LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

Something that has been bugging me - may be absolutely nothing - but:

If Danielle's Daughter was named Alex - and Alex was kidnapped as an infant -why would the Others keep her name - the one and only tie that can bind her to Danielle? The baby wouldn't have known her own name so why keep it?

I can't help but wonder if Danielle is an Other - maybe one that went away or was banished. Maybe the baby was not kidnapped or taken from her but became the "property" of the Others when Danielle gave birth. Danielle protested at her baby taking any part in any of teh scientific experimentation and in order to keep teh baby and protect whatever it is they wanted - they "did" something to Danielle (think along the lines of Alex's boyfriend whatshishame - lol) and she was then banished or escaped or whatever.

Danielle has been on that Island for 16 years and never found her daughter yet it didn't take more than a few months for Kate to run into her.....

Remember though that Alex was not allowed to go with Kate, Sawyer and her boyfriend, it could be that she doesn't or can't leave the second island. I don't remember if she was on the boat with Jack and them but it could also be that where they are going she can't get access to the part of the island where her mother is.

And since she seems to be like her mother they may not want her running loose and possibly running into Danielle.

The night that the tailies went looking for Michael and were confronted by the Others and had their guns taken from them Alex was there so she can go to the other island.(season two I think) And given the circumstances she would probably have no idea the Rousseau was her mother if she even is at all.

Yeah, he did and based on the show last week the back yards are on the losties island.

Sorry to turn around and post again so quick but that made me think of something else. During the Fall when they introduced the others and their housing compound they did the flashback to the day of the Flight 815 crash and showed Ben dispatchhing the two guys Ethan, and the other one and I remember a lot of speculation on another board I read about how long it would take for them to get to the crash sites, but since they were on the same island I guess it didn't take so long.

i kinda wonder though. Did the Doc make it off the island? i got a little clueless last week when they drove the boat away. like where are they going? Im confused.

She may have been by the Others' side up until a few months ago (remember it's only been a few months for the Losties) It's possible Alex just started rebelling and going off on her own, since she is now 16. That might explain why Danielle and Alex have not crossed paths.

That was one of my favorite parts last night as well. I also loved it when Sawyer was teaching Jin English, and the only three things he "needed to know," to say to women.

When Jin went back to Sun at the end of the show with the flower, I totally thought he was going to say, "No, those pants don't make you look fat."

I don't believe that Danielle knows and sees everything that goes on that island. In fact, we don't know much about Danielle. She has been on the island for 16 years, but we don't know what she was doing. She may have been held captive by the Others during most of that time. It is obvious that she hates the Others. So, she must have had some negative contact with them at some point. I am really interested in getting her back story. I hope they do it sometime soon. Before they cancel the show all together.

I heard that Lost didn't even make it into the top 20 shows for last week. They have taken a big fall and I really, really, really hope they can recover. I personally found last nights episode kinda weak. While I enjoyed the interaction between Sawyer, Hurley, Jin and Charlie, I don't think the story was really advanced. We didn't really learn anything new. I think it was a total puff piece.

I was waiting for that too...but I guess it would have broken the sentimentality of the moment.

They did such a good job with the humor this time around. I was getting SO sick of Sawyerisms - they were starting to sound way too forced and hokey. He actually made me chuckle last night . . . first time in a good year or so that I found his insults funny.

I thought about that last night, too. It had never crossed my mind until Kate was talking about her and said "and her name is Alex." If the Others really kidnapped her as a baby, why on earth would they call her by her given name? How would they even know her given name? I think your idea makes sense. Danielle could be a rebellious Other and know that Alex is still alive, but maybe she knows the Others will kill her if she tries to return, or maybe they've just convinced Alex that her mother abandoned her or something so she wouldn't want to go with Danielle.

Well, last night's show was a breath of fresh air. It was soooo nice to get back to the beach! I'm glad Kate made the connection between Danielle and Alex, but I don't think it's smart to try to rescue Jack right away. Time will tell!

Loved the interaction of Sawyer, Hurley, Charlie and Jin. Sawyer teaching Jin the right things to say to a woman was hilarious!

Something that bugged me from last night's show - when Kate and Sawyer were walking thru the jungle on their way back to the beach, Kate kept calling Sawyer "James" (which is his real name). They sat on a log and Kate told Sawyer that all he had to do was apologize. Sawyer wouldn't apologize, so then Kate said something along the lines of "we're back to square one" and started calling him Sawyer again. Apologize for what??? Apologize for their little tryst in the cage? Takes two to tango, Katie! Unless she meant that Sawyer had to apologize for not going back to rescue Jack?????

I also enjoyed last nights show, Thanks goodness. I think she it was from the fight they had in the jungle when she wanted to go back and get jack and he said no. Did anyoone notice the glow around Hurleys head when he was following the dog. I thought it might have been a carlight from outside but when i rewound it there was definitely something there.

She ment for him to appoligise for sayign that she regretted the fling that they had. 2 episodes they had a big blowout whener he basically said she only did it because she thought he was gonna be dead.

As for last nights episode...loved it! of course your talking to the one person who has no problems with any episode yet as I am crazy about mystries and I also know that this show is more like a book then a tv show so I don't expect answers until the last season(final chapter)

As for the Alex thing...it is 100% her! The others would have no reason to change her name, espically if they thought Russo wasn't going to be able to survive on ther own.(remember the rest of her group died) "WE" have pretty much known it was here daughter since they showed her last year helping Claire.
