LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

I think Walt must have learned "The Secret" from Oprah! :rotfl:

Though the show never confirmed it, as usual, it does seem like things he is thinking suddenly appear! Of course he is gone now and who knows if he'll ever return.

In an interview with EW the creators said that the Walt story line will make a return.

Okay, I'm not sure how I feel about this episode, except for the fact I felt terrible for Sawyer, because it seems like Kate has forgotten their little tryst and wants to act like it never happened.

I really wonder if Ben will let Jack and Juliet go home. I can't imagine he will, but he still talks as though he intends on doing that.

Can anyone explain why those guys beat Jack up? I know he wasn't "one of them", but so what. I was wondering if I missed something.

I don't know about Thai traditions, but I once did a 20 page research paper on Samoa and they have a similar tattoo method that is considered a rite of passage for boys. I'm wondering if this particular type of tattoo is sorta cuturally sacred and Jack having it is seen as a huge insult? Maybe someone knows a little better. . . but that's my guess.

It is driving me nuts, the actress that played Isabel - where have I seen her before?? I want to say I know her as a child/teenage actress and now that she is older it is a little harder to recognize her, but I know I have seen her somewhere.

I know the creators of Lost had said that would incorporate Matthew Fox's real tattoos into the show, but did it really require an hour worth of show time to do it? All I have to say is, this better have some greater meaning in the future to justify a whole episode.

UGH...when are we going to see Sayid, Sun, Jin...you know, the ones that started the whole show! I had my hopes up last week when we actually got to see Charley and Hurley. :hourglass

She played Christina, the daughter of Joan Crawford, in "Mommie Dearest".

I was not pleased with last night's episode. The promos kept saying they were going to answer three of the shows biggest mysteries.

Er..... what answers did we get last night? I think the big one was what happened to some of the crash survivors who got snatched (and the kids), but what are the other two? Do the producers really think Jack's tattoos were one of the show's big mysteries? :headache:

I thought last night's episode was really frustrating. It bugs me that ABC hypes episodes like this as being full of answers when in reality they gave us very little information.

Lost reminds me a lot of X-Files in some ways... FOX would always be hyping next week's episode as "not to be missed", but they never really delivered on all of the answers you were looking for. In that sense the shows are very similar because if they gave us all the answers there really wouldn't be a show to watch. So we have to be satisfied with the writers trickling out tidbits slowly over the course of a season.

I think the key to Lost is set your expectations very low on the answers and just enjpy the story as it unfolds.

I agree also. Last weeks episode was so awesome and this week I kept waiting for something. Maybe its just building up to something else. Hopefully so. That whole thing with Cindy and the plane people "watching" was so totally bizarre. I thought there would be more since that's basically what was in the promos.

I continue to be disappointed in Lost. Ok, they were supposed to give us answers to three of the biggest questions. So we found out (1) that Cindy and the kids who were snatched are still alive and are now part of the Others; and (2) how Jack got his tatoos. What's the 3rd question that was answered?

And who cares about Jack's tatoos? So......he spent some time on some island somewhere and "outsiders" weren't supposed to get tatoos, like someone said maybe it's some kind of right of passage or religious thing in their culture. So I guess we're supposed to see some parallels between Jack being an outsider on the island where he got his tatoos and now he's an outsider with the Others. Big deal.

And yes, I also feel sorry for Sawyer that Kate seems to forget all about saying that she loved him and only cares about rescuing Jack. So they'll get back to the beach and get more help and launch a rescue mission to the Others' island (now that they have a boat), but what they don't know is that the Others are now returning to their side of the Losties' island since Kate and Sawyer now know about the 2nd island.

I really had a hard time staying awake last night, partly because of the new time slot, but I'm sure a lot has to do with the story just not being interesting any longer. Makes me sad; I really liked Lost the past 2 seasons, but this season is losing me.

You're not the only one. I have watched every episode of this show since the very beginning. Not the repeats, not on DVD, but when each show originally aired. I have stayed up way past my bedtime for this show. I am so disappointed with this season. I enjoyed last week's episode with the whole Desmond thing, but last night was a major "yawn" episode for me. I hope that next week is more interesting. If they don't do something soon, they are going to lose me. It's just not worth staying up for anymore.:sad2:

I have been a big Lost fan since the beginning. I have watched every episode, but haven't joined the online community or anything like that. Anyhow, after last night I just had this feeling that the show is now circling the drain. I will continue to watch, but part of me would rejoice if Lindelof and Cuse announced that the series was going to end this year. That way they could just move along and tell the story.

Count me in too. I think it was the most boring episode so far.

I actually did care about the tattoo, but the explaination was so lame! We get a flashback with a character we've never seen (tho you'all did catch Jin in the flashback on the beach right?) and totally don't get why he fell for her so fast or WHY in the world did he MAKE her tattoo him? That was so weird.

And Cindy totally ticked me off to. Does she think everyone else from the plane has been living in nice little houses like them?

So I guess the Others only took the "good" people from the crash and left the others to die?

I think the third "secret" was that the Others live on the big island and only work on the smaller island.

I thought last night's episode was a major yawn as well. I really dislike the woman who played the tattoo artist. And I thought it seemed very anti-Jack to force a woman to give him a tattoo when she was so against it, but I guess they excused it by him being drunk. I missed Jin on the beach, so I'll have to rewind and find that easter egg.

Was anyone else yelling at Sawyer when he was telling Carl to leave? I was like, at least ask him a few more questions! Don't just stop at the fact that they have yards!

I'm assuming the abducted tailies have been brainwashed like Carl was - why else would they think it perfectly reasonable that the Others had Jack locked up in a cage?

I think the key to Lost is set your expectations very low on the answers and just enjoy the story as it unfolds.
I agree with that.

I'm glad that we finally saw an apperance of Cindy, the kids, and the other tailies. But what were they doing there? And why aren't they in cages? And there's a whole bunch more of questions now.

Three answers? Please. Are the people who make these promos clueless or what? Of course we'll have to download the podcast and get the explanation...I've never watched a show that required as much "work" as LOST! I just hate that they keep hyping every episode! They do it all the time and rarely deliver.

The episode wasn't horrible, just kind of pointless. This kind of stuff was fun first season; we we're learning about the characters, but now it's old. Does it really matter what Jacks tattoos mean? Oh wait, his tattoos explain why he tried to save Juliette? I don't know. This show is too complicated to figure out and they need to start moving the plot along.
