sandramaac, thats the same question i had, if the numbers on the computer were the same at the top of the hatch. I am a little confused after lasts nights episode, the one thing I didn't notice was that Sawyer was getting his butt kicked! First he got shot, then stabbed when he tried to get out of the trap, then he got beat up by a girl! Poor guy!

In the DHARMA video they mentioned "zoology" and I SWEAR I saw a picture of a polar bear in the video. So maybe they had these animals but maybe they escaped, were let free, or were always allowed to roam the island.

There were two polar bears when they said zoology.

I'm also thinking they are the survivors of the plane crash and think Michael, Sawyer and Jin are the "others". We know Ana Lucia was definitely on the plane from the flashbacks with Jack at the bar. She was sitting in the last row, 42 I believe.
I can't believe Jin can speak English. At one point I thought he would, but then when he never did I figured I was wrong. Plus when he was fighting with Michael you hear what he is hearing and it was gibberish, so I'm wondering if maybe it will be a clone of Jin and not really Jin. Does that make sense?

Oh yeah, I didn't understand the "leap of faith" thing. Wouldn't NOT pressing the button be the leap of faith?? Typing in the code is a leap of anything - Locke already knows it would rewind the countdown clock.

Next week should be interesting with the food dynamic. I mean they've been on the island for 44 days without any food and suddenly they find a stocked pantry...I think Jack said in the preview "no one is taking any food" or something like that.

The numbers entered into the computer -- 4 8 15 16 23 42 -- are the same as Hurley's lottery numbers and the numbers his friend from the mental institution kept repeating over and over.

The Others -- I think at least some of them are from the tail section and have been infected with the enigmatic sickness. I wonder, though, if some of them are from other groups of castaways, such as Danielle's team or whatever brought Desmond to the island. I also wonder if "Shaft" could be descended from the inhabitants of the Black Rock.

Back to Danielle a moment. She said she was there as part of a scientific expedition, right? Possibly related to DHARMA?

And Jin speaks English!! Not only that, but very unaccented English. I found it hard to believe that he was going to Australia and the US for his FIL without knowing some English.

Man, I'm glad I taped this episode. I soooo need to rewatch it.

I don't think Jin speaks English. It has to be something else...a dream sequence, something. anything.

If you look back to the first season, before we knew Sun could speak english, there is a scene early on in Sun's ep when she is watching Kate and Jack (I think it was Kate and Jack) and from her point of view she could understand what they were saying. I didn't pick it up the first time I watched it...just thought Kate and Jack were speaking and since I speak english I could understand. I realized the second time thru that it was from Sun's point of view and was a dead giveaway that she does speak english.

With Jin during In Translation (Jin centric episode) during the scene where Michael is accusing him of burning down the raft, everything everyone is saying sounds like jibberish when we get it from his pov. certain words he probably knows (no, yes, boat) come thru as understandable, but the rest is jibberish.

I know they did this on purpose, and would be shocked if the negated all of that just to suddenly say Jin speaks english now. there has to be more to it.

Back to Danielle a moment. She said she was there as part of a scientific expedition, right? Possibly related to DHARMA?

I thought (and it's quite possible I'm remembering wrong) that her boat was going on a scientific expedition, but crashed on the island. However, if that's the case, it is entirely possible that their expedition could have been related to DHARMA.

Before the raft left, Sun gave Jin a translation book she made so that he could study and learn some English and understand Sawyer and Michael. (I'm not sure if she included a translation for Sawyer's "Han and Chewy" reference, though ) Other than that, I don't know if Jin has actively been learning while on the island.

What mtemm just posted is a good point. I was trying to figure out why Jin's English is so unaccented, unlike Sun's. She has a slight accent to her English, but I didn't notice any in that one brief sentence in the preview. I would think that Daniel Dae Kim would at least try to sound the way a Korean who learned English as an adult would sound, with a heavier accent.

LOL BWVDenise! I told DW Lauri that Locke was probably talking to people with TIVO more than he was talking to Jack.

I find myself starting to get a little bit irritated and annoyed with the show quite honestly. More and more questions. No answers. Too many commercials. Starting to get on my nerves and make me lose interest.

I had been wondering about the snippet we heard of Jin speaking english in the previews and the fact that it sounded like he had no accent - but really it was just a few words and taken in that short of a snippet we may not be hearing the accent like we would if we heard him speak a longer sentence (if that makes sense..lol)

I found it hard to believe that Jin would be in his position in his Father-in-law's company and not know english. I knew he was hiding it. If he was heading out on a trip that would put him in 2 english speaking countries with a business purpose (delivering the watch for his FIL), you would think he would learn at LEAST some basic english words - please, thank you, anything. Who goes to a country that speaks another language without being armed with at least the native phrase for "excuse me, can you tell me where the bathroom is?" I think he was hiding it from Sun just as much as she was hiding her knowledge from her and when he found out she could speak english he was shocked and angry (especially that she was learning it to use it to leave him) Then of course he couldn't let slip that Oh yeah, I know english too, because he is still hiding the truth about his job with her father from her.

The leap of faith thing that Locke was talking about with Jack pushing the button that was questioned a few pages back in the thread - I think Locke was referring to pushing the button as a leap of faith for Jack because Jack is such a non believer in faith, destiny, etc and to just give in for a minute and open up your mind to the possibility that there COULD be something to the countdown and the hatch.

Who else loved the line with Hurley and Sayid when Hurley was helping him carry the crate and said "finally things are getting back to normal" and then Kate comes running up yelling "Sayid!!" Hurley gets all the best lines

I was suprised to see Katey Segal in this episode. LOST isn't usually known for having guest stars that are well established in the TV industry, are they? I can't remember any others - not that LOST was their first acting job but it wasn't like you would see them and say "Peg Bundy!"

Jack has never been my favorite character on the show but recently he's been annoying me. His character's refusal to believe in anything that isn't what he considers "rational" grates my nerves. But maybe that's just me.

Ok, whoa! That was a very interesting episode last night. Here are my thoughts about what could be happening here:

Because there is an orientation video, I have the impression that there isn't a "set" person that will take over for the current person/s responsible for putting in the code. Desmond said last night that he had been there for 3 years, is that right? So maybe, every few years or so, the magnetic force of the island makes a plane, boat, whatever crash, and its survivors are then the new people to take over.

With Jin, what if Michael and Sawyer were teaching Jin the perfected phrase to say to throw off their captors? I can't imagine that if he spoke perfect English, when he came running out to them on the beach, he would have been speaking so they would understand.

What about those theorys? Anyone else thinking along those lines?

Oh, and Locke was really scary looking with hair. I kept thinking Ted Bundy, which might be why they paired him with Peg Bundy.

Now I am wondering, who was Locke's love interest? What happened to her? How did Locke end up in a wheelchair? (mayeb we know that, but I missed a bit of the 1st season.)

I have a feeling they were in some sort of accident and she died, and he was paralyzed. I'm probably waaaaaaay off, though.

Has anyone else see the special 1 hr show on Lost on the TV Guide channel? Thought they didn't give any big plots away it was interesting to see behind the scenes. All the actors were interviewed where in Hawaii, except for the boy who plays Walt who was on the mainland. It made me wonder if it will be awhile before we see Walt this season. Also the actor who plays Jin talked about how he had to learn Korean to play the role. The actress who plays his wife is a Korean film star. I just found it interesting.

I'm sure it was...He also tried to get her to go to Australia with him - I think he even had a plane ticket for her.
