LOVE SSR, will I like the others?

I love SSR. I love how quiet and far away from things it is, I like that DTD is right there. It just seems more romantic than the others. That being said, DH and I are going for a little trip alone and we want to stay somewhere else. We have stayed at SSR several times now and just want something different. I tried for concierge AKV but it was all booked, so I waitlisted. I ended up booking a studio at WL but DH thinks the themeing is to close to home (we are from MN). They did have a 1BR open at Boardwalk at that same time as well. So tell me what you think. Will I like the others? Which one would you choose for romance?

I think that city lights twinkling in the distance, in the dark are romantic. A one bedroom is definitely more romantic than a studio...so go with BWV if you can. Waitlist for BW view, it's the same number of points as preferred, and maybe you'll get lucky!

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. For me the VWL is the most romantic, but if it's just "normal" for you, then go with something more to your liking!

If you love SSR for the quietness, being removed from the parks and Downtown Disney, then OKW will fit best what you love.

That said, I am sure you will like the other DVC resorts, but they will not be as quiet and peaceful as SSR.

Give them a try though and if you can always go back to what you love.

Boardwalk - light, beautiful and lovely to walk around and if you want quiet, just close your balcony door.
I know what you mean about the woodsy decor of WL - I love the lobby but we are from the northeast and rustic theme in the rooms does not do that much for me.

We also love our home resort of SSR. But we stayed at the Boardwalk in a preferred view last August and loved that too.

I ended up cancelling the WL studio and booked a preferred view 1 BR at BWV. When I looked though on the member site, it listed a pool/garden view. Do I need to request a boardwalk view?

We absolutely love our Boardwalk home.
DH and I bought here partly because of the romantic atmosphere.
We think you will love it!

However, on our trip in April with extended family...we had planned for everyone to stay at POP on our 1st night before moving to BWV. One of my DSIS got upgraded from POP to SSR. In my efforts to upgrade everybody to SSR, I got her upgraded to a 1 BDRM for that 1 night. (I thought very seriously about keeping the points, and booking her at SSR for the whole week on cash.)

Anyway, when she got her boardwalk studio the next day, she was furious, and DEMANDED that we get her back to SSR, and she had a pretty primo Boardwalk Studio. (Dedicated, w/daybed, at corner of village green & boardwalk, with a HUGE balcony)

We had reserved a 2 bdrm non-smoking for me, DH, and my other sister's family, with a smoking studio for her. She also asked that DH and I switch with her so that she could have the 1 bedroom as the studio made her claustrophobic. DH had fantasized about his 1st 1bdrm for months and would not give in to this nonsense. Result, I kept my husband while DSIS stayed mad at me for the whole week, and left a day early. (You know I would have given in if she had been paying.)

SSR had been getting a lot of flack on the DIS at the time, and I really got a good private chuckle at DSIS expense.

Overall, to compare the 2, the rooms are the same size (if you get the same type), but SSR is much newer and shinier. You can't discount that.

The guaranteed Boardwalk view is a separate booking category. Chances are there are none available but as Bobbi said, you could go on the waitlist for it. It's the same number of points as the Pool/Garden view.

If you like being away from the action and relaxing, I LOVE OKW. The views are absolutely beautiful, the balconies are HUGE compared to the other resorts and to me, it has a "cottage" feel. While I share your enthusiam for our home resort, our second choice is OKW. :cloud9:

I was told by DVC CRO that you can't request a view or category at the Boardwalk when waitlisting:sad2:

I have an actual reservation there so I was able to request a boarkwalk view. But she did tell me I had a preferred view reservation and that is always the pool or courtyard. That a boardwalk view is a different booking all together, but I was not offered that view when I booked the room:confused3 . Should I waitlist for a 1 BR boadwalk view or just leave my boardwalk view request stand?
