Lulu201's Back In Action Journal

It's a new day, princess: Erin, and a great day to escape to the Beach! We've got that rainy grey weather here so the Beach sounds delightful about now! You had a good plan for yesterday - I hope it went smoothly. Changes can be a bit bumpy in the beginning but soon it will come easily for you. ::yes::

I hope your day is filled with inner :sunny: and lots of :)!

Today is January 4, 2005

Well, I'm still basking in the :sunny: of yesterday's 6 :D day; I like how a little success on the ole program can make me feel. I'm ready to do it again today! :Pinkbounc

I have to admit, however, that I don't FEEL like walking. I feel like sleeping. It's so grey and rainy here. . .it would be nice just to hop under the covers. It ain't gonna happen, though, so here I go,
The plan:

1. Devotions 4/31 :D
2. Vitamins 4/31 :D
3. Water--4/31 :D
4. Exericise--what else? 2 treadie miles. Been there, done that! 4/31 :D
5. Food--I have to say, I loved my first day at the Beach. . .I've always known I'm a shore person! :flower: Here's what I'm doing today:
b: whole wheat English muffin w/a brushing of melted butter (won't have the liquid spray stuff 'til DH goes grocery shopping on Wed.) topped with a hard-boiled egg, s: canteloupe and 15 almonds (cheesestick was past its date!), l--berry yogurt w/2 tbsp. sliced almonds, no afternoon snack, d: a Greek salad at Saladworks. Substituted egg for the onion. Had balsamic vinaigrette. Also had a wheat whole grain roll, just because I felt like I'd be denying myself too much if I skipped it. Used Promise spread on it, lightly. If I plan on SWorks next Tuesday, I'll skip the whole wheat English muffin for breakfast. Also, next time I'll have the dressing in a container on the side and I'll ask for a take home lid as I check out--I could've easily taken it home for another
meal. Dessert was at 9 p.m.--a skinny cow, as planned 'til they're gone.
:D 3/31
6. Scale--4/31 :D

I'm going to stop at Doreen's journal and then head downstairs to do some housework. After that I've got to pick up the dog's vitamins and visit the new dogsitter who'll be with him this weekend. Add to that thank you note writing, Christmas undecorating, practicing, teaching, and rehearsal tonight, and it sounds like a full, fun day!

Here I go!

Edit: All in all, it was a good day at the beach. As I learn more about the program, I see a few things I need to tweak, but I feel strangely calm about the whole thing. . .like I have a long time to learn it. . .like I may want to stay at the beach for quite awhile. . .

Yummy menu! Don't you just love the beach? If you like Alfredo sauces Lisa gave me a great recipe it is so good I almost cried the first time I had it. :-) I mix it with shrimp and broccoli and it is delish - but you could use it with chicken to - actually I might be doing that pretty soon.

Get up and walk those miles girl!!! Is the scale starting to cooperate yet?

~Amanda

Erin,
You are doing great!! I am so impressed with your miles on the
icon_treadmill.gif
. I avoid that machine when possible. In fact, I would rather be cold and wet and outside, instead of walking on the treadmill, but you are doing great!!!

How's life on the Beach?

Loving' it?

Hey, Amanda, I know you're kind of busy right now, but if you could put it on next week's "to do" list, I'd really appreciate it if you could send me that Alfredo recipe. It sounds like something my family would love.

Terry, your smilies just crack me up! . Thanks for sharing, girlfriend!

I AM loving my first two days on the beach. . .I feel very comfortable here. It's almost weird how different I feel when my cravings are under control. "Peaceful" comes close to describing it. Years ago, when the nutritionist was putting me on a meal plan to treat hypoglycemia, I wish SBeach had been out there. I think this is how I really need to eat. I read an article in Prevention magazine about a woman who was diabetic and finally had her condition under control. She said that now she could have a dessert in the evening and not worry if she was going to binge all the next day. . .I could relate to that! I also thought, "wow! This whole insulin/craving connection is really fragile--more fragile than I thought! I've got to see how this effects me. How do I feel after just a candy bar? Is that why it's so much easier to abstain than try to be moderate?" Lots to think about.

Uh-oh, DD needs to use the computer so I'm going to sign off. 'Night all.

E.

Hi Erin,

i'm glad to hear that the Beach is working out for you. You sound pretty comfortable with it already. It is definatley a learning experience. You will have to experiment and find what works for you, but I think you'll end up happy.

Have a great evening,
Beth

Good morning! :Pinkbounc I'm just in a pink kind of mood today! It's January 5, 2004

I have to be brief--expecting a phone call I don't want to miss. Is it possible for me to be brief? :earboy2: Here's the deal:

1. Devotions: 5/31 :D Phil. 4:13, being joyful and content in all circumstances
2. Vitamins: 5/31 :D
3. Water: 4 tall glasses down
4. Exercise: 5/31 :D
5. Food: b--s.f., nonfat strawberry yogurt w/2 tbsp. sliced almonds. s--a hardboiled egg, l--chicken salad and an apple, s--some kind of nut, veggies, d--tuna w/one slice whole grain bread, dessert--s.f., lowfat choc. pudding :D 4/31
6. Scale: 5/31 :D
Amanda, you asked if I was seeing the scale move. Well, last Fri. (12/31) I weighed in at 175. After indulging on NYE, I was 180 on 1/1. Continued to indulge, was 182 on 1/2. When I woke up Monday I was 180 again. Started SB. Tuesday was 176.5; today 175. Just call me :yo-yo: . I'm happy to have had the whoosh; now I can see where SB is going to take me for my official weigh-in on Friday.

Journals later. . .
Erin

Your scale is certainly reflecting all your hard work! Can you call life at the Beach hard work???? :teeth: Seriously, I know that the scale numbers can be cruel and I'm glad to see them headed in the right direction!

 for your day, dear WISH-sis, and some extra :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: to chase away those grey clouds!

Morning Erin! I will make sure to post the Alfredo recipe tonight. It is super easy but you just have to stir alot and make sure the pan doesn't get to hot or else the bottom will burn and then *blah!*

I am glad you are seeing the scale move! There is nothing like a whoosh - I am hoping to have one soon but I am thinking it will probably be after the marathon that it happens. It is hard to stay OP in Disney when there are lapu lapu's to drink and dole whips to eat!!!

~Amanda

Hi Erin,

It sounds like you are really enjoying the Beach. ::yes:: I hope you find continued success on it.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

I am not sure I will have time for posting later, Erin, so I just wanted to say bye! Have fun on the beach while I am gone!!

Just a quick a.m. post. . .

It's Thursday, January 6, 2005 I am deep in the DZone, just trying to keep on :boat: through.

1. Devotions: 6/31 :D
2. Vitamins: 6/31 :D
3. Water: 6/31 :D
4. Exercise: Time-wise, all I can hope for this morning is a quick mile before work. 6/31 :D
5. Food: B-yogurt w/almonds, S @ 9:15 6 almonds, s @ 11:15 hard-boiled egg), L-Salad Vivaldi con pollo y bello (grilled chicken on a green leafy salad with portobello mushrooms in a balsamic vinaigrette, S-7 almonds, about 7 cherry tomatoes, D-1/2 cup buffalo chicken/cheese salad. Dessert-skinny cow w/1 tbsp. melted peanut butter. S--roasted chickpeas (yeah, you heard me, roasted CHICKPEAS!) 5/31 :D
6. Scale: 6/31 :D

Edit: Yesterday I felt AWFUL--Dzone and all. Today was MUCH better. I can't believe I got on that treadie! :flower: I'm a happy beacher!

:grouphug: to all my WISH friends.
Erin

Take good care of you this weekend, dear WISH-sis! I'll be wearing my princess: hat during the half in honor of you and Beth.

"You are the wind beneath my wings"

Love ya,

Erin I will be thinking about you this weekend! You are going to be strolling along right between Doe and I on race day!

~Amanda

Great plan Erin!

You're 6 for 6 so far-- way to go!!!!!

Sundie

Hi Erin! You are kicking butt so far this year! So many :) in your posts! I love it!

I have to tell you, you know that every time I see Phillipians 4:13 I think of you. So I bought a new calendar the other day. It's The Passion of The Christ themed. It came with some beautiful prints from the movie that you can frame. So I'm looking through them and I come across one that is a scene of Mary and the title is "Strength" and it has Phillipians 4:13 underneath the title. It's a beautiful print, I'm definitely going to frame it and it will always make me think of you!

Have a great day!

Hi Erin,

Great plan for the day. I'm sending :wizard: to help you through the horrible DZONE. You can make it throught this time. You have done it before, and you will do it this thime.

Be good to yourself today,
Beth

Today's January 7, 2005 I'll be back to post more and to visit around, but here's a quick plan for the day.

1. Devotions 7/31 :D
2. Vitamins 7/31 :D
3. Water 7/31 :D
4. Exercise--I'm feeling good; 4 miles on the treadie are planned! :cool1: 7/31 :D
5. Food--b: 1 slice whole wheat bread w/smidge of butter (will get that spray stuff today), 1 hardboiled egg, coffee, s/l: 1/4 cup hummus, 6 small black olives, and 1 red pepper, 15 almonds, s: a cheesestick, apple d: buffalo chicken salad, dessert: skinny cow. DD and DH ordered out and had pizza; that was a bit hard to ignore. I knew I couldn't have it, because I just knew it would start a binge. I just don't want to go there, you know what I mean?
6/31 :D
6. Scale 7/31 :D Holding steady at 175. I was kind of wishing for another pound to be gone, but considering how I ate last weekend and impending TOM, I know I should be grateful that I lost all the holiday poundage and am weighing in the same. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

Thanks, Beth for stopping by and offering me my monthly encouragement through the DZone. I appreciate it. I'm really hoping that sticking to my plan helps make it easier.

Doreen and Amanda, well, what can I say? I'm so proud of you both, and though you're not here to hear it, you know I love you guys and I'm :cheer2: as loudly as I can!

When I had to pull out of the Half Marathon, DH and I planned an overnighter to New York to help take the sting out of a cancelled trip to WDW for DD (and us!). Tomorrow morning we'll leave on the train and spend the day shopping and browsing around. In the evening we'll see "The Lion King" on Broadway (it's still a Disney vacation :earboy2: ), and then Sunday we'll head on home.
I hope to do a lot of walking, but I don't think I'll log a half marathon! Who knows, maybe another year soon. . .

Off to make journal rounds. . .
E.

That scale will start moving in the right direction soon enough! You are doing very well at staying on target! Keep up the good work!

Have a great day!

The Lion King is AMAZING! It came to St. Louis late last year and we spent a fortune on tickets but it was totally worth it. Go and enjoy!
