Losing weight for trip...Aug. 2011

i could had written this post myself lol. i need to loose 30 lbs and im going to DW in august too!! i started my diet last wednesday. counting calories, cut out beverages, just drink water and skim milk. salad for lunch. small portions for dinner. fruits and low calories snacks. i exercise everyday with Active 2 in the Wii for about 30 minutes. i hate to exercise but i make myself. i will weigh myself this wednesday so we shall see!!
 
Going in July and working down my lbs. I've been using MFP and so far am down 11lbs. Will be more after April 6th though when YDD is enrolled in hourly care on post and I can go to the gym for a bit while she plays with other kiddos!
 
I'm right there with y'all. I was doing really well at the beginning of the year then I got sick and fell of the bandwagon. Great! tip on the sparkpeople.com! Can't wait to use it. I'm one of those "I'm going to start back in April" so I'm enjoying food while I can. :p

I'm working on a smiliar goal. I don't have a pounds-lost goal in mind, but we're walking every day just to build up endurance for the trip since I know this one will be hotter and more exhausting than our winter trips. My challenge right now is the winter than just won't end; I don't have any exercise equipment at home and I do all my walking outdoors, but we're not even supposed to see 40* until April which is seriously sapping my motivation!
 

I also am going in August and I am planning to lose, at least, 15 pounds. I go to the gym 3 days a week for an hour. I do cardio exercises for the first 40 - 45 min then the rest of the time I lift light weight, upping my reps, do floor activity (crunches, leg lifts, etc.) then I do squats and lunges. I have already seen an improvement in my legs and arms (isn't the first things to see the difference is your limbs then your stomach?)
I am only 20 but I have always had a problem with having a little extra so I thought setting a goal to slim down by the time Disney comes around was good. I am also a college student on top of this so I find myself lugging books and notes to the gym to study and do homework as I shed the pounds.
Just remember that you can do it!
I will say this, I am not a food expert, but even though I let myself eat SOME things that still aren't like 100% healthy for you, I see that it is a better choice then what I WOULD have picked in the first place. I have cut soda out of my life and only drink it on occasion.
 
I am also trying to lose before our trip in June.
I have 40 to lose, but am looking at 10 at a time. Anything will make me
feel better than I do.
Even today got off to a good start and then I ate some fig newtons...
I don't know why I do it. I just do. But I hopped back on. Water is a big one for me. One of my first focus' also walking once Mother Nature starts to get on track. It is 32 in Maryland today!! What the heck?

You can do it MsHershey! Like Whistle said don't underestimate that first 10lbs, it's 10lbs GONE! I try and envision every pound as a pound of ground beef, lol, I'm all about being visual! My total to lose is 60, but I'm looking at 30-40 right now, then I'll move on to the rest, so I'm not getting discouraged. I was going to start walking but it's freaking COLD here in NC today!! It's supposed to get back to a decent temp later this week, and I can't wait! :banana:
 
I have 20 lbs to lose, but I have to get there by Hawaii trip with the in-laws end of July.

We can do it!

So many encouraging words and stories...so awesome! I love the walking down Main Street in a sundress picture. That is the perfect summer outfit that I would love to wear, but never do...I'm always in a tshirt with capris in the summer. I will def. mapquest the miles to Disney...Love that idea! My kids (10 and 8) will be all over that! I just got my bike tuned up, so I'm ready to go! Will def. join sparklepeople too! I got my Leslie Sansone DVDs ready too. OK...the fun begin now! :) Good luck everyone...keep up the posts we will help each other! :)
 
Can I join? I started WW in the middle of Feb and lost 13 pounds to date. We are going to WDW in Aug too and I would love to lose at least 30 by then. I realistically have 40 to lose. I did WW years ago and lost 50 but little by little was gaining it back, then I got preg w/ my DS and stopped smoking and it all ( and more ) came back on. The points plus program is really working for me.

Ms. Hershey, 10lbs is AWESOME. Way to go!!!
 
OK, first full day people of getting to the me, I want to be! :yay:
Drank my first glass of water after getting out of the shower and drank a protein shake for breakfast. I feel like they fill me up, give me the energy I need and are easy! After my post I'm joining sparkpeople.com.

Trying to decide if I should buy the Main Street Sundress now and hang in my closet as incentive or wait and use it as a reward to buy later....what do you think?
 
I want to join! I want to lose 20lbs before our land/sea trip in August! Lots of bathing suit pics on the boat! :scared1: Back on track and have 4 months to lose it! We can do it! Off to the gym....:thumbsup2

Yay you!!! :yay: I would def buy one now if you know what size you'll be, especially if you see 'the one' You can always reward yourself with another one before you leave :dance3:

It is almost 5 months to mytrip since it is the last week.

I rejoined Curves last night did my first workout and as soon as DS is on his bus I am on my way to do my second workout.

I was doing great until last October but hit a wall so now it is time to get back on track.

I do great with water but need to make sure I cut my carbs down I am a total carb junkie.

I plan to do Curves 3-4 times a week and walk a minimum of 7-10 miles a week also.

Water, I need to drink more of that. After reading this I am going to go have a glass.

I would buy the MSS (main street sundress) now and hang it where you can see it everyday. It will motivate you to keep going.

I just started running, and can make it about 2-3 minutes before needing to walk for a minute or 2, but when I run my 1st complete mile without walking I am treating myself to a spa pedicure. :yay:

I just ate an everything bagel for breakfast. I am also a total carb junkie, I try to cut them out but I can never even make it a full day. :laughing:
 
Hi! Just came across this thread and had to join in! I too, am trying to lose weight for my trip in Aug. I started in Jan and have lost 17 pounds, but for the last few weeks, I lose a pound then stay the same, then lose barely a pound then stay the same....at least I'm not gaining, but it is very slow all of a sudden, at which point I usually get a lot less motivated or give up.
I go to Curves 3-4 times a week, and have just added in walking for 20-30 minutes 3 times a week. I have also been tracking calories on myfitnesspal.com. I'd like to lose 20 more pounds by Aug. Just hope I can do it!

I personally swiped your incentive. I am going to put a picture of the dress I want on my fridge to see it every time I go eat. ;-)
If I bought it and it didn't fit right I would be bummed. LOL!!

Also, a friend turned me on to loseit.com which I find to be simpler than
sparkpeople. Just thought I would mention it.
I also finished my first full day. I am so proud of me. :woohoo:

So i lost 1 pound since last wednesday. Wish it would had been more but at least i'm on my way:goodvibes 29lbs to go:eek:
