now that they have been out a while, has anyone had a problem with the luggage locks that have TSA logo? the new ones have green and red indicators if they have been opened. i want security but not at the expense of a broken lock. thanks

I've heard that there's no point in locking your luggage because the locks WILL be broken. That could be wrong info though, so somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

I had the TSA locks on my luggage in August. They did open one of them and it was not broken. They locked it back up. I had no problem at all. To me they were worth the money.

The TSA locks work and will not be cut off if they are operational. We've had a couple problems with TSA and sticky locks.

Unfortunately, because locks are hard to cut through, TSA tends to cut the zipper loop on the bag if they can't access the lock. Which leaves you with a damaged bag. For this reason, we only lock bags that have Scuba or other equipment and then we inventory the bags at the airport if the red dot on the lock tells us the bag was opened.

I had the green luggage locks on my suitcases for 4 plane trips and one cruise and they have not been broken open to look into my bags once. I thought for sure they would at least check them once but NEVER have they looked in any of my bags nor the bags of anyone I have traveled with!

We used the plastic ties that have to be cut off once they are on. I took a finger nail clipper to cut them off once we got there and took extras to lock the luggage back up for the return trip.
I think they are in the hardware section for a couple of dollars for about 20 of them. They are used for tieing up wiring. worked great and if they need to get in your bags they can cut them off without damaging your bags.

That is were I got my locks to.

We plan to use the plastic zip ties also. Heard it was the best way to lock them.

We used the plastic zip ties... worked wonderfully. Left the clippers in the outside zipper - no problems at all!

Has anyone who used the TSA locks been on an international flight? I am going to India and I would prefer to lock my bags.

Any thoughts?

I used he padlocks. I know they have the keys to open them.
