Looking up at a tree with the leaves turned up, are you looking at the top of the leaf?


A leaf has a definite top and bottom side. Bottom side is often lighter and the veins more pronounced. The top side faces the sun. If you are looking up at the tree, you would see the bottom ofthe leaf.

That's my answer. What do the rest of you think?

I remember my Grandmother saying that she could tell if it was going to rain by looking at the leaves on the tree.

Her expression was" they are hiding their faces from the rain"

When you look at tree straight on not from under it you see the top of the leaves when a storm is coming you'll notice that the leaves turn slightly over so you then see the underside of the leaf

This part of today's podcast made me smile. My grandpa would always point out when the leaves were "inside out" - telling me that meant a storm was coming. It always seemed that the maple trees were the most obvious, as the back/underside of those leaves are kind of silver in color.

My daddy taught me that when I was rather young. We have a lot of maple trees on our land, so it is extremely noticeable; silver, red, and mint swirling in the wind.
