lowest airfare LAX-MCO

can someone tell me what the lowest airfare they were able to get on a non-stop flight LAX-MCO? We are travelling with kids and don't want to hassle with a layover! The cheapest I have seen so far is $1,200 for 4! That still seems pretty high to me!

We are not flying until April 2008, however, I have been watching airfare for this April for the past 6 months or so! I just want to get a general feeling of what prices are like, so if I see something I like later this year, I can go for it!

Are your dates flexible? I found an airfare from LAX to MCO for $222 going from a Tues-Tues. That seems to be the way to save money. The other dates were more around $300 that you saw. If it's possible I would try changing dates as Tues usually has cheaper airfare.

Sounds about right to me. I would take it. We paid just under $1200 for 3 of us! We wanted non-stop, so we paid it.

The lowest fare we ever booked was $117! We booked in August for an Oct trip. We actually had to pay a change fee of $25 because we had already booked a $199 fare for that trip.

We are paying about $250 for a 1 stop for our April - May '07 trip, but when we booked in Dec. the nonstop was over $400! That price has since come down to about what we paid. I saw some good rates (about $220) in late Nov, early Dec on Delta NS for LAX-MCO.

Also check out farecompare.com. Lots of info on historical prices. But make sure you are comparing apples and apples: if you are going over Easter break, make sure to compare it with travelling at Easter this year, even if the dates are different.

our dates are not real flexible, as we are going on a Disney cruise from Sat. to Sat. Right now, our plans are to fly out on a redeye Thursday night and flying back the day our cruise ends, the following Saturday!

Obviously the rates for most of the airlines won't open until June for our return flight, but if I see anything for around $300/pp, I'll go ahead and book it! We haven't flown into Orlando for quite a few years and I don't even remember what we paid back then, so I had no idea what a good price is! I don't mind paying a bit extra for non-stop, I like having the convenience, esp. with the kids!

When I originally booked 1 ticket non stop on United for April, 2007, I paid over $500!

The rates came down and I paid the exchange fee to get my flight rebooked at the new rate that was about $320.

If you are on a GOOD airline and going non-stop, then it's worth the price. I believe there are only 3 airlines flying LAX to MCO nonstop.

yep, and there are only 2 that have redeye flights, so that narrows it down even more!

JetBlue tried a BUR-MCO route that ended last Fall due to low demand. I never had a chance to try it, but it would have been a good option. They kept their fares in the $200s everytime I checked, but United and Delta were competitive during our travel dates and we opted to fly them due to their FF programs.

Good luck booking your flights! You should find good fares if you check regularly.

Most of these were non-stops but one or two had stops. And these were all flights within the past 6 years.

Our last flight was actually an award ticket on Delta earlier this year, so the "fare" was just the Sept. 11 security fee of $10.

Our next flight is coming up in March and the airfare is $216. It involves 1-stop, on purpose, due to arrival timing (meeting other family members coming from other airports) and with an eye to accumulating more FF miles. It's probably not practical if you have kids. We could have gotten the same fare non-stop, but we're under the spell of FlyerTalk. LOL! The outbound is LAX-ORD-MCO, with the return going MCO-IAD-LAX. The IAD-LAX leg is an intl. 3-class 777 and we upgraded to business class.

Note: the earliest we've booked a flight is 4 months in advance, and sometimes with as little as 6 weeks notice. There's usually no need to book at the 9-month window unless you're traveling during a busy holiday period, e.g. Thanksgiving weekend. Or if you find a good fare right away.

FYI, if you end up booking on United and the fare drops for the same flight after you paid for your ticket, you can request a travel voucher for the difference. You just have to remember to use the voucher within 1 year. Delta will also credit you a voucher, but they also apply a change fee, which usually nullifies most of the difference in fare.
