Lulu201's Back In Action Journal

Man, my day's been sidetracked in a major way. Was in the produce store after church and began to have an "aura." [Does that sound plain bizarre or what????] Sometimes I can have an aura and no migraine, but I went home and took two ibu anyway. Uh, no luck. Another aura, pain in the head. Gotta lay down for awhile. Thank goodness the decoration police are on their way to Doreen's. I had to distract them somehow.

ooooch!

I hope you lose that migraine real fast. I get them, too. Mine are mostly triggered by hormones. I finally got desparate and got a prescription for Zomig about a year ago. What a difference! Migraines used to knock me out for a whole day, now I can beat 'em. Hope you beat yours :wizard:

Garlic Shrimp
Buy peeled, and devined frozen shrimp and defrost so you can pull off their tails.
Spray pan with PAM

Erin, I hope this morning finds you migraine free.

My tree is still up - I'm distracting the decoration police for you! :p

Today is not my kind of day. I'm rushed and not centered at all. Arguing with DD and DH about everything. Supposed to pick up the car out of the shop FINALLY yet don't know what time it'll be done, waiting for the call, can't get to the gym. Don't even know if the dumb car will be ready before I have to go to work. Going to work--ugh, as much as I love it, I have a very bad attitude today. I call it the Blue Meanies. Watch out.

My headache is all gone. The tree and inside decorations are history. I should be feeling relieved, but all I can see are all the other things I'm behind at--haven't washed the dog, laundry still not done, etc., etc. Probably I'm a grouch because I haven't done my devotions. I slept in and my routine is all out of whack. Yep, that's it. If I'd have gotten up at my regular time, I'd have done my devotions, exercised, and felt on top of the day. Hmmm, lesson to self: routine is a good thing. :D

1. Devotions: Not yet, and probably not until later. 14/31 :guilty:
2. Vitamins: 15/31 :D
3. Water: it's noon and I've had 1 glass. 14/31 :D
4. Exercise:11/31 :guilty:
5. Food: kashi and coffee for breakfast, lunch will be a salad, dinner will be yogurt. Snack will be an orange/cheesestick. If that dumb scale doesn't move tomorrow I'm going to kick it. 11/31 :D
6. Scale: holding steady. 17/31 :D

Amanda, the recipes look great. I was going to make something for dinner early and have it tonight when I came home, but won't be able to swing it.

Checked out MeMe's journal and she has a lot of good options for races/walks. I'm going to read more about it tonight and try to formulate some kind of plan. A low cost plan if possible.

I'll be back and hopefully I'll be more like this :flower: .

Praise God that your headache is gone!!!! Migraines are not fun at all! :worried: I have only had a couple of them, but that was a couple too many. ::yes::

I pray that your day starts getting better. I am sending some big     your way today. Be sure and take good care of you, okay?

Glad your headache is gone!! Sorry you aren't having the best day! :grouphug:

Erin, I'm so glad your headache is gone!

Isn't it amazing how something so small like sleeping a little later can just throw your whole day out of whack? I hope tomorrow is much better for you!

I made it through my first day at the BBG, even though you didn't make it today your support and encouragement really helped me get there. Thanks a bunch!

January 18, 2005

It's a brand new morning. . . :cool1:

It's COLD here in SEastern PA, but it's January, so I can't say it's a big surprise or anything. I'm hoping that the sun comes out. I got up at my usual time this a.m. and am much happier than yesterday. :Pinkbounc

1. Devotions: 15/31 :D Can't believe I missed yesterday.
2. Vitamins: 16/31 :D
3. Water: 15/31 :D
4. Exercise: Going to knock out 3 miles on the treadie this morning before going to the BIG BAD GYM! Michelle, you've eased my fears and given me confidence to go today. I have to hop by your journal, though, before I go, and get the real scoop on how things went. Edit: Ended up doing 2 miles when I got home from the gym. Didn't work out there. Only had time for the "spiel." Will go tomorrow and have big plans! :D 12/31
5. Food: No move in the scale, so I'm going to cut WAY back today. Breakfast was 2/3 cup kashi w/1/3 cup lowfat soy milk and 1/3 cup 1% milk.
12/31 :D
6. Scale: 17/31 :D Didn't kick it, but I was close!

Plan for today: take DD to school, exercise, wash dog, work on laundry, morning housecleaning, go to gym, cut up some veggies, work on "parent project" for school, write some more thank yous for teacher gifts (yes, I'm STILL doing them), go to work, head out to choir practice. Busy day, but fun day. I hope to get back to journals here and there throughout the day.

:grouphug: to all of you!
Erin

I'm praying that the Blue Meanies are gone today. I've had those kind of days and they are no fun! I do hope everything got worked out yesterday and that you got the car back.

:flower1: Today is a new day, princess: Erin, and I have a feeling it will be a good one! :flower1:

I'm still working on the last PM you sent and will reply within the next day or two. :p Count me in! We'll work out the logistics. ::yes::

May you feel God's peace flowing through you today. :sunny:

Hi Erin,

I'm just popping in to see how you are doing. I'm glad that headache cleared out. You are definately busy today. I am really proud of you for heading to the gym. I know that you were nervous about it.

Keep up the great work. get some rest tonight.
Beth

Erin - I hope you had a good day today! I'm sorry I didn't make it to your journal earlier but I was being watched like a hawk at work. My manager was in a mood. Anyway - how was the gym? Did you like it? I know it is nerve racking to put yourself out there but remember you are a Super Jock Athlete princess: and you can accomplish your goals!

Not to nit pick you but I notice the scale hasn't moved - first off kick the scale :badpc: now - are you keeping a real journal? Somewhere where you can write down everything you are eating. Maybe doing that for one week will reveal what you need to change and what you need to remain the same. Also don't forget to go to Lisa (zeraspride) for advice she is a SB expert! :)

January 19, 2005

Here's the plan for the day:

1. Devotions: 16/31 :D
2. Vitamins: 17/31 :D
3. Water: one glass done. Going to take a water bottle to the gym.
4. Exercise: walked 3 miles, about 50 minutes. :D 13/31 :D
5. Food: OK, princess: Amanda, I'll get brutally honest with myself here. I'll write down EVERYTHING for today. b--1 container nonfat, s.f. strawberry yogurt w/2Tbsp. sliced almonds, coffee w/sf hazelnut syrup and 2 tbsp. half and half (I know, not SB, but it's my coffee we're talking about here. I can't mess with it), and 1/6 of a banana (just the teeny tiny little end). 9:30 a.m. small DDonut coffee w/cream (courtesy of the nice people there). Lunch was a peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread. Snacks throughout the day were an apple, a cheesestick, and an orange. Dinner at 8:45 p.m. was a scrambled egg on an oat bran eng. muffin w/i can't believe it's not butter spray and s.f. choc. pudding w/ tsp. almonds. Approx. 25 points 13/31 :D
6. Scale: steady 18/31 :D

I'm walking in the Ocean City Half Marathon on April 16. I'm registered. I'm doing it. Let the training begin.

Still haven't washed my little dog. Today I'm shooting for it before work. First, though, I have to go to Bally's. I have to be totally honest. . .it really isn't my kind of place. Don't get me wrong--the people were nice and it was not an elitist athlete kind of place in the LEAST, but it was well, just kind of dingy. It's an old Bally's. . .all grey, red, and black, and not cheerful and bright like I'd like. It's going to be like working out in a factory, but for the next 8 weeks it's MY factory and I'm going to go there at least 2x a week. Today I'm going to walk the treadie, run around the track, and do some strength training for my upper body. That's the plan.

Going to center myself this morning with another round of devotions. . .I'll stop back in later.

Erin

Edit: Hee, hee. What's a plan??? DH and I were on our way to Bally's when the car broke down. I'm wearing gym pants, a sleeveless T, and a lightweight jacket. It's 7 degrees outside. We're traveling "light" because we don't want to put valuables in a locker there. . .we have a credit card and our keys. No cash, no phone. We end up walking 3 miles home with a stop at Dunkin Donuts where the people there pity us so much they give us free coffee and hot chocolate (DH). It's COOOLLLLLDDDDD as we walk, but we laugh a lot and get our workout in spite of it all. I'm wrapped in a sheet that I keep in the trunk in case of an emergency (?). So, Bally's isn't my factory yet  , maybe on Friday? Have to go get the car towed. . . did I mention that we just got DH's car back YESTERDAY? Life is crazy, isn't it?

Hi Erin,

The Half on April 16 is a wonderful goal. You go girl :cheer2:

I'm sorry to hear the Bally's is old and dingy, but like you said "its YOUR Ballys for the next 8 weeks" get the most you can out of it!

Keep up the great work!

Sundie

I'm so glad you are not mad at me! I was a little worried about what I said but then I thought, "I would want her to be honest with me." Your plan looks good today. As far as Ballys go - well you only have to go for 8 weeks, and who knows you may come to like it more as time goes on. If you decide you want to continue with going to the gym after the 8 weeks is up you can always choose another one in your area.

Have a great day and enjoy the gym!

~Amanda

Oh Erin!

I am so sorry to hear that your car broke down on the way to Ballys! You must have been freezing! I hope that you and DH are warmed up and cozy now!

Kudos to you and your DH for making lemonade out of lemons!!! I just read a devotional yesterday about keeping our joy in difficult circumstances and you and your husband set a wonderful example for me today!

I hope that your car gets fixed soon! Take good care of you today and stay warm! :sunny:

Oh My Gosh!!! Erin, I'm so sorry to hear about your car's breakdown! It sounds like you and DH made the most of a tough situation though. :p I know you like Dunkin' Donuts coffee but I think you're going to extremes to find an excuse to get there! :teeth:

Hopefully you'll get back to Bally's soon!

 for a tough start to the day.

Hey Erin,

Until yesterday when Doreen PM'd me about walking I forgot that there was a journal board. When I first joined WISH I used it but then got to busy to post there. After reading a few journals I've realized I've missed out on a gold mine of good information and something that probably will help me stay on the OP track.

Sorry to hear your car broke down. It sounds like something that would happen on TV!! And I know how cold it's been here the last few days. I hate being in the car with the heater on HIGH let alone outside walking. It took my fingers and toes over 20 minutes today just to warm up in the car.
At least you tried to get to Bally's!
