I am looking to buy some cases on wheels as we haven't got any proper luggage cos the further the kids have been is Cornwall!!!

Can anyone recommend any? Any offers/sales or any recommended brands? Also what size case would you recommend?

Also, we are flying Air France and I am a bit confused with the luggage allowances and size's of cases allowed. Do children get the same lugage allowance?

There will be 4 of us (2 adults, 2 children) so I thought it would probably be easier if we had 2 big cases rather than 1 each. Will this cause problems checking in? Can you tell the check-in desk that 1 case is 2 people's baggage allowance??

Sorry for waffling but I haven't flown with the kids before and have no idea about these things.

Any advice would be great.

i think most airlines now have gone over to each individual case being within the personal baggage allowance, so you cant total up the allowance for your whole party and split it over fewer cases

ive always found 2 medium wheeled cases enough anyway for a family of 4, just mix all your clothes between the two though, so if one bag does go missing, all of you at least have some clothes to wear

dont know about any particular bargains in the shops at the mo, but places like Matalan and QD have reasonably priced, good quality cases. or if you want to stick to the brand names like samsonite, then debenhams have a good range.

i also tend to buy the expandable cases, as that way i can make them bigger on the way home, to fit all my purchases in

Hiya loobymiss!

I've had some great luggage from Matalan from years, not sure if they will have much at this time of year, but they have lots in the run up to summer.

I'd also check argos online, as they might have some Jan sales stuff on :)

I was in Matalan the other day and they had cases on wheels for half price (down to £13)! They weren't huge, but they looked quite roomy to me, I was very tempted but decided I really didn't need yet another case :rotfl:

Brilliant, thanks for the advice.

Do you know if I need to buy the hard shell cases or whether the material lighter one's will do?

I had a quick look at Debenhams, Argos and Matalan. The cases seem to come in small, medium, large. Do you think 2 medium will do for a family of 4 or will I need the large ones?

depends how long you are going for, and actually how young your kids are? I'd say if you're going for 5 days and your kids are 11 or under, 2 medium cases should do it.

Yeah I'd reckon the 2 medium cases would do it then. In terms of material or hard shell - go for what is lightest I'd say!

There are only 2 of us me and a 5 year old and we still need a medium and a large suitcase! I could use another one too but there would be noone to tug that one along!

:scared: Im only taking 1 large suitcase for me and my 2yr old...i hope that will be enough, im going for 5 days.

Crikey I don't know what to take now.

Are the large trolley cases within the dimensions/measurements that you are allowed to take on the plane? If so, I might take 2 large one's instead!

I believe they are more concerned about weight than size for hold baggage. Here's the baggage page at Air France. If you've gone for the cheapest flights then your allowance will probably be one case each at 20kg.

We take large cases when we go to WDW but medium sized ones to DLRP. If you're buying new cases I'd go for the lightest ones that seem sturdy, if you know what I mean. :goodvibes
