

Erin,
ANY smilie you want, just let me know and I will post it! It's the little things that help us feel better and I am here to help!

Okay, so I love smilies too.

Get back on that treadmill and start walking.

Don't worry about your speed or even your distance. Just do 20-30 minutes. It will really help. I never want to walk after I get my shot (ESPECIALLY this past shot! OUCH!) but I know how much better I will feel so I do it. I know you will feel better too.

Give that cute poochie an extra pat from me! I love dogs and they are good for our health too!

Hey Erin, you know what this guy is doing ---> :cool1: He's doing the "I earned 6 smilies today dance"! :teeth: Way to go! :jumping4:

So, um, are you *gulp* ready to tackle the big bad gym...

My nerves are starting to come back, I still have to make my appointment for monday, I've been putting it off. I'll do it tomorrow. Kick me if I don't come on here tomorrow and say that I made it!

I hope you have a great weigh in tomorrow and a wonderful weekend! :flower1:

Just look at all those smilies!!!! WOWSERS!!!! You ROCK!!

Wish I could be at KofP tomorrow, but won't be able to make it. :( We'll have to find another time to get together. ::yes::

Hope the weigh-in goes well! I'll be weighing in at home.

Good morning! It's Saturday, January 15, 2005!

Oh, my gosh! I love you guys! :grouphug: Thanks for all stopping by! It's so much fun to come here and see that you've been here: Doreen, Amanda, Beth, Tracy, Sundie, Terry, Michelle--you're awesome! The happiness you bring here motivates me every day to keep on plugging away. Thank you!

And I'm plugging away. I'm up to 176 this morning, but I'm not going to despair. No, I'm going to drink the pounds away. I'm going to drink enough water to sink a battleship today AND I'm going to work to get another 6 :D .
Terry, I did my walk yesterday and it felt so good to move my body--even for those two little miles. I know I'll do it again today.

Yesterday's food was from the Beach, but I ate too many nuts for an afternoon snack. I got out my WW calculator and figured out the points and YIKES! I've got to be careful with that. I'm going to work today to stay within 26-28 points. Combining the Beach w/ WW will help me get a better idea of what I can eat portion-wise, I think.

So, the plan:

1. Devotions: 13/31 :D
2. Vitamins: 14/31 :D
3. Water: 12/31 :D
4. Exercise: After going to the NBC and seeing my body fat %, I hit the treadie hard: 3 miles in 42 minutes! 10/31 :D
5. Food: b was a slice of whole grain toast w/pb and coffee (5), s will be a cheesestick (2), l will be tuna w/a couple of whole crain crackers (6-7). s was 3 bites of ice cream. DD shared hers. This was a victory--I didn't get my own! Dinner was out at Bertucci's, but I passed up the bread and ate only about 1/3 cup pasta. I'm OK with this. I'm calling this a successful day. 9/31 :D
6. Scale: 15/31 :D

After work, I'm going to get all the Christmas stuff put away before I lose it! Also have to do wash, get to Target, shop for healthy foods, go to the NBC weigh-in. . .busy but fun day ahead. I'll check in here and visit around.

Doreen, are you still thinking about the Phila. Half? I think we have to call and see if there's any more room.

Michelle, I'll be at the BBGym on Monday. Do we have to make appointments? I guess I'll find that out today when I get my NBC packet.

Onward and downward, looking Upward,
Erin :flower:

Hi Erin!

I'm Jen and a newbie! I just wanted to intorduce myself and tell you how inspiring I think you are!
:flower1:

Erin, here's the website for the Philly half. Registration hasn't opened yet.
http://www.philadistancerun.org/
It looks like their time limit is the same as the Disney half - 3.5 hours from the 8 AM start. That means a 15 minute mile or better pace will be important. Maybe we should train to run 5 minutes, walk 5 minutes or some other split between a run & walk. I'm still thinking about that one. They have a Health Expo on Saturday and then the race on Sunday. At least they start at 8 AM - not in the dark, like Disney. :p Check it out and start thinking about whether you'd like to do it.

Your menu looks yummy and your plan for today looks busy, but I bet you'll fall into bed feeling good that you got it all done! ::yes::

Best wishes for a wonderful day!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

You are coming back with a vengence princess: Erin! I think it would be so cool if you and Doe did the Philly half! Keep us posted on that! :) Your menu looks good and I know you are going to be drinking those pounds away!

~Amanda

Hello Erin :flower1: You really have a plan going - and today looks sooo busy - wow I thought I was the only one with christmas decorations still up, they're driving me nuts too :) So a combination of southbeach & ww - why both? I know alot of atkins people switch to southbeach, I don't know if I will or not  are you planning for the philly marathon? I'm off to check their site when I'm done here. It was great that you called doreen on marathon morning - you are such a great friend! she was thrilled.

Have a wonderful weekend and stay focused :earseek:

January 16, 2005 It's Sunday morning, and I just want to post my plan for the day here before I get started.

1. Devotions :D 14/31
2. Vitamins: 14/31 :D
3. Water: 13/31 :D
4. Exercise: 11/31 :D Walked two very slow miles on the treadie. Still not feeling up to par (check out later post about the nasty headache). I'm glad I did it, though. I'm proud of that.
5. Food: kashi cereal w/1 tbsp. sliced almonds, 2/3 cup soy milk drink, hazelnut coffee w/1% milk. A little bit of grilled chicken, olives, on thin triscuits (no trans fatty acid) for lunch. An orange in the p.m. Little bit of baked ziti DH made and a yellow pepper. Skinny cow for dessert. How come illness doesn't take away my appetite???? 10/31 :D
6. Scale: back down to 175 this a.m. 16/31 :D

Christmas decorations still up. Wash not done. Oh, man, I'm really behind! It'll get done. . .won't it? :earboy2:

'Til later,
Erin

Edit: OK, the migraine had me down for a good part of the day, but I made a deal with myself that I'd get up every half hour or so and just do what I could as far as Christmas decorations went. I got a lot down (DH got the bare tree out and into the garage!!!) and while it's not back to normal, I'm feeling better about it.

Good morning Erin,

Thank you so much for the post in my journal. It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for caring about me and for sharing Phil 4:13 with me.

Now... lets' do the van happy dance..... :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: (It's great exercise I hear! :teeth: )

And some music to help with the van happy dance..... :rockband:

Have a great Sunday! :flower1:

Of course it will all get done! The reality is that there are no "decoration police" waiting outside your door. You'll put them all away when you get a chance - no worries. By the way, I still need to take down my tabletop tree in the living room and some of the outside lights. ;) If there really ARE "decoration police", please distract them for another day or two! :teeth:

Please remember that the Sabbath is a day of rest and reflection, a day to celebrate being Christian. If you do decide to do some work around the house, do it at a leisurely pace.

We're back on track, girlfriend! Walking the healthy living walk. Just watch that weight melt off! :sunny:

Yeah you guys have until at least Valentines Day before the decoration police start making the rounds. ;)
