We will arrive in Florida two days before our cruise, we will rent a car, etc. On Saturday morning we will return to the airport, return the car, wait for Disney transportation to the ship. Our question is....what happens with our luggage? Does it go on the bus (underneath in the storage) or will they take it from us at the airport and deliver it to the ship? On our four previous cruises we arrived on cruise day or the night before and stayed at the airport Hyatt.

PlutoJudy - your going again??!!!!???

We just booked another cruise too - but not until April 2005. Just couldn't bring myself to try a different cruise line. My whole family is definately hooked! I just wish we could go sooner!:wave2:

Plutojudy - we are returning the car to Cocoa Beach - check out Dave's site - www.dcltribute.com - he has a list of rental agencies with shuttle transportation to the port. You just do a "one way" rental. We plan on DH dropping us at the port with the luggage, then he will return the car and shuttle back. All of the posts I have read on this said it was no trouble at all.

Have fun!

Hi BriarfoxinWA, yes we are going again (#5). Love DCL, I think we are spoiled and don't want to try another cruise line. Since we didn't get to Grand Cayman with you, we are trying again. After that we want to do the Eastern again. I like the days at sea. Guess we won't see you running up and down the steps this cruise. When are you cruising in 2005? Are your boys anxious to cruise again? Take care and maybe we will cruise together again.

We'll be going on 4/2/05. It's spring break for our boys and my older DS will be in high school then. So we have to try not to take him out of too much school. We messed up this spring and their quarter ended during the time we were on vacation - so even though he kept up with his work it effected his grade since the work was turned in after we came back.

Both the boys are excited to go again but it's such a LONG time to wait!

Have a great time on your cruise - hope you have fun in Grand Cayman!

Bumping this up to see if anyone knows the answer to my question.

plutojudy, if this is your 5th, how did you get it there B4? Serious question here. I'm guessing you dropped it off yourself or maybe parked at the port?
Since our 1st won't be until next year, I'm guessing a little here, but from the CCL cruises we've done, when you purchase transfers the CL meets you at the airport, shows you where the bus is parked and the bus-guy THROWS your luggage in the bus storage and takes you and it to the port.

On our first three cruises, we flew in the morning of......didn't see our luggage until it was in our stateroom. Our fourth cruise we flew in the night before and stayed at the airport Hyatt. The Hyatt had us put our luggage out in the hallway early in the morning and it was picked up and transported to the ship.

Wow, now that sounds like Disney service!
There has to be some way the DCL will pick-up/meet-you-to-get your luggage at the airport. Seems like a lot of people come in early and spend a few days before hand, so there must be some procedure they follow.
I'm sure you'll find out here, DIS knows all. -Mike

I will try to answer your question....since you are arriving early, your luggage will obviously not be on the luggage carousel where DCL folks take the DCL marked bags. My GUESS would be that when you find your DCL rep at the airport that they will just put your bags directly on the bus in the underneath storage compartment.....AGAIN, THIS IS JUST AN ASSUMPTION. I hope someone can give you a definite answer...or call DCL and ask them what happens in your case.

One question though....since you are already renting a car, why don't you just drop it off at one of cocoa beach rental returns....or did you rent from a company that does not have a return location in cocoa beach? Just wondering.

We saved so much money by renting a car and returning to the port area as opposed to taking DCL bus transfers....saved about $200 for our party of 5.

Good luck.

Last year we spent 3 days at WDW and then took a taxi back to the airport to catch the DCL bus to the port. You bring your luggage with you to the DCL bus stop area outside on the ground floor , make sure it is tagged with your DCL room tags and then it is put on a bus going to the port. The next time you see your luggage it is in your stateroom. We were kind of nervous since our luggage went on a different bus then us but no problems.

Easy as that...

I'm in a similar situation but without the car. I'll be spending a week at an off-site condo near WDW before the 12/04 10-day cruise. I signed up for the transport package for the cruise but, after that condo week, have to get myself back to airport from the non-Disney condo, to meet a DCL rep (at their booth) who will stash my luggage on the DCL bus for the trip to meet the ship. My TA contacted the transport reps and they said to contact them again, closer to the sailing date, with a time I'd like to catch the bus at the airport and to reserve a bus with a lift (for my electric scooter). If they know you're not coming in on a flight they'll tell you where to meet them and they'll take care of the luggage (and you) then.

Since you are comming down to Orlando a few days early...

DO NOT have the DCL luggage tags on your bags or you MIGHT NOT See them until you cruise a couple of days later.

Before you leave for the airport on the morning of your departure, put your DCL tags on your bags and go to the airport and drop the car off and go to where the DCL busses are. The CM's there will verify that you are on DCL and they will take your bags and put them on the bus. You need to keep your carryon luggage with you because you will not see your checked baggage until it arrives in your stateroom later that day.
