LOST - Season 2 (No spoilers)

It's no wonder Echo has major issues with a past like that.

Great episode except there was no mention of Sayid and they did show every other character, even if it was brief.

Can't wait for next week :cool1:

Thanks! How in the world did they think most of us would see all that?

Cause they know there are obsessed people out there who will record the show then slow it down so they can see what's up. :rotfl:

I didn't even realize there were images in the smoke! I have to agree it was a great episode though I was a little freaked out by Eko's past  I couldn't believe it when he slashed those 2 people! I was a little disappointed he was such a bad guy. :worried:

Thanks for posting those! I thought I saw images but I couldn't make any out.

Locke and Ecko both appear to be men of faith. Could that have something to do with the smoke leaving them alone? If you're faith is strong, you are able to resist it or something? I don't have any reasoning for the time it grabbed Locke, although even then Locke wasn't afraid. He told Jack to let him go.

This is what I was thinking, too. Remember that episode that was called "Man of Science, Man of Faith" (re Locke)? Both had faith that they wouldn't be harmed by it.

I could not catch the images in the smoke at all. Thanks Phorsenuf and TiggerPiglet! I thought I heard a weird sort of whirring sound as Eko looked at the images in the smoke as well, like a camera.

Remember last season at some point, Locke made a comment along the lines of "I have looked into the eye of the island, and it is beautiful". I always thought that referred to when he came face to face with the "monster". Now that I've seen it, though, I don't know how he'd call it "beautiful", unless the images of his past were beautiful ones. :confused3

I too, was surprised about Eko's past. I know he did what he had to do to save his brother, and once you get caught up in that stuff, it's hard to get out, but did he really have to slash those two guys? That freaked me out, too, he seems like such a good guy.

And Skuttle, ITA about Charlie and his stash at the end. I felt so bad for him when Claire kicked him out. I hope this doesn't push him to start using again. :sad2:

Great episode. So glad next week will be new, too. Hope this is not considered a spoiler, since it was shown in the previews.... Did you hear the voice saying "this is our island", like it was telling them to get off? Well, duh, I'm sure they'd love to leave if only you'd let them instead of taking their kids and blowing up their raft! :rotfl: (Assuming the voice was an "other".)

Remember though, the first time Locke saw the "monster" nothing happened, the second time, it tried to take off with him. I wonder if it has to do with where they are at the time, if they represent a perceived threat. Maybe the pilot was in a place he didn't belong and that is why he was killed and the first time Locke saw it he wasn't a threat but the second time he was.

Could it be because the second time, he was carrying the dynamite? If the monster is the island security system, maybe it knew what they were going to do with the dynamite.

Could be, he was definately a "threat" then.

omg - it's SMOKE WITH IMAGES in it...heheheh...

THAT aspect of it is still boggling my mind...not that it's a "monster"...it's SMOKE! hehehe

What's freaking me out is the faint "bird chirping" before the smoke monster shows up. I get this weird feeling that there is some sort of bird/camera/watch thing that alerts the "others" or whatever.

Also, why did Eko seem so unphased by the monster? He just looked at it, got it to go away, then carried on like it was no "thang." How did he know how to "defeat" it?? :scared1:

Looking at that site reminded me of a few things.

During the first episode when Michael first starts typing on the compter, in the background you can hear the movie playing and I think the guy said something about area 3, aren't they in area 6? Something along the lines of not contacting area 3.

And in looking at that site from the link someone provided, I did hear the one drug dealer say Sayid.

I noticed that too. Last year at the end of the season they showed a big bird right before the monster showed up.

I really like Mr. Eko too - my new favorite character - but I think it is funny that we all love him so much seeing that he is a criminal and murder. Although it seems that most people on the island have a crimminal past - and here we are loving them.

My sister thought he was sexy when he was a criminal. ::yes:: Hehe so did I!

Here's something interesting about the monster from tvguide.com

After many rewinds and pauses, I'm pretty sure I could make out the shadowy images of the old man he killed, the church, his brother and the statue-selling lady. Seems to me like the monster is made up of what haunts you from your past. And after the kind of life he's had, neither that nor the insane coincidence of surviving a plane crash on the same island your brother crashed into years ago could make you flinch.

I keep calling Mr. Eko - Adebisi - the character he played on HBO's OZ. He wasn't so sexy in that show. He always wore a sock on his head.

Michael was on that show too.
