LOVE or HATE FP+ Anyone's mind been changed ??

Reducing this to "people don't like change" is a ridiculous over simplification designed to insult people into staying quiet.

I pretty much know what I intend to do when I say what I say and no, that's not my design at all. In fact, I didn't like the change at all when it went to FP+. I griped about it continually, until I actually tried it. Then I changed my mind. I'm as guilty as anyone of not liking change- it's a common human failing.

Not necessarily. I am excited when I hear good change is coming. But not all change is good merely because it's change.

I loved Carsland and the whole reworking of DCA. That was a pretty big change and I loved it.

From what I have seen of the Festival of Fantasy parade, I think I'll love it. That was a change.

I'm one of the few actually happy they are changing Maelstrom into a Frozen ride. That's a change.

Just because I'm not a fan of FP+ does not mean I don't like change.

I absolutely agree it is not about not liking change in general. Like you we love Carsland and the whole reworking of DCA. We love the Festival of Fantasy parade, especially that incredible dragon. We were at WDW for Malestrom's last weekend of operation and had a FP+ for our last ride (which I actually did like as the lines were 2 to 3 hours long or more since it was closing). I pretty much had to clap a hand over DD's mouth because she wanted to broadcast to the world--- in front of all the devastated Malestrom die hard fans who were waiting for one last ride, taking a thousand pictures, and occasionally crying- how excited she was that boring old Malestrom was getting shut down and Frozen was coming.;) We actually like the magicbands themselves too.

2 FP+ trips- for the most part we despise FP+. We hate the 60 day in advance ride and attraction planning. We hate the guessing game of not only where we will be at any given time in 2 months, but also what the lines will actually be like at that time of day. I much preferred the day of FP- where you could get FP if and when you needed them, and skip FP if you did not need it. I hate being locked in now. We hate the tiers. Not being able to FP+ both TSM and RNRC causes a great deal of stress-- RNRC is one of my favorite rides and I did not get to ride it at all last trip because we FP+ TSM for DD and even the single rider line for RNRC was too long to justify DH and I taking turns (DD won't ride). Not being able to FP+ both Test Track and Soarin at EPCOT is also a source of stress. The fact that Nemo, Figment, Small World, and POTC which we usually walk on had 30 minute lines due to FP+ was not good. We did not like that we felt like FP+ took away our freedom. We did not like that there were FP+ we booked that we did not need as the wait time for that ride was low at our FP+ time and that we had no real ability to switch it to something we did need at that point. Plus, rides we typically historically did not need FP+ for or that did not even have FP, now we had longer waits for and wouldn't have minded a FP. We do like having the one FP+ to the ride that we usually did the morning FP run to, particularly Soarin and TSM. It was nice not having to run the race to get a FP for those, but that was about it.

Oh and I should add, that I particularly hated FP+ when I tried to move a time earlier on the app to get to my 4th faster, and the app showed me it was giving me an earlier available time, and when I hit confirm it assigned me a FP+ 6 hours after my original FP+ instead of the time it showed me (which was supposed to be only 30 minutes away). I also hated it when it would not change back to my original time or any other earlier time on the app. I continued to hate it when the kiosk CM told me it was a glitch or the time pulled up for more than one person and someone hit confirm before I did, but that there was nothing they could do to fix it.

Bingo.
I can read about what change is coming and evaluate that change.

I didn't say all change was good- but when people complain ( as those LT posted did ) without even knowing for sure what's coming and without giving it any chance at all, then you have to wonder if it's just they like the way it is and don't want to see a change of any kind, whether it's good or bad.

We were open to it last November. If you hit your ideal vacation with perfect weather and everyone is healthy then I can see it being an ok system. Unfortunately life doesn't work that way. Last November for our 10 day trip, I was sick everyday, the weather was awful [40s for highs all week and 3days of cold rain] and half of our family was 70+. Fast Pass+ was horrible. Gotta a fast pass for splash mountain and its cold and rainy? Tough luck because at that point it's to late to change to anything else because the availability is gone. Its not a realistic system at all.

Several of those complaints left me with the impression that they know exactly what's coming and have experienced it for themselves.

I was shocked to see that "Haters" have also permeated their way beyond the DIS boards and infiltrated the general public. They are walking among us.........breeding......multiplying.....colonizing.......

Scary thought.

Is there a reason you insist on labeling people with insulting names? It really diminishes anything you have to say in your post.

That moniker (FP+ Hater) has been used freely on these boards for years now when referring to those who do not "love" FP+.
Even the title of this thread is do you "Love or Hate..."

Per Oxford English Dictionary:

Definition of hater in English:
NOUN
dislikes a specified person or thing

But back to the point - several of those complaints left me with the impression that they know exactly what's coming and have experienced it for themselves. Is there a reason you insist on labeling them as being afraid of change?

We love it since we don't have to backtrack and head towards an attraction twice. We got a whole lot more done last year than we did the year before with legacy fastpass. I may be in the minority, but once we figured out MDE, we could plan our day better.

From the comments on that article it sounds like folks are besides themselves with excited anticipation!

Christine W.
I live in celebration Florida, 5 miles from the magic, and go to the parks 3-5 times per week. Magic your way has been a nightmare! Disneyland was still pure and charming and was working just fine! If it ain't broke don't fix it folks! The $$ involved with this will show. Say goodbye to refurbs & new attractions. Say hello to more dance parties. Heck, here at WDW we got flippin lumberjacks!! Good luck with all that. I guess misery loves company.

Oh, and:

Is it going to be like Florida now where you have to reserve your meals and experiences something like 6 months in advance? Living in so cal, always had DL in the backyard so to speak and didn't feel I needed to plan out every aspect of my day at the park. The one or two times I went to DW I found that process the most frustrating. I would hate for it to be like that here.

Hmmmmmmm...... something sounds oddly familiar.........

.
I will agree that Christine and Deidra have experienced the wonders of FP+ at WDW and neither one sounds particularly enthusiastic about it traveling to DLR. I can especially like the statement about more dance parties, but she didn't mention the special occasion cupcakes! If FP+ was such a resounding success, why are most articles about FP+ followed by a bunch of posts talking about how lousy FP+ is? It seems that articles on FP+ on mainstream media sites have a lot of negative comments about FP+. I realize there are people that love it. But if FP+ were such a resounding success, why are there so many posts on mainstream media sites that itemize the failures of FP+?

Because people who are unhappy are much more likely to take some kind of action than people who are satisfied.

"A dissatisfied customer will tell between 9-15 people about their experience. Around 13% of dissatisfied customers tell more than 20 people.

Happy customers who get their issue resolved tell about 4-6 people about their experience. – White House Office of Consumer Affair."

It's just the way it is.

But the point of me posting that was someone mentioned they thought they had read a timeline. I had as well so I found the article. My point wasn't whether or not everyone would like it, it was if there was any indication of if and when it would be implemented.

Let me put it this way, if I had a new product that was generating as many negative reviews as FP+ is, I would be pooping bricks! Most companies are concerned when their approval ratings drop below 80%.

The only thing I wasnt a fan of was some of the tiers they limit you with. In epcot alot of the rides in the 2nd tier you choose 2 from do not even need fast passes

I don't think you are in the minority. I think a lot of people who are capable of making the technology work for them are enjoying the same success.

Paper fast passes were on their way out, FP+ or not. It was just a matter of what system would replace it. Digital everything is the future. Either people adapt or they get left behind. Some people have a hard time giving up things that are comfortable for them. Technology isn't comfortable for everyone.

The DIS is a very small subset of a small subset of Disney visitors and according to polls put forth by the leadership of this site, a majority of people do not hate FP+. I think the higher revenues have helped Disney pass those bricks pretty easily.

Complete comfort with technology here. The tech of MM+/FP+ has nothing to do with our household's view on it. We actually loved MBs themselves. No glitches, no issues, very convenient! Plus we had fun getting the myfantasyband vinyl decals for them - Dr. Who for DH and Faith/Trust/Pixie Dust for me. We got tons of compliments on them :) We didn't have any issues with MDE either, happily.

I'm sure discomfort with tech is why some people dislike MM+/FP+, but I don't know that it's the main reason.

I'm referring to reviews I've read on non fan sites. I am also able to make the technology of FP plus work, but that doesn't make me like it!

The argument that "The Dis is a small sliver of all guests" cuts both ways. It is frequently stated that the number of complainers is disproportionately represented here. The same can be said of the praisers. From my own observation of visitors who have returned from their trips and who are not Dis Nuts, the level of dissatisfaction with FP+ is rather high. Not necessarily because they liked the old system better. But because they felt left out due to the fact that "Disney experts" were better at using the system and getting "the best stuff". The percentage of people who know to get on line at midnight to get A&E is disproportionately represented here. The average guest does not do that. And gets shut out. And is left with a negative impression. That same person may not have made RD under the old system and may not have gotten a FP for TSMM. But that is beside the point. They aren't in love with the new system and that is all that matters now.
