LOST....*WARNING* Future Spoilers

The other Lost thread reminded me of the stuff the 20/20 special also said about the music. They said that Lost is very unique in that the music is recorded live (not electronic) and they record while watching the scenes from Lost. Really neat!

The following was in this week's Entertainment Weekly. Lost cocreator Damon Lindelof supplied the answers.

Mystery: Locke has been desperately trying to open a hidden portal in the jungle floor that radiates light through its window. What the heck is it?

Creator's Hint: The season finale focuses on the opening of the hatch, but it'd be a spoiler to say what, if anything, they find.

Mystery: A massive creature has been raising bloody hell all over the island. Will we finally get a look at the heretofore unseen beast?

Creator's Hint: You'll see at least 2% of the monster--potentially 5%. Which is good. That would be like seeing the toes. If it had toes.

Mystery: Before he died, Boone made brief contact through an airplane radio with...well, someone. Who was it? And what did this person say to him?

Creator's Hint: In the finale [viewers] will begin to intuit the transmission's source. It's one of the most important pieces of plot for season 2.

Mystery: Rest in peace Boone. Okay, that's enough grieving. Will we soon be parting company with another one of our survivors?

Creator's Hint: Not everybody might be coming back; that doesn't necessarily mean we're killing people...The finale delivers on life-and-death stakes.

Mystery: Will we discover the true meaning of Hurley's cursed lottery numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42), which also happen to be imprinted on the hatch?

Creator's Hint: The finale's last 10 minutes focus on the numbers in a non-obilique way. The numbers bring people to the island; the larger mystery is, Why?
Well, I'm glad we're going to see the monster, even if it's only 2-5%.

The comment about people not returning, yet not necessarily being killed is interesting :scratchin

thanks Bengalbelle:) Note to self: find a movie with his real accent

The box company was in California====connections: Locke worked in a box company in CA and Hurley owned one.......how many box companies in CA??

I was close. I figured it was somewhere on the west coast.

Hurley (Jorge Garcia) was also the first to be cast.

Another thing that one of the actors said got me thinking. He said something about his character being lost and that made me think that there is another connection that the characters share and that is that they are all lost in some way.

In my Sunday paper, the USA weekend insert has an article about Lost. Doesn't say a whole lot that we didn't already know but here is a quote from the article that confirms what everyone has been saying:
So far, the focus has been on only 14 of the 48 crash survivors, but that'll soon change. "The population of the island will be shaken up," Abrams says, revealing he's now casting new second-season regulars. "Not everyone will be coming back, and other people will be stepping up. Also, the survivors have explored almost none of the island, so next year becomes more mission-driven. And the inevitable fractious aspects of society-building begin to arise."
As for the current season ender, a two-hour finale airing May 25, brace yourself: "We've managed to pull off a cliffhanger that is emotionally satisfying but that demands that people talk about it all summer," Lindelof says. "It's a 'Who shot J.R.?' moment."
"The end of the season is unabashedly, mind-bendingly shocking," Abrams adds.

So sounds like we still might not get to see some of our favorites even though the character isn't actually killed. And they admit to a Who shot JR? ending. I don't know if I am going to be able to wait all summer for next season to start, but I don't really have a choice do I. :rotfl:

By the way Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there. :flower:

Sounds like next season will be a good one. I'd love to see them explore more of the island.

I'll bet there are more survivors on the other side of the island or something.

Aggh, I don't know about this. I don't want to meet a bunch of new people who are supposed to make up for the fact that say, Sawyer or Jack are "gone." No thanks. I like the cast we have, I want to watch them develop.

And I don't know what crack Damon Lindelof is smoking when he says we want to see cast members get killed. I don't know who this "we" is, but I am not one of them.

I think next season has the potential to really piss me off.

So any guesses on what or who is in the hatch? My guess is that it's people who were stranded there a long time ago and have found it safer to live underground. Maybe it's a sub or something with living quarters.

I feel the same way. I will not be happy if they have a whole new cast, with some of the regulars appearing here and there. I hope this won't be the case.

Latest from Kristen's chat. These are directly from the chat so they may get cleaned up (possibly tweaked) when the transcripts are posted.

mr asks: Is turnip head evil?
Kristin_Veitch replies: He is HUGE.

Kristin_Veitch: Harold Perrineau (Michael) talked about that in my interview with him, and that reminds me...

Kristin_Veitch: MARK YOUR CALENDER. On May 18, E! and E! Online are launching LOST WEEK, with exclusive interviews with the cast and producers, straight from my super-secret mission in Hawaii a couple weeks ago. As you know, I was there while they were shooting the big finale.

Kristin_Veitch: My column will go up on a special day that week -- WEdnesday, May 18. And we will have interviews and video clips with the stars. On E! News every night at 7 pm on E!, we will have a new cast member for you every day that week, from Wednesday to Wednesday. You MUST watch if you are a LOST fan.

jenniferq3w asks: LOST!
Kristin_Veitch replies: Only three episodes left, leading up to the big finale May 25 that will be two hours long! Whee!! I stand by my statement that the finale will shock the ****ake mushrooms out of you. And the monster will return.

slymm21 asks: I need Lost and Smallville scoop otherwise my head will explode!!!!
Kristin_Veitch replies: Hmm, funny you speak of an explosion, for that gives you a hint on LOST, as for S-ville, Next week's finale is going to be bigger than anything you've seen on Smallville before, something of Armageddon-and-’24’-like seriousness. There’s also a touch ofTru Calling -- Clark envisions all of it in a nightmare that seems to be coming true, and he has to race against the clock to prevent it from happening. Oh yeah, and all this goes down during graduation day, so there’s a touch of Buffy, too.

lostfan101 asks: so just how huge is the lost cliffhanger? is it going to be a 'who shot jr' moment? Can't you just spill a little??? for me?
Kristin_Veitch replies: If you saw my story in USA Weekend, you know that is EXACTLY how Damon Lindelof described it. I can tell you only that it involves someone being taken, and others left with their lives hanging in the balance.

mnkygrl25 asks: And the bell tolls for..Michael. Next one dead on Lost. True/False? feel free to modify this question if it gives too much away.
Kristin_Veitch replies: I swear to you, I do not know. And as I understand, no one else does either. You'll understand when you see my big LOST feature (8 pages long!) next Wednesday. The producers are doing things in a way that do not give definitive answers for people ... I will explain.

prudiebel asks: Is this week the raft episode on Lost? I don't want to see Sawyer go!
Kristin_Veitch replies: Me either, but he most definitely is. :(
Kristin_Veitch: :(
Kristin_Veitch: :(
Kristin_Veitch: ^^^

ml26 asks: Will you have Boone too! (a little birdie told me he's back for the finale)
Kristin_Veitch replies: Yes, but only in flash backs ... We'll see what happened with everyone as they got on the plane.

lostaway123 asks: Common, FINALE, LOST, DISH?Kristin_Veitch replies: We'll see LOTS of the four boys at sea, and what happens out there will shock the daylights out of you. Also, EVERYONE is vulnerable as far as not coming back next season.

acerp asks: Is there something going on between Turnip Head and Walt?
Kristin_Veitch replies: Mmm-hmm.

jn asks: LOST! PLEASE!
Kristin_Veitch replies: Okay, geez. YOu guys are rabid on that show today -- understandably. With Boone gone, the original fourteen are no longer and you can expect constant change in the cast, as early as this week. A Minute With Stan Hooper's Dan Roebuck is joining the castaways as Mr. Artz and the crazy French lady will be back the following week to warn the others.

Kristin_Veitch: And don't forget to mark your calendars for LOST WEEK on E! Online and E! News: May 18 - 25. Me love you long time!

And from Spoilerfix:

05/09 - This week, everyone will find out the hatch exists, and though Walt has never seen it, he will tell Locke NOT to open it. Other secrets will be outed this week, too, like Kate's. And Sawyer will be accused of being the one to poison someone else, but it's not him. Source: Kristin on E!Online

05/07 - So far, the focus has been on only 14 of the 48 crash survivors, but that'll soon change. "The population of the island will be shaken up," Abrams says, revealing he's now casting new second-season regulars. "Not everyone will be coming back, and other people will be stepping up. Also, the survivors have explored almost none of the island, so next year becomes more mission-driven. And the inevitable fractious aspects of society-building begin to arise." WHO is Turniphead?

Thanks for posting, Bengalbelle. I didn't like one word of it. If, next year, we have an entirely new cast whose stories we have to watch, it will all go on without me. No Jack, Sawyer, Kate, Sayid, Charlie or Locke? Why would I tune in???

Turnip head is the name Charlie gave to Clairs baby until she gives him a name. :rotfl:

I so agree!

Me, too!! ::yes:: What are they going to do, give us all new characters with all new backstories and STILL no answers??? Ugh! I hope that isn't true! If people leave, it has to be because they were forced to leave...why else would someone leave such a successful show this early on?

I couldn't think of who Turnip Head was either!

WHAT???!!!!!

I agree with you Alliecats. I love the cast. I love the characters that they have developed. I wouldn't mind bringing some new ones in, but PLEASE don't take the good ones we have.

That's exactly what I was going to say before I had to rush off to check my dinner.
I think it would be really cool to encounter others on the island. Whether it's other survivors from flight 815, survivors from another flight, seawrecked survivors, crazy French hatch people...it really wouldn't matter as long as it was well written.

The thought of losing the people we have grown to love, either all of them or a majority of them, makes me sad. Admittedly Boone was not my favorite character, but now that he's gone I really miss him. I also feel like there was so much more to his story that we could have learned. I feel a little cheated now.

I understand their (writers) thoughts that if there is a reasonable explanation for everything that has happened and will happen, then it's reasonable to expect that not all survivors will live the entire length of the show. I agree, that's reasonable. BUT: killing off lots of main characters they have written in such a way that we love them is not the way to go about it. That's not reasonable IMHO. The deaths would logically occur right after the crash, then, IMO, some could occur later in the show (like 2-3 seasons from now) and still be "logical". They did a good job of tying Boone's death into the plot seamlessly. They felt a need to "off" a character to keep it real and they did a good job of it. Going after more main characters seems like they're going after the shock value. They have a great show as it is. They don't need to kill lots of characters for the shock value. The twists and turns in the writing do a good job of that.

The one bright spot I see in all of this is: JJ Abrams or Damon Lindelof said that just because a character might not come back in the second season didn't mean he/she is dead. It would be a cool story if one of them were "lost" for the second season (ahem, like Sawyer could go make a movie, do a Playgirl layout :earseek: , come visit a southern girl in Louisiana... :rolleyes1 ) while the survivors are trying to solve the mystery of what happened to him. In season 3, viola! HE'S BAAAACCKKKK!!

Anyway, as far as the deaths go, I hope they're equal opportunity killers and a female bites the dust!
