Looking for your thoughts on exchanges...

We have 2 kids, DD 7 and DS 5. We are thinking of doing an exchange either in 2005, or early 2006. Can any of you recommend any good places to exchange to, keeping in mind the ages of our children? Time of year does not matter, since right now we are just looking around. Since this is our first thoughts of doing this, I thought I would ask all the "experts".

I realize that places are added and removed off the exchange list, but just want to get some good ideas.

Gee... There's a big map of the world in the guide book. We love to check that out and dream.

If you're willing to travel a distance, Hawaii would be a great adventure at any age. Closer to home, how about a location in California? Disneyland?

We are hoping to do Hawaii in 4 years, so that's already thought about.

myrtle beach might appeal to that age group - but I don't know about trading there - the only great resort is the new Marriott and I don't think it has been added to the list - wait it might be.....

oh I get all the Marriott mixed up.

If you can't trade into the Marriott - either find another place or rent your points and then rent directly from an ower - or go on tug from an ower and do a direct exchange.

How much fun can you party handle??????

if you like to party and don't mind the crowds - the Panhandle of Florida is very popular with the highschool and college age students who can't afford to go to Cancun especially Panama CIty..... Of course I am not certain about allowing younger children around this bunch - they are not setting a good example.

Possibilities are endless. Your best bet is to go somewhere that's a good time to go but relatively off season for that time. However, this is not going to be a good value received if you are exchanging DVC. Here are a number of options, what's right for you might not be for someone else. And I'm going to ONLY suggest things I think might fit in but also be easy to get and likely less crowded when you go.

• Ski areas for summer.
• Beach areas for shoulder season like HH, Myrtle Beach or FL during say April, May, early June, Sept or Oct; inpart depending on where as to the best time to go.
• Willaimsburg, Desert or Branson shoulder season
• HI anytime
• Caribbean, especially Cancun or Aruba.
• Hershey PA
• LV

You may want to consider renting for many of these and possibly rent out some of your points to cover the costs. Of course you could go for the gold with HI during Summer or mid winter; Caribbean Xmas to Easter, Top ski weeks and the like and those would generally be a good value for your DVC points as long as you don't chose a sub par resort and understand what you're getting into.
