LOST - Season 2 (No spoilers)

In the film it mentions that shortly after they arrived on the island there was an "incident" which is now resulting in the code having to be put into the computer. I wonder what that "incident" could have been???

...A little bit off the current topic, but I finally broke down and bought the DVDs of season 1 (I was tired of DH asking me questions about this season DURING the shows since he didn't watch last season...we will have a LOST-fest this weekend). Anyway, we watched episodes 1 & 2 last night and he picked up something from the comic book scene. When Walt is reading the spanish comic book, we all know there is a polar bear. But then Walt turns the page and it shows 3 characters...one of them is Magneto (must be X-Men then). DH pointed it out. That could be interesting since maybe it is alluding to the magnetic force on the island? Might be a stretch but a fun association nonetheless.

But that also got me thinking - wonder who spoke Spanish to have spanish literature on the plane. We know it wasn't Walt's. Maybe Ana-Lucia's? I am sure she speaks Spanish. Not sure what she would be doing with a comic book though...

One of the shows late in last season shows Hurley with the comic book before the plane crashed. Hurley speaks Spanish.

The movie says it is orientation 3 of 6. Since "the swan" is the 3rd station does that mean there are 6 station? The logo on the back of the shark didn't look quite the same as the swan logo - was the shark from one of the other stations?

Ah, you're right! If I remember correctly (I'll look for the pic) the logo on the shark didn't have a swan in the middle at all. Good catch.

Can't be Magneto. He's a Marvel character. The comic book is Green Lantern / Flash: Faster Friends, part one, published by DC Comics. I'll have to find the scenes to where Walt is reading the comic to see who is shown (besides the polar bear, of course).

One thing that crossed my mind when I saw the season one recap the other week -- the scene where Locke is showing Walt how to throw the knife. Locke tells Walt to picture it in his mind's eye and it will happen. Green Lantern weilds a ring that will create things made of energy that he pictures in his mind's eye.

Anyone else that has the comic, look at page 34. When the alien's spaceship is unearthed (I'm pretty sure this page is seen on the show) it somewhat resembles the unearthed hatch.

Just watched the orientation video again. The guy says that you are at station 3 which was a lab set up to study the high electomagnetic properties on that part of the island. Maybe everybody else already has this figured out but I guess it just hit me that all of the research funded by the project was actually going on on the island. For some reason when I first saw the orientation and they said they were at station 3 I for some reason thought they had stations around the world, not just on this island. Maybe I was confused with Desmond's around the world race.

I noticed a couple of things I noticed about the training film seen online vs. on the show. First, there are two or three instances where the film zooms in on Dr. Candle's eyes that I don't remember seeing on TV. Second, there's a red dot in the background above Candle's right shoulder and the model of the dome where the computer is. That might have been on TV but I don't recall. Third, the film goes black right after Candle mentions 540 days. I don't remember seeing that on TV either.

And how weird would it be if one of The Others -- specifically the Gorton fisherman from the boat -- turned out to be the DeGroot guy seen in the film?

Where did you find that? Can you post a link?

the comic book that he is reading is the flash. found this online:

"This two part series reflects on how the Golden Age Flash (Jay Garrick) and Green Lantern (Alan Scott) became friends over 50 years ago while teaming up to battle an alien menace.

In the present, the alien is now free and has captured the Golden Age heroes as revenge for what the government has done to him. The alien has called upon his race to destroy this planet as revenge for what the government has done to him.

Now, the Modern Age Flash (Wally West) and Green Lantern (Kyle Raynor) have been called to save the lives of their mentors. In the alien's dimension, the Modern Age Flash teams with the Golden Age Green Lantern (and vice versa) to battle the alien menace before it can take over the planet.

Unfortunately, there are two problems. 1) The Modern Age Heroes have somehow switched identities and 2) The Golden Age Flash is dying from his own hyper metabolism eating away at his body."

Was Desmond in the pitcure on the wall that Jack saw?
AT first I thought it was Sarah the girl that Jack married.
But my DS(11) reminded me that jack talked to Sarahs( husband to be)
and told him that he would need to to help her with everything?
(that she won't be able to use the bathroom herself)
Does anyone else remember this?

After missing all of Season 1 when it aired, I was finally able to watch it all on DVD to get up to speed to watch Season 2. Now I'm completely hooked.

Just found this thread, so I apologize if it's been posted here before. But has anyone visited this site?

http://www.oceanicflight815.com/

Click on the bar code at the bottom of the page and type in "theislandiswaiting".

Up pops a LOST "script". Much debate on the LOST message boards as to whether this is real or just a teaser from the show's writers to mislead the fans.

Either way, it's pretty cool.

Yes, that is what happened and what was said.

I have this theory that Desmond was really Sarah's husband to be. Perhaps Desmond is his last name, but Sarah called him by his first name. We never saw what he looked like. The girl in the picture looked very much like Sarah, but it was just a quick shot, so I couldn't focus on her face. Why else would Jack have paused to look at it the way he did?

On the Hanso Foundation web-site there are a total of 7 projects. I wonder if there are 6 of those projects going on on the island and the "others" were a part of one or more of those projects. And the reason the numbers have to be put in is because something went wrong in one of the other projects.

I'm confused how anyone could think that Desmond was the husband to be. That's just not possible. Jack interviewed the fiance, as someone mentioned. And don't you think that Desmond would have said something when Jack was telling him about the patient that he couldn't help (at the stadium)? :confused3

The man on the orientation video did say that there had been "an incident."

Thanks RadioNate for the picture, I didn't think it was her either. I think Jack just looked at the picture, because he just realized that Desmond had someone special in his life. I think it was Jack feeling sorry for Desmond having been down there for three years separated from whoever that woman was in the picture.

I asked this question before, but no one has answered, does anyone watch ER? Desmond looks a lot like the pompous surgeon that was on ER last night.
