Lookout Cay - Cabana Erosion?

Hello - I am wondering if anyone has been at Lookout Cay and noticed if there is still erosion at Mabrika Cay at the cabanas. I am specifically wondering about the first 3 cabanas - 1,2 and 3. It seemed there were erosion issues at the other end at one point but I recently saw a post by someone that said the erosion was happening at the other end now. I can't find the post again.

I believe the earlier erosion was corrected a while ago. I haven't heard of a new problem.

The beach itself was okay, but access from the ramp shared by Cabanas 1 - 3 had a large drop. They added sand to build it up, but someone with mobility issues would not be able to access the beach easily.

Bringing this up again -- I saw a video from February 7 2026 that the erosion was really bad again at Cabanas 1-10. Anyone been there in the past week?

I was there two weeks ago, will that work for your question? :earsboy:

First pic is the beach area in front of 1, which has rocks along the water with some sand behind those rocks; I saw folks on beach chairs on the sand behind those rocks.

Area in front of Mabrika 3 on down for several more has nice sand -

In front of Mabrika 2 is where it transitions from rocks to beach. And as noted above, there is a lot of sand added to fill in what I’m guessing was a drop off at the end of the ramps for 1 & 3, which made it difficult for those with mobility challenges or for a beach wheelchair to access the beach in this area. There is a much smoother ramp access to the beach down between #10 and #11 adjacent to where you get the lunch food.

Thank you! I think it got much worse since you have been there but this is good to know. We have 8 next week so trying to see if we should keep it.

I'm guessing if we get there and it is really bad we will be able to cancel without penalty???

Also your pictures are so great! I can't wait to get out of the snow and to the beach!!

8 is farther down the beach from 3 & there was all sand up to and past the food area when I was there. Must have been a lot of wave action if some of that sand is now gone. I am not sure if you could cancel it while on board, might want to check before the 3-days-prior deadline hits. Though I’d bet there would be someone on board who would be happy to have it if you decided to cancel.

If you have snow at home, then maybe it would be nice even if some of the sand is gone? You’d still have sun, palm trees, and an awesome view! :earsboy: Enjoy your trip!
