Lots of questions about DDP that I cant find answers for.....

We are using the Basic DDP for the first time in May and I have a few questions I cant seem to find the answers too I know someone on here will most likely know them......It will be 2 adults 4 kids 11,9,7,and 4.

1.We are going to 2 different buffet while we are there the Donalds Safari breakfast and Crystal Palace.It says on both menus that there is childs buffet.Do the younger 3 have to pick from that or can they pick from the whole buffet??? If not do they really pay attention to whos getting what???

2.Disney always has huge portions so many places have salads Can you pick a salad instead of a entree???

3.Desserts can you pick anything on the dessert menu or just certain ones???

4.Whispering Canyon Cafe--how would the All you can eat skillet work on the DDP? Can we order it??

5.Le Cellier Can you order the Le Cellier Experience on the DDP??

6.On the kids menu I notice there is one choice that the kid can pick that has appitizer(sp) entree,dessert Can they pick that????

The child's buffet is just so children can find their typical preferred foods easily. Anyone at any buffet can eat anything from the entire buffet.

In some places, salads are available as entrees (mostly quick service). In others, salads are considered appetizers. You may not sub an appetizer for a dessert but you might be able to sub one for an entree. It would be up to the restaurant whether or not to allow it.

3.Desserts can you pick anything on the dessert menu or just certain ones???

Any dessert on any participating menu. The only restriction I can think of right now is that 1) the Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream is excluded, although there are new reports that it may be ordered if it is shared by at least 4 people - and it counts as DDP dessert for all 4; and 2) Tangierine Cafe at Morocco allows only baklava.

4.Whispering Canyon Cafe--how would the All you can eat skillet work on the DDP? Can we order it??

Yes you can order it - but you cannot share it with anyone other than a child under age 3.

5.Le Cellier Can you order the Le Cellier Experience on the DDP??

Yes, but you must stick with the choices on the Experience menu. No substitution is allowed. This menu does not include the more expensive cuts of meat, so many DDP visitors to Le Cellier prefer to just pay cash for the appetizer if they want one.

6.On the kids menu I notice there is one choice that the kid can pick that has appitizer(sp) entree,dessert Can they pick that????

Yes they can, but it must be from the children's menu. Children's menu appetizers are not the same as appetizers from the adult menu. They usually include items such as a cup of soup, raw or cooked vegetables, or a small salad.

If not do they really pay attention to whos getting what???My little girl who is 8 got food off the adult section and I got food from kids section no one said anything so I assume it was ok. I wasn't the only one doing it. I hope you enjoy your trip!!!

Well i'll answer the ones i know

1-Anyone can eat from any buffet section- kids and adults can eat from the kids or adults buffet.

4-Yes- the skillet is covered.

6-Yes, they can pick this as well.

you can eat anything that's put out - no matter your age!! Its a good thing!
2.Disney always has huge portions so many places have salads Can you pick a salad instead of a entree???depends - if its an appetizer - people have posted not having any luck getting an appetizer instead of - you can try - if the menu has a Chicken Ceaser Salad - lots of menus do have salad entree options...

3.Desserts can you pick anything on the dessert menu or just certain ones???yep, anything - some have posted that this has led to the 'dumbing down' of menus - or the 'sameness' for instance it used to be you could find different dessert choices for CS at different places - iN MK but now its all pre packaged desserts - before dining plan - it was just different...

Kids and Adults can eat from either.

It depends on the restaurant. Our waiter at Yak & Yeti told us that they were not owned by Disney, so their contract with Disney forbid them from deviating from the official Dining Plan selection.

Again, it depends. Most places you can order anything. Some places offer larger desserts "for two" which you can't order for just you. Although Liberty Tree Tavern did let DW order their two person Fried Cheese appitizer just for her because we are on the DxDDP, but said we could not do that if we were on the regular DDP.

It seems many of your questions are about what is included or excluded specifically on the DDP.

On the DDP info sticky on this board, it states:

Exclusions, limitations and/or surcharges may apply (especially at Downtown Disney restaurants). We will try to keep a full, up-to-date list of those here.

Limitations/Exclusions/Observations
• Tangierine Cafe - limits your dessert to Baklava only.
• The Lunching Pad - no dessert
• Teppan Edo - The salad isn't included as part of the entree - can be ordered as an appetizer on DxDDP.
• Yakitori House - Only certain combinations permitted. For example, Tonosama Combination is not included.
• Pepper Market - Dessert options with CS only allowed from Tier 1.
• Spoodles - A Dessert "Sampler" can be ordered, but only by two Dining Plan guests.
• Raglan Road - Dessert "Sampler" is excluded. Appetizers “for two” can be ordered by two (deluxe) dining plan guests.
• Planet Hollywood - Aubriee reports that surf and turf is excluded.
• Wolfgang Puck Express - Two of the most expensive entrees (depending on the menu, this could be meatloaf, lasagna and/or tortellini) are not included in the Dining Plan.
• Wolfgang Puck Cafe - Sushi is considered an entree, not an appetizer.
• California Grill - Yoshi's Deluxe Sushi Platter and Snake in the Grass are considered entrees.

This might help with what desserts, apps and entrees are included/excluded. I find this helpful!
