For my next trip we're going with 2 bedroom Island Garden View. Debating between requesting a low floor on the Hālāwai Lawn versus a high floor facing back onto the island. Has anyone with a room with a view of the luau stage watched the full show from there? Is the audio and angle decent? I've seen the luau twice and we're probably going to do one off campus this trip, but if we can grab a "free" view of Ka Wa'a, that's just a bonus.

I did last year from 1277. I requested the same room this year it was perfect. Pictures in the live trip report from then or I can grab you a shot if we get the room again.

Ooh. Sorry to hijack but is there a recommendation for a room for an island gardens view studio to see part of the luau?

We had a 2 bedroom suite on the ground floor (sorry can’t remember the room number) and could see and hear the show clearly from the lanai. It was a perfect view. There was a footpath from the lanai to the main walkway, and some of our kids were sitting on the footpath. The group patrolling the walkway said they had to go back onto the lanai or they would call hotel security, but we saw several people doing the same thing.

We had room #1679 in November and could hear just fine...both music and speaking. As we had paid for the show on our previous trips, this was a nice alternative as we didn't really want to pay again ( and was sold out anyways).

Completely agree I’d definitely try for this option next time as having it from your room seems like a nice option.

After having a room in that location I would never pay the sky high prices for the luau.

I would think a room ending 73, 75, 77, or 79 in the Ewa tower will give the best head on view. As you can see from the picture above from the 12th floor (#1277) it's high enough to see everything buy not too high. We were on the top floor and was still a good view. I would guess maybe the 8-10th floors are probably the "best". But for the "cost" of watching it on your balcony anything in that range is a good seat.

I made my request thru DVC chat on the website. I asked for an odd number room 10th floor or higher ending in 71 to 81. Ended up in 1679 and was very happy.

What was your view beyond the lawn? I was thinking I might not want to be too high facing that direction because of the empty lot where the Atlantis was (is?) supposed to go.

That is such a joke…of course they would call security because nothing is ever to be enjoyed free by Disney.

Yes, it was definitely a bummer because our kids were enjoying themselves and sitting nicely to watch the show. There were a lot of people watching from their balcony’s on different floors, but I guess they couldn’t threaten everyone with security.
