Lots of Characters, Lots of Firsts but Lots of Drama: Why We Say NEVER AGAIN!! 3/21

So sorry it has been awhile for an update. I hoped to have gotten one this past weekend but it was a no go. We went to the pumpkin patch to pick out some pumpkins, ran errands and I worked on school stuff. When I last left you, we were trying to get everything together so we could head off to MK for Lilian’s first visit.

It was about 2:45 when we made our way to the bus stop, which was very close to our room. All we needed to do is walk downstairs (or use the elevator) and walk to the outer edge of the parking lot. So close! Lilian was so excited to be heading off to Disney finally!! We got to the bus stop and she preoccupied herself by playing with the rocks

This became a trend the whole time we were there. :upsidedow This particular day she had us chose a rock, which became a fun game for us adults. We could not just say a specific rock or point, we had to challenge her to find the right one we wanted. We waited about twenty minutes for the bus but with Lilian occupying us the time seemed to go quickly. :lmao: The MK bus came and off we went. We realized on the bus that this was Lilian’s first bus ride ever, one of the many firsts for her on this trip. :goodvibes

We arrived to MK about 3:20. On the way into gate area, I snapped the picture of the MNSSHP party sign that was already up:

Here were the crowds that had started to gathered at the NOJ entrance:

I noted down that we made our way through the gates at around 3:45, so not too bad but we had a bit of a mix up when we ended up in line behind the NOJ ticket holders, which were waiting for 4:00. After getting into the correct line, we finally got a good view of the train station:

I do not know if you can tell, but the flag was flying at half mass in remembrance for 9-11.

After moving through our first entrance, I asked to stop at the Photopass photographer right outside of the train station. Here is the first photograph we have ever had taken by a photopass photographer:

After we had family shot done, we asked the rest to join us, here is our first group shot:

DMIL and DFIL had a photo taken of just themselves (their first obviously):

I had fun with the borders when I went through our photopass pictures—normally I’m not a big border person but I thought why not try them especially because I got to keep the original intact. Oh and a big tip for those who don’t know: if you want to print out pictures larger than a 4x6, you have to save each picture as either a 5x7 or 8x10 too or they will not print properly!!

I snapped some pictures of the fall decorations on the outside of MK:

After our first photopass pictures, we finally crossed under the station, took a whiff of the popcorn smell (which DH did not believe they pump it in—he thought it was coming from down Main Street ;)) to finally come up and see the beautiful site known as Main Street and Cinderella’s Castle. Here is our first view of Main Street/Castle this trip and Lilian’s first ever look at Magic Kingdom:

Another of our view:

I looked at Lilian, she seemed a bit dazed. She was sitting lower to the ground in her stroller so I was not sure if she had realized what she was looking at so I squatted down and asked her what did she said. She looked around and a big grin split opened her mouth and she said in awe: “Cinderella’s Castle!!” Here is what she looked liked when she realized where we were at finally:

Lilian’s first look at the Castle she had been so excited to see!! At that moment, I knew that as long as I focused on Lilian and my DH, this trip would be as special and memorable as I hoped. :goodvibes

Did I mention this would a picture heavy TR, I like taking pictures and sharing so here are a few more of the decorations:

When looking at the train station, on the ride side is a cart selling autograph books so I popped over there to get Lilian her book. I had considered making one for the trip, but I have to say I am glad I did not. I know that sounds horrible but I just loved the books we got and they will hold up to Lilian. I will still make her a scrapbook. The one I elected to get is the one that is the autograph book and photo album combo. Our first purchase at Disney was Lilian's autograph, our first of both trips as we did not buy one for ourselves last time.

We Spent:

Autograph book: $11.67 at the MK Engraving Cart.

Have you ever noticed these on the Train Station walls?

Here is the one of City Hall I took while waiting to pay:

While I was waiting in line to buy Lilian’s autograph book, DGM went to the Emproium to look for a visor—she is VERY sensitive to the heat so she has to have someone to block the sun off her face at all times. She forgot her visor at home so she had a quest to find one. While waiting for her, I took these photos:

We got to hear the Main Street Band for a bit, but they were on their way back:

While waiting for DGM to get back, we asked Lilian what she wanted to do first. I thought perhaps it would be Dumbo but she said she wanted to meet the princesses. So we were off to TT to meet the princesses. DGM came out, but no luck on the visor. We were ready to head up Main Street:

Minor Drama Moment 2:
Along the way up Main Street, DGM asked where were going since she had missed the conversation with Lilian. We wanted to go back to Fantasyland and TT. She said we should take the train back from Adventureland to TT. I said if she would like to do that, that’s fine with me but we are planning on cutting around the back of the Castle. We want Lilian to actually see the park. She said “okay” and drove off.

I think she had forgotten Lilian had never seen Disney/Magic Kingdom and I was not looking for any shortcuts at the moment.

Onward where we trekked up Main Street:

You can see the crowds are starting to build, by this point it was after 4:00 and the NOJ crowds were starting to come.

The Partners Statue:

Dumbo:

I had wanted to take pictures of all the little statues surrounding Partners but I never did get a chance. :sad2:

Continuing in the next post (I do not want the posts to become too picture heavy so I'm trying to break up my longer posts into shorter ones if possible)

We were off to go around the castle to get back to FL. Here’s the castle as we walked around the side of it:

IMG_6276b.jpg

Once we came along to this part, DGM motioned me over and said she had forgotten this way to FL. She said this was great. I thought this fountain was really lovely; it was the first time for me to see:
IMG_6278b.jpg

Along our way through FL, we checked with Lilian to make sure she did not want to stop for anything she had seen. We passed the Carousel, Dumbo and continued onward. Something finally caught Lilian’s eye, enough to deter her from meeting the princess first thing. Where did we go first?

Up Next: What made Lilian stop on her quest to meeting the Princesses? Will we make it to meet them?

10/15: Lilian's First Ride at Disney

I love all the pictures. It looks like it was a beautiful day! Can't wait to hear what caught Lilian's attention...

LOVING your trip report so far! It has it all, drama, an adorable little girl, interesting commenters ;). Keep those updates coming, I can't wait to read more!

Thank you and :welcome: to my TR. I just put up another update, things got hectic for a bit around my house so I was working on other things. I hope to be a bit better about getting updates posted than the last go between.

I think I'm all caught up Steph! Sorry about the drama portions of your trip so far. You haven't even gotten to a park yet! It must be tough with all those people. We only had 5 and we were getting on each other's nerves.

Looking forward to reading more :)

Welcome home Jenny! We expected the drama, it is hard when there are so many people not to have drama. ;)

So glad you have all the links in your table of contents. I was able to get caught up because of them! :thumbsup2

Well, the family drama just continued! I was afraid of that. Traveling with other people--family or friends--presents some unique challenges.

Glad you finally got checked in at CSR. Your room looks really pretty. :)

Hi Michelle! I am glad the links are helping. :goodvibes With that many people and personalities, we were bound to clash here and there on the trip. :rotfl: We liked CSR. Of the two places we have stayed, I like CSR the best. Of course, I want to stay other places before I stay there again though. :rolleyes1

Wanted to say how pleased I am that everyone was able to move on. Drama lived or read can be just that drama. Hope we get another update soon!!

I am too Mary. I posted another update a little bit agao. Life got busy so I have not gotten on DIS much lately.

Aww, I love that fountain! Such a hidden gem! Ooo, I wonder what caught Lillian's eye? Can't wait to find out!

Great update! Love the Pics!

They pump the smell of popcorn in????:rotfl:

They do, indeed, pump popcorn smell under the tunnel. They are trying to create a movie/theater experience by having us walk under the tunnel, up into seeing the main show: Main Street and the Castle.

Take a whiff the next time you go through and you will smell what I mean.

:rotfl: I believe you...I have smelled the popcorn. I just assumed it was a vendor close by. Ya learn something new every day...still.. pumping the smell of popcorn in? LOL!!!
