Lovely Lily of the Valley

I just took a peek and the first lilies of the valley are starting to daintily bloom! So beautiful! My garden bud, Snowwark, sent me a lily of the valley vase....a tiny, equally dainty glass vase that I can put those beauties in and sniff all day long!

I never thought I'd like LOTV! They are foliage....foliage.....foliage.....for 9/10s of the year. But, oh, the two weeks they bloom....the scent follows me throughout the yard!

Do you have lily of the valley? Do you like it???

I LOVE Lily of the Valley but I don't have any. I started thinking about getting some last year and am thinking about it again this year. *SIGH* Maybe next year I'll get around to it...

I wish I could see and smell them. I planted some and they're not doing well.

One of my favorite smelling flowers. We picked some yesterday and the kitchen smells heavenly.

I think these were one of the first plants I planted. Memories from childhood days. I remember in the spring area's that seemed to go on for miles. As I drive by the old homestead I realize the area was not all that large.

Mine aren't quite ready yet, maybe they'll be open by early next week.

We planted more of them last year, so I'm going to have to wait a while before I have a nice size bed of them.

They do smell gorgeous!!

I also love LOTV and I too think it's from wonderful childhood memories of the first house we lived in. We had TONS of them. I have tried planting them and they just haven't come up. I also saw a ton of them at my mom's house when we were going over the house after she died and frankly, I think they also remind me of her - just the scent is very dainty and petite - Just like my mom was.
