Lots of Availability

Do you remember how long it took for the phone calls to start? A few people ask MS and was told it looked ok. I had hoped by now it was really real and our trip was pretty well set.

When the dining reservation glitch occurred last year, word got out fairly quickly that all the openings that people booked were in fact invalid...cancellations took a bit of time, as I recall, but no question that the problem was recognized and notice given that reservations made as a result of the "phantom" openings would be cancelled.

This has been completely different. No indication on the part of MS that these were in any way "phantom" rooms.... in fact, just the opposite... those who have spoken directly to MS have been told the reservations are all valid. Why so many openings happened at the same time may be the "glitch" in the way cancellations were handled... guess that's possible. But I honestly don't think they were "phantom" rooms. There is simply no evidence thus far, to support this and I believe, were that the case, we would have some indication from MS by now.

I only have a 1 day reservation for a AKV value studio made then that I am keeping track of... it looks fine. Not expecting it to be cancelled. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL

We went from a 5 nights at SSR to 4 nights BLT standard studio and one night WL studio. For about half a sec, I saw 5 nights at BWV. That would have been wonderful.

I only have a 1 day reservation for a AKV value studio made then that I am keeping track of... it looks fine. Not expecting it to be cancelled. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL

YIKES! I no sooner posted this and my phone rang... call ID came up as Disney Vacation Club! It was a sales pitch to get in on the add on deal before the end of the month.

Scared the you-know-what out of me!!

MS just combined the two nights that I booked when so much availability came on board with two nights that I had booked months ago. All looks good!

I had emailed MS last week asking about needing a roll in shower at SSR. I just got an email today. Our records show your reservations changed on August 9.

So I'm guessing it's a go for the rooms I got on Monday.

A few have ask about seeing rooms. I've been looking 5 -8 times a day for a studio Dec 5 at BLT, but I pull up the whole week , all resorts. I haven't seen a single room for the last three days.

I’m on one right now…the first time I’ve ever take a trip this long. We had some leftover timeshare assets that we needed to use-or-lose. But this might not be the last time I do this….

On a different note, has anyone noticed the lack of availability over the past few days. Normally in the morning I see different availability pop up, but for the last 3 days, nothing. I’ve also canceled about 6 assorted days, assorted resorts and as a habit, I go and check to see if they reload into inventory and not one has shown up. I’ve dropped single days in sept at okw, nov at both Bwv and HH, feb at Bwv, June at Bwv (2 different views) and i didn’t catch any of them showing backup. At this point I see no reason to even tell anyone I’m canceling because you won’t be able to book it. Is this a glitch and are we going to see another huge inventory dump after the next maintenance day.

I think you're right. Makes me feel a lot better about the rooms I secured during the feeding frenzy. 2BR at Riviera for Christmas was my wishlist. Couldn't be happier!

Jumping on this thread with kind of a related but unrelated issue I am seeing. I am considering switching my trip I have booked for end of August. It’s a split trip between Disney and universal. When I look at the full time period it shows certain availability but if I switch it to a certain other time period within that timeframe it gives me more options that didn’t even show as partial availability on the longer search. More specifically there is a two bedroom Bay Lake tower theme park view that shows as three nights available if I search the specific dates but if I search the week long shows zero availability. It’s driving me nuts because I keep thinking about switching but I don’t know if it is even really available. If it didn’t take hours to call member services I would just call but I am worried about everything going through and then finding out there is an issue when it’s too late to switch back. Has anybody seen this at all? When will Disney invest in their IT?

Also I am super sad I didn’t see this thread earlier because I am looking for Presidents’ Day too and it sounds like I would have gotten it had I looked at all instead of only looking at august availability.

Ive been seeing some weird things too. It shows available for SSR august 28-30 but when you click it, it’s not blue. Normally that means it’s gone. But if you try an hour from now it still does it. I noticed yesterday too. Same pattern. Thought I was going bonkers. Got some weird things going on.

For the VGC overbooking, it happened on April 1st, and I got the call on April 10th that I could either convert to reservation points for a hotel room or cancel. They had also put new VGC bookings on hold for like 2 weeks while they sorted things out.
