Lost Series DVD

Yep, we own every season. Just bought Season 6 on Tuesday, started watching it tonight.

I am wondering if the extras in the series box set are worth it. I'm a huge fan. I have all of the seasons but six.

I'm saving the extras for last, but for season 6, it says that it includes what happened on the island during the time Hurley was in charge - maybe 12 minutes? I'm looking forward to that - I'm hoping they show Hurley and Ben burying Jack, and maybe Hurley and Ben getting to know and like each other.

Yes, I bought it on Tuesday!

I don't know what extras came with the seasons one by one, but I'm pretty happy with the extras the complete set came with. There are a few silly things in there, like a black light to look for clues, a "special note" from Jacob, a journal entry from the Black Rock, and the game that Jacob and the Man in Black played with the black and white stones. The box it comes in is very solid and heavy.

it doesn't. I saw it online a month or so ago and really it just features, Ben, Hurley and some Walt and I dont think they were ever even shown on the 'island'.

The extras include commentary on the first episode and on the last episode. I watched the first episode commentary and found it contained some information I hadn't heard before. I'm looking forward to hearing the commentary on the finale.

The 12 minute episode shows Ben, Hurley, Walt, and some Dharma Initiative guys. I liked it. I'd love it if they did a series with Ben and Hugo on the island. :thumbsup2

I haven't watched the other extras yet. If I'm remembering correctly, there's a blooper reel and the making of the last season along with a few other things that I'm blanking on right now.

ETA: I just realized you were talking about the complete series extras. We just got Season 6. I already have the rest--I'm not buying them again!

Is there a difference between the extras in season six and those in the ox set. I am torn between which one to buy.

We got the full-series box set, but haven't unwrapped it yet... hopefully we'll have time to do so tomorrow.

What did you find out? I don't have any of the DVDs, but i'd love to know what the commentary said if you don't mind sharing!

Okay so we opened the box this morning. Gosh. Incredible. First, the packaging is impressive. I know - being impressed about packaging is pretty silly, but you can tell a lot about how much went into something by how much is put into packaging it. There is an outer plastic wrapper, of course, but then a paper wrapper stuck onto the box with that special goo that won't mar the box itself. But that box is actually just an outer box. Inside is a trapezoidal box inside a specially-designed corrugated package, with some thin Styrofoam wrap protecting some of the detailing. Keep in mind, we haven't even gotten to the goods yet! ;)

The trapezoidal box has a cover you lift out by a pull-ribbon, because the cover is rabbeted into the trapezoidal box. On the inside of the cover is a relief of the island itself. there are four compartments in the border of the trapezoidal box, containing parts and pieces for the Game, and something that looks like a laser pointer. Needs batteries.

The guts of the trapezoidal box can be lifted out from paper tabs on the sides. Inside is the guide for the discs, including a blurb for each episode. It is very nice, with great images of the characters integrated into the background of the guide. Then there's the Game board itself, which is nice, and has some special texturing, though of all the special bits of this set, it's the least impressive. Then come the six tri-folds, one for each season, containing the discs for that season. The discs each have a slide-in spot (no plastic hub holders - not a big deal - I actually prefer this though it is a cheaper approach).

Next, we need to find some time to put some of these discs into the player! :)
