LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

The thing that bothers me about that tattoos is that they're Matthew Fox's tattoos, not Jack's. To me it feels like they're reaching for story lines... hey, let's use Matthew's tattoos as a story line.

It's something they discussed very early in interviews. Matthew Fox is VERY guarded about his tattoos - won't tell anyone what they mean, they're very personal to him. But they decided to assign meaning to them for Jack very early and said in many interviews that it wouldn't come into play later in the series. I think this is why the super-fans obsessed on it, because the producers mentioned more than once that there is a story behind them, some importance to the storyline.

I am an optimist so I agree, more meaning may show up later to the tatoo thing.

I was beginning to think I was the only one left! :rotfl: I guess I just don't have high expectations for answers on this show. I don't mean that in a "they won't deliver" way, but just seeing how things have worked since day one. There are rarely, if ever, direct answers and often the most obscure and seemingly pointless detail will hold more answers than the more overt clue. I guess I have a lot of patience and kind of enjoy the analyzation - trying to figure out what they really mean with the information they do give out.

For example, I mentioned this in another thread but probably should have mentioned it here. Last week's episode bothered me a little, had me thinking. I was stuck on the picture with Desmond and Penny. First thought is "oh, they (the producers, writers, etc) just overlooked it" when I see that they bought one picture. We've seen Desmond with the picture multiple times. But in last season's finale we saw Penny with the picture. How is that possible if there was only one picture taken? The more I thought (and when I watched the repeat the other day) it just seems like one of those small details that they would try and slip in that most would overlook or fluff off but actually has a much more important role in the story. Is the existance of the two pictures supposed to prove that Desmond has somehow relived that part of his life - once taking the picture for himself like we saw, and once with Penny taking the picture with her?

Really enjoyed this episode! I liked seeing more of Hurley's backstory. I'm glad that we had a not-so-serious episode for a change, but things are also moving along. And I love the name Tricia Tanaka for some reason...that meteor was unexpected too!

While I enjoyed seeing more of Hurley, I'm so tired of back stories. Most of last night's episode was very boring and hard to pay attention. It was good seeing Cheech Marin. Hurley's find on the island was a riot. And the ending is the only part that really held my attention!

There was one part that really caught my attention. When Hurley concentrating on something and made it happen. Make me think of when Locke was teaching Walt about hunting. How you have to vision it to make it happen. I think that might be important.

I think you might be on to something!

I liked last night's episode too. I really thought that they were going to crash and Charlie would die and poor Hurley would never get over feeling like he was cursed, but thankfully that didn't happen.

I loved the scenes between Sawyer and Hurley. I loved when Sawyer went to yell at Hurley for stealing his stuff only to be greeted with a great big bear hug. The look on Sawyer's face was great. He definitely has a soft spot for Hurley.

Loved last night's episode!! Not a lot happened, but it felt like coming home. DANG Sawyer was funny! And clean. :)

I also think they came back to people talking with eachother how they should, like Hurley filling Libby in, people asking Kate questions, you know, normal stuff. Nice to see everyone interact again. Made me remember why I enjoy watching them all so much.

The other thing I want to bring up is, when is Danielle going to stop shooting at them? I think they've proven that they are not out there to hurt her. I also don't understand why she doesn't come to live with them instead of being by herself. Has this ever been addressed?

I kept thinking that, too. I wonder if Charlie was "supposed to" die that way, but Hurley somehow managed to stop the cycle? I hope. I love Charlie, and I really don't want to see him die. Like Sawyer, he's always saying little things that crack me up, too, like last night's something like: "Follow the dog with the severed arm into the creepy jungle? Yea..." :rotfl:

I wonder this too, but I think maybe she's so whacked out from living alone in the jungle for so long, that she prefers it to living with others, and she's always afraid it's the others coming for her, so she shoots before she knows for sure who it is. :confused3

DANG Sawyer was funny!

"Well, look who's hooked on phonics!"

OMG!! My BF and I could NOT stop laughing after that line! We had to rewind to hear what happened after. Classic! :lmao:

I would think that she just might not feel comfortable around them. She has been there for 16 years basically by herself and it would take awhile to feel okay around other people again.

I think she is just shooting and asking questions later thinking it is the Others out there, that the survivors won't venture that far into the jungle.

:thumbsup2
I posted the same time as you, I really think that's what's wrong.

Sawyer and Hurley were hilarious! Red.....neck.....man. The Skeletor comment was so funny, too. :rotfl2:

You guys are probably right about Danielle being alone so long is probably why she can't be with them and I also have to remember that for her she's only known them for a few months, even though for us it's been a few years:)

That was one of my favorite parts last night as well. I also loved it when Sawyer was teaching Jin English, and the only three things he "needed to know," to say to women. :rotfl:

I liked this episode so much better then last weeks. This one wasn't overly hyped, and seeing Kate and Sawyer, (especially Saywer,) with the 815 castaways, was good to see again.

I thought it was a good episode too if only for the snappy one-liners.

Sawyer: "It's work man. It's not his name, it's his job." :rotfl2:

Okay, if Danielle Rousseau knows so much about the others, why hasn't she noticed Alex in all this time? That seems weird, especially since Alex seems to roam around pretty freely.

I was wondering the same thing CheshireVal.

Next week's episode looks like a good one!

I think Danielle is just more messed up than we know. She doesn't want to go near the others, but you would think that years ago she would have gone to look for Alex...or maybe she did. We need more of her story. It'll be interesting to see how much convincing she needs to help Kate...I would think that she won't want to do it.

BTW, I really like the Lost discussions on these boards...we can talk about it without going too deep into hidden meanings or bashing each other for missing or misinterpreting clues. I've checked out some other Lost boards and people are WAY too serious about it.

Remember though that Alex was not allowed to go with Kate, Sawyer and her boyfriend, it could be that she doesn't or can't leave the second island. I don't remember if she was on the boat with Jack and them but it could also be that where they are going she can't get access to the part of the island where her mother is.

And since she seems to be like her mother they may not want her running loose and possibly running into Danielle.
