Losing weight for trip...Aug. 2011

Hi Everyone,

I have read a lot of this thread and I'm hoping to get a little advise. I'm trying to loss some weight before our November trip and I'm worried about clothes. My question is - if I loss the weight between now and November where am I going to find clothes for a Bahamas Cruise in November? I would love to be able to wear a bathing suite on this trip and spend time with my family in the beach. I'm really motivated but I'm worried I want have anything to wear!! Advice needed.. Any tips or suggestions!?!?

Okay, weigh in....The week before was great, so I figured with that and my "special" time starting this weekend, it would be a big fat bust; but lost 2.2lbs, which I will happily take and be greatful for. I just gotta keep working out and it is sooo hard to motivate.

July 7th I am taking DD9 to her summer camp ( I can fit in 1 seat now, yeah!!!) and I'll come back on the 10th. Then on the 16th my DD6 and I are taking a quick trip to WDW!!!! This will be somewhere between 90-100lbs less than last time I went in November, I am so excited!:cool1:

Ebay and check local consignment stores, some have summer clothes on clearance through most of the fall and early winter.

Way to go! You can get there before August. Aren't you excited about not carrying that weight around in the August heat? I know I am! It will be hot I know, (we went in August last year), but I won't be embarrassed to go in the pool this year. :dance3:

I'm down 18, 2 to go! My weight loss has taken a long time also, but I realized that I haven't died yet by cutting back so I can make it the rest of the way.
Happy Independence Day everyone! (Canada Day too!)

Too bad...I just found this thread.

I started losing weight on March 26, 2011 with the goal of losing 30 lbs by our July 2, 2011 trip.

I made it this morning!!!
Tomorrow is the final weigh-in.

Everyone is doing so great. I love reading other peoples success stories. I find that it motivates me to stay on track.

I had my 7-week weigh-in yesterday and I'm down 14.8 lbs. I'd love to lose another 15 pounds before my next Disney trip, which is in October. Although I'm staying on plan (I'm doing Weight Watcher's) and exercising regularly, I'm finding the weight is coming off slower than it has in the past. Must be because I'm getting old.

If you can't find anything locally, you can always order what you want from online stores. I shop alot that way.

Oi vey, bad long weekend. My grandmother passed away on Thursday and our huge family and circle of friends made sure we never went hungry. I ate the whole weekend. Have yet to step on the scale, but maybe I will tomorrow. I hope to hop back on the wagon tomorrow morning.
Good news though, I had ordered some comfy cotton summer clothes for my trip. They arrived today and all fit very well and very comfortably!

I was so tired when I woke up I plunked down on the computer to the DISboards. I saw this post, read your success stories and got motiviated! I just did a brisk 2 mile walk! I feel good now! :)
:yay:

Way to go JerseyGirl! you are the one that started this support group. It has really helped me stay motivated.
Well, I'm almost there, (19 out of 20). One down from last week with 1 to go.

I hope to stay the same this week since DD's birthday is Sunday, and then hard press until we leave for Hawaii.

Got bad news about my job yesterday, but I didn't let them take away my progress and got right on the treadmill this morning.
Good wishes to all.

Okay, wish me luck, My 6yr old daughter and I are heading to wdw Sat- Fri. My plan is to just get 1 plate for the 2 of us. I do not want to totally deny myself (it doesn't work to anyway), but I really got to watch the sweets. It's not only the calories, but if you remember, I had gastric bypass and if I eat more that 15gms of sugar I feel like death warmed over for 1-2 hours ( and yet it still is a temptation that I overindulge in from time to time, such stupidity) So I gotta pledge no more than 2 bites of a sweet.....I think I can do it, I really do not like to get sick in public. I just got back from a 4 day trip to St Louis with my other daughter and was able to lose 1# despite eating out 3 meals a day, so I have high hopes with all the walking and swimming. I'll let you know when I get back!

Good luck Andee! you will do great. Just remember to bring a couple of zip lock bags so you can save some of the sweets for later. For me, its easier if I don't feel like denying myself if I say "some now, some later". I know it doesn't work for ice cream, but I'm sure your DD will be happy to share.

Have a great trip!

Just found you guys - I am from Jersey too - funny thing is, I was down 35 lbs due to stress and depression in January when I took a leave from my job. I have put it all back on. Now, I don't think I could loose all that in 45 days, but I would be happy with 10-20 before our trip to Disney (I think we will be there the same time JerseyGirl. I think I will go for a bike ride after I get the girls in bed ( I know, it is late, but it is summer vacation :)

Im going in November, but can I join too? Went to the dr for knee pain about 2 weeks ago, he said "take a load off". Put me on 1200 cals a day. Ive been doing it for 2 weeks and have lost 6 lbs. I'm also using myfitnesspal.com, online and on my iphone. It's a really good app.

I started at 190, and want to be at 150/145 by Thanksgiving.. Thoughts?

I'm not exercising, bc my knees hurt so bad. I need some suggestions for low impact exercise?

PS. You ladies are so inspiring!

I just found this thread!!! I too am from Jersey and will be in WDW at the end of August. I started Weight Watchers in January and have lost 36 pounds so far. I wish it wasn't so hot out, too unbearable to walk, even after dark. I do so much better when I can walk and this weather is just about killing me.

Wow, 6 lbs lost in 2 weeks is great!
Has your Doctor cleared you to swim? Hopefully, he will clear you to walk soon. I jog 3 days a week and walk with nordic walking poles the other days. Using them increases the calorie burn without adding stress to the body.
take care,
:hippie:

Thanks!

Yes, he says once im down 10 lbs, start small walks, gradually increasing the time and speed!

Good for you NOLAdisneymom, 6lbs is a great start! I second swimming. :)

I'm glad to see updates on this thread today... I need inspiration! We're having the worst summer ever (cold and wet) so no swimming here, no get-up-and-go at all, and lots of indoor comfort food have resulted in me putting back on 3 of 6 pounds I had lost. I think I'm going to wrangle DH into going for night time walks with me when I get home from work. My time is running short! I'm now only down 3lbs of the 20 I wanted. Phooey.
