Lotso? What are they thinking?

Lotso is a politician. Think about it, and you'll see why people still want to have their pictures taken with him.

Lotso for President in 2012!!! ;)

And no, I'm not comparing him to any currently serving elected official.

I LOVED TS3, but I also would love to hear the logic of making Lotso the new meet-and-greet. I have to give them credit for the best fakeout ever, though - I knew going into the movie that he was the "bad guy"/adversary, but I really believed he'd be nice and lovable by the end, because why else would he be the only new TS3 meet-and-greet and get the plum featured spot?

Ken and Barbie would be cool and groovy, but they would have to be face characters, there might be issues with Mattel, and we might end up in that "boys won't go into a room with Barbie" conversation.

I would love to see "Bonnie's Room," with Mr Pricklepants, Buttercup and Dolly (with Trixie included in the background, maybe, since I'm not sure you could do a M&G of her), but I guess they didn't get enough screen time.

I thought the same thing!! I tried to rationalize it by thinking about all of the other villains that are available for meet and greets, and I do love meeting some of those villains! However, I just want to trip that bear! I think it has to do with that highly emotional scene at the end of the movie - the other villains are mean too, but I don't think there is another Disney movie that can top the emotions of that dump scene and what the villain did. I don't think I can forgive Lotso for that! (Also, I saw Toy Story 3 in a 21+ movie theater and I have never heard so many grown men shout NOO!! at an animated film.)

Meh. I didn't think he was that bad. Yeah, he was a dastardly character, but he had reason to be. He genuinely believed that he had been abandoned and that he was unloved becuase Daisy replaced him, but not the others-- like she would wait for them to come home, but not him. He's like the scorned best friend, or even significant other, when you think about how much some young kids love certain toys (won't leave the house without them, cry if they can't find them, etc). He loved Daisy with all his heart and then she just left him.

So I don't think he's evil, I pity him. And all I want to do is give him a hug.

They could have Ken in his hippie garb at the meet and greet. Or his sparkly leisure suit. Or his karate outfit. Or he could have his wardrobe in the greet area.....lol!!!!

Okay, I almost fell out of my chair, Ken was hyesterical in the movie :rotfl2:

We met Lotso after seeing the movie. He was a Huggable bear that did smell like something sweet. He is HUGE! The queue is very cool too...the Sunnyside Daycare.

We got our picture taken the other day before we saw the movie. I was abit surprised that they chose him after we saw the movie though.

I didn't notice a strawberry scent when we were there.

Just to clarify cause I think one or two folks got my point confused. I think Lotso is a GREAT villain in the movie. They really managed to make him unique and interesting, and in the context of the film, I think he's great. I just can't, for the life of me, figure out how they would think ANY kids would want to hug him after he left the others for dead. It's the deviousness of him, the betrayal aspect, the duplicitous nature of him, that I just don't see for a meet and greet to promote the new movie. Now, if we were talking about him in addition to others, I could see it. But could you imagine having Jafar with no Aladdin or Jasmine? I don't know, it just seems to me like he is a very different character than they have had in that spot before.

the strawberry scent in the queue (it's not Lotso himself) was recently added within the pas month. it wasn't part of launch.

Exactly! He wasn't evil for the sake of being evil.

He was loved, abandoned for weeks/months, worked his way home for weeks/months and when he finally got back she had replaced him. That's a horrible feeling. Then he wandered aimlessly for weeks/months til he found what he thought was a safe haven and made sure he was never abused like that again. He's just afraid and hurt. True he could have changed at the end, but he had been hurt so long at that point, it wasn't really in his character anymore.
If anything, I would buy the plush for a kid and tell them that Lotso needs all the love they can give him so that he's not sad and lonely anymore.

I knew he was a villain in May, but I went to see him anyways ^_^ He's all brand new and happy at the park, like when Emily owned him, and too cute!

We also saw Lotso before the movie. We knew he was a villan, but that's about it. We like the bad guys here because they are interesting in general. After seeing the movie, my boys had very differnet reactions. Both thought it was terrible. The 7yo was FURIOUS we waited in line to see him. He actually asked me to delete the pictures. He says if he goes back, he would like to give Lotso a big giant kick (which is why we won't see him again). My 5yo didn't really mind. I tried to tease him about hugging on Lotso in all of the pictures. He was completely unphased. He says, "well, he is just so huggable and soft."

I feel the SAME way.

I thought maybe I was just being silly, but I really have no desire to take a picture with him at DHS.

I can get on board with "meeting" most Disney villains, but for some reason what he did in Toy Story 3 really disturbed me. Maybe it is just because he's a pink, cuddly, strawberry-scented bear (whereas Capt. Hook LOOKS like a true "villain"), but Lotso is one character that I will NOT be waiting in line to see this August.

But Lotso was soooo sweet at the meet and greet... :)
We waited in line with DD1. Of course we didn't know anything about Lotso then, but the pictures we have now are precious. DD loved him because he's so huggable. hehe...

If it makes you feel better you can think of him as Daisy's Lotso instead of the evil Lotso.

let's not forget the cool Nehru jacket !!! :thumbsup2 that Ken, he's so stylish!!

Maybe he has been REHABLITATED by Disney Imginears... You never know what a little Pixie Dust will do for you. :lmao:

Didn't Tinkbell betray Wendy yet people want to meet her.... even before the new movies.
