LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

I think it was John also. The funeral director asked Jack if he was friend or family and Jack replied "neither". I don't think Kate would of had the reaction to Jack saying he thought she may be there if it had been Sawyer. Jack would not of cried over Ben's death.

He might have cried over Ben if he eventually realized that Ben was right about how no one should leave the island. Ben tried his best to warn Jack last night before Jack contacted the outsiders on the sat phone, saying this was not supposed to happen, they were not suppose to leave. Maybe once Jack gets back to modern day life something is freaky and he realizes that Ben was right. He was not destined to leave and he screwed with his own destiny by making that call. Which makes sense since he was so determined to get back to the island in his "flash forward".

I loved that Hurley had a chance to be a hero, he was so excited for himself:)

I was totally shocked to see Walt and the original Walt at that.

What I don't understand about John is, why doesn't he just let the Losties leave? He can stay behind if he wants and be with the Others. He doesn't have to leave. Danielle already said she wasn't leaving and I can totally see that. She's been there 16 years, there's nothing for her in the real world. Speaking of Danielle, I was a little disappointed with the reunion. I would have liked Alex to have asked her some questions about how Ben got her, etc.

I'm just bummed at the fact that we have to wait until February to watch the show again:mad:

That was before she found her daughter. I thought it was kind of funny when Alex started yelling at Ben about the brainwashing of her BF & he says" OK maybe I went a little over board:rotfl:

I think I heard Jack whisper "Forgive Me" before he tried to jump off the bridge. Did anyone else hear that?

Yes, I caught that too. I thought maybe he was asking for forgiveness because he was the cause of everyone leaving the island and he screwed up everyone's destiny. This is a longshot guess.... lol

The lady in the car wreck, who was she? Any speculation on if she was connected to any of the people on the island?

I noticed too that we are no closer to finding out anything about the reason behind the 3 toe statue from last season...... grrrrrr...

This is a very interesting thread. I have nothing to add but am taking away new insights.

Actually, I hate to break it to you but I think it's going to be 8 months, unfortunately. I believe it will start February 6 and end the May 21, 2008, totaling 16 episodes. :(
OH NO!!!! DD graduates college that day. Which will I do?

My wife who cannot stand this show openly but was really rooting for Jin and Hurley tonight and she also said why did Charlie close the door and stay inside. funny how she knows all these people and never watches the show. Maybe she is Jacob.....:confused3

OMG!! :rotfl2:
What if she is?

Wow. I just got hooked recently, and now my head is spinning! Anyway, I've been thinking about the show last night, and I just wanted to add one more thought.

Maybe this isn't significant, but when someone dies, usually a family member or close friend places the obituary in the paper. I don't think everyone automatically gets one, right? So, who put the obit in? Wouldn't that person have come to the funeral?

No, the funeral home places the obituary in the paper. But, you are on to something. SOMEONE had to have claimed the body and hired the funeral home.

YES YES YES YES!!!! I was laying in bed "trying" to go to sleep after the finale and suddenly my eyes flew open. I remembered that part and couldn't figure out what the heck was going on. How was Christian alive again?? That is definitely the biggest mystery to me right now. Unless I misunderstood him, but I guess I am not the only one.

Me too! I could not get to sleep last night thinking about that!

When the guy at the pharmacy says he recognizes Jack as the hero and Jack says "I'm not a hero". What if that guy isn't talking about the accident on the bridge but about the rescue from the island. That guy is totally amazed with Jack. "Do you know what this guy did!" Sure, he pulled a few out of a car wreck but he would get a bigger "hero's welcome" for saving all those people.

Great theory!

I thought last night was the best show in the whole series so far. It had everything; multiple suspenseful story lines, sadness, triumph, and thought-provoking shockers. Excellently done!!

I'm thinking things with Locke are not as they appear. The way he said something like "You were not supposed to...." when Jack made the call makes me think we will know much more eventually about why Locke is trying to prevent their rescue. It reminded me of when the shop woman said to Desmond that he was not supposed to buy the ring for Penny.

GREAT episode!!

One thing my ds12 pointed out was how is Kate living so peacefully?? He kept asking.. isn't she wanted by the law?? How come she's not in jail?? did they pardon her?

Why did Jack's ex refuse to drive him home? what did she say "considering the circumstances it would be inappropriate???" If Jack's father is still alive, could she be pregnant by him??? Or maybe even if he's not alive. :scratchin

I thought so too - I said to dh - if it's not appropriate to give him a ride home then why would she even bother going to the hospital? I know she said she's still his emergency contact - so? when they called she could have just said "thanks for letting me know but we've been divorced for 4 years" (or whatever)

The first thing I thought of was, why did the hospital even call an emergency contact? Jack was conscience and did not seem to be out of it, he had a scratch on his head. Do hospitals routinely call emergency contacts for adults that seem self sufficient?

I don't think it was really an obituary. It seemed more like a news story about a man found dead. I also wondered who hired the funeral home though. Maybe it's just that the man was found near there and when nobody claimed the body that funeral home provided services for free.

I wondered that too. There didn't seem to be any reason to call her. And since she didn't seem to want to be there, she could have asked if he was conscious and okay and didn't even have to go.

That wouldn't have been as good for the story though. The writers wanted us to know that she (I can never remember her name...I just call her Carol from "Ed") and Jack were still divorced and that she's now pregnant.

Good catch! I have known people who died without an obit, and with my dad, I remember that, although the funeral home placed it for us, they asked us what we wanted it to say, and added the cost to the funeral bill. Someone had to arrange all that, and why wasn't that person there?

Hmm, unless the deceased had prearranged all that on his/her own. :confused3

As for Walt, I don't think that Locke seeing him necessarily means he's dead. Remember Shannon saw him that night she was with Sayid right before she died. I think that was before Michael and Walt left on the others' boat, right? Remember, there was something "special" about Walt.

Was anyone else hoping that when Tom said "Yeah, Jack" on the walkie, that he was in with Jack and Juliette? I was so hoping! He seemed like he could be a good guy.

Loved what Sawyer said after he shot him. "That's for taking the kid off the boat." Go SAWYER!:cloud9:

One more thing...and I'm not sure if this makes sense.

When Mikhail pulled the pin in the grenade, couldn't Charlie and Desmond have both swum for the surface? I guess it's possible that the explosion wouldn't have killed Mikhail and leaving the station could have been dangerous for them, or even that Charlie thought that Mikhail might have locked them in somehow. But, I think that Charlie let himself die to save Desmond and so that the events Desmond saw (Claire and Aaron getting on a helicopter) would happen. Here's what's really weird though. If that's true, Charlie let himself die only because Desmond said he would. Isn't that kind of circular?

That would have been cool. I never thought of it.

I think my favorite part was when Rousseau elbowed Ben in the face to shut him up.
