You know about a month or so ago I read some posts on another board that thought he was reading A Wrinkle in Time but couldn't tell for sure. There were a lot of theories on that book and the parallels at that time.
I've never read the book, but from what little I know about it there seems to be a lot that parallels Lost. I think the same can be said for some of Stephen Kings work and some old B movies, none of which I have ever read or seen. Just commenting on thoughts by people who have.

It's funny that you say that because I posted something earlier today on another Lost board:

"Interesting Parallels between Lost & Stephen King"

The Stand

Good vs evil theme
The possible foreshadowing of two separate camps forming with opposite agendas

The Dark Tower series

The references to Richard Adams, Watership Down and could Shardik have something to do with the polar bear?

A character's obsession with entering a mysterious and potentially dangerous place--nothing good comes from this obsession.

"The Prisoner"--A young man addicted to heroin (his brother got him hooked) who kicks the habit with the help of an older, mentor type man
"The Lady of Shadows"--A woman who seems like a normal woman but her "inner (other?) self" is more sinister
A special child with "the touch"

The Tommyknockers

Again with the obsession. A group of people work to unearth a strange large, vessel and long to know what's inside.

Survivor Type

A man ends up on an island due to a crash. He is stranded with many bags of heroin. He also happens to be a surgeon.

The 'bad father' theme is key in numerous King books, such as The Shining, Gerald's Game, Dolores Claiborne, IT, & Rage.

The only one I've seen that is the same as what you've just posted is the one about the Tommyknockers and trying to unearth the vessel. I'll have to go back and search for one's I've seen and see if it adds anything new.

I'm sending you a PM.

OK, freaky. I did not put that grouphug smilie in there :scared1:

It's all this talk about Stephen King!!

I'm just guessing...but ya'know how Jack kept asking Locke about what really happened? Maybe if Boone lives,Jack will ask him and he will tell the truth. :confused3

I hear some other really great theories... :teacher:

I don't think I've ever laughed out loud so much at a Lost episode. Jack was too funny asking Sawyer about STD's, and I love it when he said if he tried to help Sawyer he'd just get a one liner or a new nickname.
Loved it when Sawyer told Jack if he was after a stool sample to forget about it!

OK, I'll be the first to say (maybe) that I thought this was another great episode. Locke has had so much heartache in the past, I hope this island brings him something great :(.

So do I! I like him even more now.

Here's what I posted on the other thread:
If you're here for a stool sample forget about it :rotfl2: !

I think Locke knew Boone would be fatally wounded (if that's the case) but not how it would happen. He kept yelling for Boone to get out and then crawled up there to get him out. I think he realized Boone was going to be hurt after the plane started shifting. He knew they had to see what was in the plane because of his dream and I think that's why he could no longer walk - because Boone had to be the one to get in the plane and get hurt. Once Boone was injured, Locke could walk again and then the light appeared in the hatch. Maybe Boone is the key.

I was wondering if the hatch needed a "life". Maybe that is what woke it up. It will be very interesting to see how all this plays out.

You are no worse than me! I told DH, "Better hide that from Charlie!"
Why else would Boone need to be in the plane? He didn't find anything? It just seems like he was a sacrifice. I am traumatized.

Am I the ONLY one who didn't like tonight's episode? I know it was well done but it made me feel bad. :guilty:

SO glad Jack is safe, though.

You are the first I've heard of who didn't like it. But not everyone is going to like the same thing.

I think those were his REAL parents, pulling a scam. The father put the mother up to it, because the mother needed the money.
They were evil.

I felt SO bad for him. Heck, today I was still feeling bad for him like he was a real person.

Well, your theory makes me feel better about Locke. But if Locke hadn't been so obsessed with getting in that damn hatch then maybe Boone wouldn't have been in the plane.
I just don't know why Locke would let him do it when he saw Boone all bloody in his dream.
AND WAS THAT THE CREEPIEST DREAM EVER??? Do you think Boone will say that "up the stairs down the stairs" thing as he's dying??? Then I WILL bawl.

Guess Locke is obsessed with getting it open because of his special powers or whatever you want to call them.

I hope Boone doesn't say that as he is dying. Maybe Locke had that in his dream as something to prove to Boone to go - since the island didn't want Locke in the plane.

I still don't believe Locke is evil. I think he realized it once Boone was in the plane and that's why he yelled at him to get out. I will say, however, I thought it was interesting at the end that Locke was kneeling over the hatch (upset) and I thought he would be saying something about Boone, instead he's saying I've done everything you've wanted or something like that.

OK another thought...How did Locke get back to the hatch so quickly. I got the impression it was far away. I wonder if that piece of video was actually in the future. When Boone dies the light appears. Hmmm....

That will be very interesting to see!

Sorry for making so many posts - I'm trying to catch up and I will NEVER remember everything I wanted to say. :teeth:

I couldn't tell what was up with Boone's chest?

Neither could I. Is the reason Boone dies because Locke liked about what really happened? Maybe if he had told Jack the truth he could have been better treated, even though they don't really have anything there to treat him with.

Does everyone really think it is Boone to die? Or will it be someone else? Is Boone too obvious?

Does the death occur next week or in the season finale?

OK, I'm rewatching and I just noticed something very strange. When Boone was talking on the radio he said "we're survivors of Oceanic flight 815" there's lots of background noise but I've played it back over and over again and DH and I agree the voice on the radio says "there were no survivors of Oceanic Flight 815". How would the person on the radio know this if they hadn't found wreckage?

That's what I've been discussing with some others on another board. It doesn't add up. This one left me with the most questions to date that is for sure!

I re-watched the episode after I posted this and I think Locke was crying over Boone. He does say "I've done everything you wanted me to so why did you do this, why?" So I do think he was upset about Boone. I don't really think he knew Boone would be killed (if it's him). Maybe he now knows that Boone will die (if it's him-LOL).

I just reviewed the tape on slow...it looks like the skin is all busted open.

Eek! Was that from the impact or was there more to it?

I'm of the suspicious nature, but I think there was something to that radio transmission above and beyond someone finding pieces of the plane and declaring everyone dead. If I received a transmission from someone claiming to be a survivor of a plane crash, I don't think my immediate response would be "there were no survivors of Oceanic Flight 815." The response was immediate and definite which leads me to believe that statement was very significant to the plot of the show.
Also, they are supposed to be thousands of miles off course. I really don't think pieces of the wreckage have been found. I'm not arguing with you, just trying to expand my idea.

Makes sense to me. I've been wondering what else it means.

I know some think the "survivors" really didn't survive the crash. Who knows. I want some answers!

<===Not very good at waiting.

Have you come across posts yet that say the voice on the other end sounds like Boone? I read that on another board and re-watched that part. It does sound like Boone. Coincidence???? This show is just plain freaky (and I love it).

I just read earlier where someone said the Tommyknockers had "scenes" similar to the hatch. It makes me want to read it, but I just can't read Stephen King. I'm too big of a scaredy cat.

I didn't notice that Locke looked from one side to the other and saw the wheelchair on one side and Boone on the other. I just can't believe in my heart he sacrificed Boone for the ability to walk again. I just have this feeling (or strong desire to believe - LOL) that Locke is pure and good and after all he's endured he will have some reward in the end. I will be completely devastated if he turns out to be evil.

I feel the same way.

My Caption: Even with these glasses I look better without a shirt than you do.

I think we were supposed to think of Charlie when we saw the drugs. Did anyone find it ironic that it was being smuggled in statues of the Virgin Mary by a fake priest given Charlie is Catholic and struggled with the drug problem. I don't think it was accidental.

Please don't let them have Charlie get back on the drugs!

That's what I said last night, seemed like a lot of hair to lose in only 4 years. I guess every additional back story they give us just leaves us with more questions. He sure did look like he was going to drive off a cliff when he left his dads house though.

Last nights episode had the worst cliff hanger ending, both dh and I were sitting there with our mouths open, yelling huh?, no, more, we need more!!!!

It sure was! I NEEDED more.

I kept waiting for him to drive back and ram the gate with his car or something like that.

Maybe he lost all the hair in 4 years from all the stress?
