I don't know. What I read on another forum is that the writers had already decided to kill this character off but the actor would be contracted (obligated) to Lost for the whole season. The actor got upset because 1. he was being killed off a hot show and 2. he wouldn't be able to take on more work because of the contract. So he demanded pay for the whole season to even come back and appear in the first few episodes next season.alliecats said:So which actor is ballsy & confident enough to refuse to come back at the price they wanted to pay???
Obviously the way they finished the season, Sawyer, Jin and Michael could all be goners. They wouldn't need them to return for the start of the season. But, I've read different things that indicate Jin will begin learning English, and Sawyer and Jack will have more interactions. Add to that the spoiler that says eventually the raft boys will make it back to the island and you'd think they're all safe.
I can't imagine them killing Locke or Jack since they're so integral to the plot. The writers said earlier in the season that as long as Dominic (Charlie) comes out of his trailer he has a job. Hurley isn't likely. He adds the much needed comic relief.
My guess (based on what we know right now) is Sayid. Naveen Andrews has been less than complimentary to the show in interviews and I can see him playing hardball as far as salary goes. Honestly, I'm finding all of the deaths are detracting from the quality of the show and for the first time since September I'm thinking I may not be so crazy about Lost anymore
.ETA: I think JJ Abrams and Damon Lindeloff realized they missed the mark on the finale and that's why they're being so loose-lipped about what's going to happen next season. Trying to generate a buzz.

as Sawyer said (but I'm sure they love messing with everyone's minds). We did notice right off that the two younger men looked a lot more clean shaven than the old dude and not dressed quite as winter and Gorton's fisherman.
